I tried them at the end of 2020 through AGL (I churned to Superloop after 2 weeks). They were worse than dial up for reliability. 7 drop outs in 2 hours on a Friday night was the final straw for me. Your results may differ but I'll never touch them again.
Was that on FTTP ?
FTTN
Agreed! I tried them via AGL (FTTN), because of a great discount offered alongside my (mandatory) gas connection. While the pricing was cheap, the quality of service was terrible. The reliability was poor, I would get frequent dropouts, and the speed during peak times was less than half advertised (20 Mbps when I was paying for 50). I’ve churned away to another provider and the difference is night and day. Still, your mileage may vary!
One of the worst rated nbn ISPs. Stay away.
Did you use it or just trolling?
I have FTTP and can use a few ISPs simultaneously. Inconsistent speed, poor latency and dropouts even on FTTP. Swapping ISP instantly fixes it.
I lasted a month with them, never again.
How come?
Not sure why there are so many negative comments with Southern phone.
I changed to AGL (which acquired Southern phone) in Jan this year, $49/m 50M NBN HFC.
It's been 3 months now. Speed is good, got 48-52Mbps during peak
and so far there were 2 unplanned drop outs.
I have nothing to complain with.
Not sure why? So you just totally ignored people's detailed reasons why. Interesting opening sentence.
Dropout's on FTTN are generally related to shitty copper phone lines. Peak speed however is on the ISP.
And when the user above said they churned and the dropouts stopped?
@NoApostrophePlurals: Confirmation bias
They said why…. Lol
Anyone on FTTP care to share their experiences?
My 6 months with them on the 1000/50 plan was great. Will be switching back to them after my current deal expires.
Anyone on FTTP care to share their experiences?
Yep, I've been on FTTP with More Telecom for almost a year.
250/25 plan and lately getting around 265/26 often in the evening.
Looks expensive, you must love throwing money away.
I get 30% off.
So no good for FTTN? Currently with superloop.
no good
Anyone got this on HFC?
… scrap that, they don't even sell Superfast on hfc weirdly
I got $19.5 cashback with shopback on 100mb plan
Good deal. This is actually around the same price as my Employee rate plan with AGL. (Still on the plan even though I don't even work there anymore)
AGL/Southern Phone cop a lot of negative reviews, but I've actually had a good experience with them… never have dropouts and pretty much always get consistent speeds. Never had any buffering with streaming services either.
Maybe I'm just lucky or I'm in a stable area. Currently on FTTC in Altona VIC.
Seems like a bit of hate for this lot, any similar priced 100/20 deals with better providers?
I'm over AusPost …
Bloody legend, thanks mate!
Can anyone pls let me know what router settings for hfc ? Is it dynamic ip or pppoe? They didn’t send me any information. Even can not login to my account. Thanks.
I'm using them with FTTP and it is absolute rubbish. Dropouts galore, streaming constantly pixelated, and trying to contact them is an absolute joke.
Switching but not sure what to yet.
want to switch for FTTP upgrade,
currently 70$ optus 50/20, nighttime speed 5% faster than advertised, almost never dropout (when drop out restart router), unstable overseas latency.
I stand to save money to switch anyways, have not yet coz lazy.
but this ISP got shit on by everyone here and productreviews, how bad are they really or just can't say?
I've trimmed all the copper in my house and the copper is as solid as it gets, plan to use firmware-modded telstra technicolor, I can't deal with (unfixable or frequent) drop outs.
is this deal still decent or am i best getting the other 69$ for 6 month type, less sub-par ISPs for my fibres?
thanks
Pretty shit !!!
Don’t risk it
Any reviews on Souther Phone NBN in Sydney?
Was just going to sign up with this offer and failed because I have a credit file ban in place (thanks Latitude, Optus and Medibank), is that really nessescary for a month to month $65 NBN plan with BYO modem?
Although now reading these comments, it seems I may have dodged a bullet.. but I still need to find a new ISP by 24/08 when my Exetel service is due to end (have had constant billing issues with them)
Any suggestions?
100% scam
DONT NOT sign up!!!
Dropout every single nights - never ever had any issue with Exetel/superloop/Aussieboard band before!
Op the links aren’t opening?
Working now. Disregard thank you.
