Good headset. I paid about $270 when they initially released, then the price shot up.

  • Super happy with mine, fantastic sounding headset. Really good frequency response and coming from a pair of M50X, the steelseries bass surprises me. Very lightweight compared to the M50x too.

I think the xbox version is missing the wheel for sidetone adjustment though? Just means you need to configure it in the steelseries app. Sidetone sucks on this headset and causes hissing.

    • Didn't know about that, thanks for the heads up. Will keep it in mind when mine arrives.

  • I got one through an earlier deal. It took my son a bit of time to get used to clean audio. (Coming from Corsair's Void Elite which has pretty unconstrained bass).

  • Been considering these for a while, do they provide simple switching between xbox and PC or is that not a thing?

If your PC has Bluetooth, you can keep the USB connector plugged into the Xbox and switch between them. But if it's like me, it sounds like you'll need to move the USB connector.

It's one of the reasons I was considering the Xbox Wireless Headset instead which can connect wirelessly to the console and I have the wireless adapter for the PC. But it sounds like this headset is better for comfort and sound quality.

      • I have the xbox wireless adapter for my desktop I wonder if this will switch between both

        • The headset uses proprietary 2.4ghz wireless, hence the USB C dongle. The xbox version has a switch on the dongle you need to select when you connect it to the xbox.

I found I had to use a fair bit of force to remove the dongle from devices so I've got mine on a short usb C extension so I can avoid snapping it.

The old Arctis 9x can switch between both using the xbox wireless adapter but I actually bought the Arctis Nova 7x because switching between was annoying. you generally had to hold the on button for the right amount of time to be able to start syncing and if you still had it sync'd to your xbox and you were trying to sync to your PC it will turn your xbox on if its in range and for me that also turned on my TV and switched inputs so if someone was watching the TV it was annoying and if someone wasn't it was still annoying having to walk back to the other room to turn off the xbox and tv before playing on PC.

It is so much easier to just unplug the dongle and carry that with your headset to the other room.

Nova 7X also works on PS4 and PS5 and is one of the only wireless headsets that work with both flawlessly.

These days I have just been leaving my Arctis 9X sync'd to my xbox and using it when I play xbox (which isn't that often) because in all honesty… they both sound really good and have good mics but I do prefer the 7x overall in sound quality but just slightly.

          • @FaceOfMutiny: My 9x is on the way out and I'm looking to replace it. The number 1 feature I need is being able to use the mic and audio from the xbox and audio from my phone (via bluetooth) at the same time. Does the 7x do this as well?

      • i thought on PC, if you dont use the 2.4ghz dongle, if you have to use mic then it will default to "handsfree audio" which is mono instead of the usualy stereo bluetooth?

so really to maintain stereo sound while using mic would be to use the 2.4ghz dongle?

  • great deal, thanks op. anyone have experience with warranty for amazon uk items?

  • Just a heads up, I got the Nova 7P a few months back and the ear cushions caused skin irritation on my ears even after a short amount of use.

Apparently others have had a similar issue, but it's remedied by getting some new ear cushions. I got a set from Wicked Cushions, and they've been great.

Cushion issue aside, I'm happy with them.

I have used this for around 6 months now. A very good headset especially if you are looking to use one headset for work, PC gaming and xbox. The bluetooth and wireless have separate power buttons. You are able to connect to two things simultaneously. The dongle has a button to flip when you need to shift from PC to Xbox. Dongle has an led indicator which is green if dongle is set to xbox and white if it is towards PC. So easy to identify which is the current setting on dongle. Headphone has a mic button and mic has a red led indicator to show mic mute. Left ear cup has a volume dial. Right one has a dial to shift between chat/game. The sidetone setting can be turned off. The auto turn off feature standby can be turned off or timer can be changed. I believe this is one of the best headsets out there if you are looking for the convenience of using just one headset for everything. Battery life is pretty good as well. Still getting full day of calls/teams meetings and staying on when standby for the all time.

I used the xbox wireless headset as well but returned it in the end. The headset was good - mic quality was good. Background noise isolation was excellent. The one annoying thing which made me return it is that if left idle, it turns off automatically. And you cannot turn this feature off. So it was almost impossible to use it for work as everytime you get a teams of VoIP call, the headset is sitting off and speaker is ringing. Also to use it on PC, you need to just use bluetooth/usb c cable that comes with it. The dongle which comes with headset only works on Xbox.

    • Interesting that the dongle doesnt work on PC cause someone above said that it works kn PS4/PS5 usually will work on PC as well.

      • Its regarding dongle for microsoft headset for xbox.

The one for this steel series works on all platforms.
