[NSW] 20% off VW Dealer Scheduled Service @ Denlo Volkswagengen, Parramatta (Online Booking Required)

30

Received notification of this in my email and so gonna try them out. Not bad if you were planning on a dealer service anyway.

The Ts&Cs state the appointment must be in June but I spoke with 2 different people in service on the phone and they told me that it could be in May or June. Hopefully they make good on that promise but I guess if you're worried then just book it in June to be on the safe side. Only other note was that you need to "mention" the deal at time of booking. Seeing as it is a web booking only then the only way to do this is to include a comment in the notes at the end of the booking confirmation.

Can't comment on whether Denlo service is any good as I haven't used them before. I did notice the base rate of service for my Tiguan was about $40 more than my regular dealer (VW Chullora) so actual saving for me was $40 less than 20% off what I was going to pay.

From the email:
For the entire month of May, all online web-bookings will receive 20% off*

Whether you need a routine oil change or a major repair, our expert technicians are here to help. Click the Book Now button below to head to our easy online booking system and take advantage of this great offer.

*Valid from 1st of May 2023 – 30th of June 2023. Appointment must be within June and completed by the 30th of June. Only redeemable for services at the recommended time/mileage interval – parts and services included. Discount excludes any additional work carried out. Offer must be mentioned at the time of booking to redeem. For more information contact Denlo Volkswagen Service. Not to be used with any other offer. Denlo Volkswagen reserves the right to change or extend the offer.

PSA: if your car is under manufacturer warranty and you were told you need to have it serviced by the expensive dealer to maintain your warranty, you were told a lie.

    • +1

Yep, they don't call the stealerships for nothing.

    • +1

Yep, as long as they are an MTA approved mechanic your warranty will remain intact.

20% off inflated serviced costs is not a deal

    • I agree with the inflated costs, but it's also a positive for when I eventually sell the car.

    • Tbh I have asked around a few non-dealers and their prices haven't been that much cheaper (in some cases it was more expensive). Maybe I just haven't found a good mechanic. 20% brings things pretty on par with other mechanics as far as I have seen. Euro cars are just expensive all round. Reasons I service with VW dealer:
      - Free courtesy car which isn't a bomb (I serviced my old Aurion at the local Ultra Tune and they gave me the biggest POS). I have 3 kids under 6 and so this is important.
      - Free car wash and vac (again I have 3 kids so this is useful as I don't get time to wash as much as I'd like)
      - Free 12 month VW Roadside assist
      - Helps resale value (it shouldn't, but it does)

Just note - every time you say free its not actually free, its incorporated into the cost of servicing.

Dealership costs are mostly universal, or at least you can guess what one will cost based on another, the key with independent mechanics is in the first word, they name their price, if its too expensive go elsewhere. Reviews and the rest have made it easy to weed out the shitty overpriced ones from the good, that being said there isn't a foolproof method, but as someone who works in the industry I promise you they are getting a lot more out of you than you are out of them. The free courtesy car is tax written off, the car wash and vac is done by the first year apprentice getting paid under minimum wage or a labourer getting just over that, the free roadside assist for a year is sorta handy, but there are other avenues to get that included like insurance etc. Make sure you do your research is all I am saying with this rambling, there's a lot of smoke and mirrors to make you feel like you are getting a deal, dealerships make the vast majority of their profits on the service centre.

      • I think its very much dealer/brand dependant

Work car Kia under the 7 year warranty, price range $420-$730 you have to pay for a courtesy car ($60) which is normally a Rio that struggles up hills (seriously who buys this POS), they have recently started asking $30 for a wash and vacuum, roadside was already included. went to an independent mob 2 mins away from home basically pricing is a flat $350-$400, car comes back in just as good condition as Kia dealer. Not going back to main dealer.

Personal cars Porsche, the prices are listed on the website so there are no surprises (yep its not cheap),Free loan cars vary from Macan, Cayennes, Boxster & Taycan, roadside comes with the extended warranty, and resale is pretty good considering its current market valued more than what I paid for the car?! Will continue to use main dealer for servicing.

They're not. These prices have been around for at least 6 months. I've been looking to get my Tiguan service for the 60,000 KM and prices were pretty similar.

I've ended up pulling the trigger with a local recommended mechanic and price came down to around $800 mark compared to the $1200.

For those looking book a service with this offer, make sure do it through the phone because the discount is not applied when you do it online…

  • I service my 2018 Tiguan with this mob. No complaints and they don't hassle you to replace filters every 2 months, free coffee and juice in the wait area.

    • +1

if you're servicing your car every 2 months, id be concerned for your car

more a dig at subaru when i had a wrx. 6 months servicing, every time they would ask me to change the cabin filter and wipers. every. damn. time.

        • i would service any turbo car every 6,000km max.
but then again i will never ever service at a Subaru centre ever again.

The niceness of the waiting room is inversely proportional to the honesty and value.
Best mechanics are usually suburban, over 30 and with a local reputation worth keeping.
They are often grumpy, barely speak and have dirty or non-existent waiting rooms

      • My local mechanic was late 50's, dirty, dirty waiting room, dodgy AF.

        • If people know he is dodgy, then I would say he does not have "a local reputation worth keeping"
The worst ones for overcharging and incompetence and downright bullcrap, I would say are chain mechanics and exhaust places posing as mechanics. Usually semi decent waiting room, younger workers. And if its inner city, they don't care 1% if they see you again or not and they charge as much as possible.

Oh the coffee and juice isn't free, its included in the cost of servicing your car.

The workshop is where dealerships make most of their profits.

Just sharing my experience as i had 2 vw. For my current car ( vw Arteon) I bought a service pack for 4 service around 1k. That include 2 essential and 2 essential plus service. Thats average of $250 / service per year/15000km. My partner drives a toyota corolla and it has a capped price service of around $240 for 1st 5 years.

Now with my older car (VW golf ) the service was around $250 at independent mechanic for just oil change as it needs synthetic. I had some issue with the gearbox and the quote of delearship and the local independent highly rated euro mechanic was very similar. It was way cheaper at a local gearbox specialist.

So from my experience regular service at delearship can be ok price wise if you buy service pack. Independent specialists mechanic are not that much cheaper either but they will probably be more through with the service. Also independent mechanic cannot do everything thats needed. For instance my car needs a steering wheel releted software update that cannot be done outside the delearship.

    • A steering wheel software update is not relevant to this discussion. That is a service bulletin item that must be performed by the dealership, not a paid service. It would be similar to saying an independent mechanic can't perform an airbag recall. I do agree that if you buy a new car, it makes sense to buy the service plan at the same time.

      • Its a paid item. I have to pay for 1 hr labour for the update at the delearship. I spoke details about it to the independent delearship who said that its not only them no every independent repairer in Australia is waiting for vw to give them access since last year.

        • Wait, what?? What is the reason for the update? What car and year?

          • @NoApostrophePlurals: VW Arteon 2018 . It says perform software update with software configuration in powere steering control unit j500.
