  • Anyone using one of these? I've got the 2018 model, wondering if I should upgrade.

    • +2

      Yes and yes

      • The OG watch lasts much longer and goes for 4 days. The Watch 4 only lasts 40 hours.

        • +1

          Just get a Garmin.

  • +2

thanks op, looks like a price error, hopefully they don't cancel

    • Sounds like it's real. I just got a call about it and they did say it was already below retail (Cost?) price. Will pickup today

  • +2

Seems very mixed review. Wear OS, Battery, and GPS dropoff seem to be common gripes.

    • -2

For this price you cant complain about anything.

      • +5

Yes you can, lol. There is a reason it's this cheap to begin with. No one's buying them because of said 'mixed' reviews. People are just looking at the discount pricetag and helping samsung/jb cut their losses.

      • +2

When you are in a position to just throw $165 buying a product that doesn't meet expectation..

      • Ofc you can, wouldn't be worth getting it if it's a pita with those flaws no matter how cheap (although that's the best price I've seen). Better off getting a Fitbit charge 5 that works for the same price imo or Buy right buy once

Depends how much you care about the features and quality, but having to charge every day like a phone is annoying, especially if you track sleep then you won't be wearing it to bed.

    • Other people report better battery life, but in my experience, 24hrs is the limit (44mm). Not great, but definitely usable if you drop it on the charger when you shower.

  • Got one. No issue with the order

  • I have one, it's ok. Worth it for that amount but for fitness was a downgrade from my garmin

    • Why is that? I have a garmin 745 but thinking of getting this

      • +2

Fitness tracking and battery life is more important if you are serious about your fitness regime.

1 day battery is a massive step down imo

  • What a bargain!

  • +2

Highly recommend a Garmin simply due to the battery life.

  • +5

Coming from a fitbit which had a week long battery the watch4 (non lte) one day battery annoys me so much…

  • +1

Got one. Good testing water to see how reliable Wear OS Ecosystem is. Mainly used for fitness only. I still love my Withings Scanwatch.

  • Just received my 4classic the other day. Ordered this one anyway for wife.

  • NFC?

  • +1

Just confirming, you still need a Samsung watch to access 100% of the features right? Like the heart rate or O2 monitors? I'd love LTE but I have a Motorola phone.

    • +40

Yes, you need a Samsung Watch to access the features of a Samsung Watch

    • +5

Just the blood pressure and ecg monitors, every other monitor (including heart rate) works on any android.

I really like this watch as an all rounder. Just charge once a day, no big deal

      • +2

Yes and on top of that if you are even a little bit tech inclined it's easy to enable them for any android phone.

I enabled them, checked that it worked and haven't looked at them again… But if you are the sort of person who needs to constantly monitor their bloody pressure it could be handy.

  • Silver is out already but got the green one! Thanks OP!!!

    • Silver had more stock than green and you were able to C&C, I reckon they pulled the page early and won't honour the price

  • +2

placed the order thanks OP. No idea how it is and it is my first smartwatch. Hope the experience will be good

  • ahh. too slow for the silver one but managed to placed an order for Green. Let's see if they deliver

  • How do you figure out if the 44mm fits your wrist? Or is it easy to adapt after the fact for any wrist?

    • Buy now, work it out later

    • Yes you can get 3rd party bands for probably any wrist size.

  • Tempting, but the 44mm looks huge on most female wrists šŸ˜”

  • Anyone know a good plan for this watch to use the LTE? Never used an esim again. Or can I use my current TPG mobile plan with it?

    • Turn off lte. Use as a Bluetooth.

      • Where I work, I won't be near my phone, so wanted this to message whilst at work.

  • +2

Daily charging sounds painful. What drains the battery so much?
Huawei and Garmin only need once a week charging

    • As much as I want to,I just can't do a 1 day battery life. It must be at least a week and I'll consider it.

    • +1

Most Garmin watches use MIP displays

  • Got a call, cancelled, no stock.

    • Pickup or delivery?

      • Pick up

        • Mine is delivery, arrive tomorrow

  • Ridiculously good value!

  • Thanks for the post , not surprised samsung and jb discounting this . Considering we were able to pick up watch 5 pro for $330ish during the secret sale .
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/770309

    • Yeah, you don't reckon pricing error and ridiculous value? I'm getting FOMO but feel like I should just leave it be given I'm not up with all the different models etc.

      • Yeah pretty sure they are clearing stocks , this year samsung is running mad promotions , either on their website or partnering through retailers like jb.just saw another post where they are clearing stock for watch 2 active lte , that watch had mad battery life.

        • -1

Page taken down so I reckon pricing error.

          • @snoopydoop: Just got a call. No it's real. My call was just because they only have repacked stock and he asked if it is okay with me. I'll get a bit further less.

            • @burningrage: Oh, I didn't mean that stores wouldn't fulfill it. But I do still feel it's a pricing error after having a bit more time to look at historical pricing.

Well done! Wish I'd pulled the trigger.

        • Samsung has to. They saw a terrible return for the last 2 quarters.

They are really going in trouble if sales don't pick up.

    • That's for small amount of targeted people.

      • The secret sale was available all eveyone though , people who didnt get the targetted 20 percent off were able to use bonus trade in off 150. Great deal either way

        • Secret itself wouldn't bring it down to $330ish. If you are talking about 330 then it's targeted.

          • @ce5himm: What i meant was people who didnt get the targeted 20 percent coupon were able to use the $150 bonus trade in to get it down to 330 , add an extra 60 for not sending traded in device which still kept it under 400.

            • @Puru: Well not everyone has eligible item to trade-in right?

  • It's gone. Just missed it during checkout

  • same here… ozbargained!

  • OOS

  • Gah, bought it and then realised it can't do blood pressure tracking on a non-Samsung phone… oh well, for the money it seems like a good foray into the smart watch world.

  • Shows over.

  • Current Gear S3 Frontier works just about fine except for battery due to age, been looking at prices of Galaxy 4 Classic and had been on fence, at this price worth a order now and think later. Now off to checking out comparison reviews.

  • Had one. Returned. Daily charging for a watch is infuriating.

Otherwise its pretty cool piece of tech.

    • What reason did you use for return?

      • After a few months it was lasting less than 30mins (obviously some other issue going on) so Amazon did a full refind.

        • Definitely a faulty one.

          • @ce5himm: Yep, but still annoyed me when it was new. Wheh you need to charge that often you end up forgetting it at home half the time.

    • If anyone had the same concerns over battery. The Watch 5 Pro LTE battery is far superior. I upgraded from a Watch 3 (Wifi) and theres no comparisson.

      • Do tell.
How long does the battery last on that one?
        Thanks.

      • Should be better being a new model and more expensive you'd think.

  • I've had a bit of a look, but can't easily find these answers so I'd be gratful if anyone can help:

How do I get an eSim - is it connected to my current mobile account or is it an entirely separate thing that I'll have to pay for as well as my phone's account?

    Do ColesMobile do eSims?

    • No, only certain plan on certain carriers offers esim.

      • I feared as much. Thanks for reply.

    • Amaysim offers esim

      • That's esim for a phone, not for watch yet.

  • Ordered, but no email from JB.. I suspect my order will be cancelled.

    • You checked junk? I thought I didn't get one either but it was in junk.

      • Yes.. in the junk folder.. and got cancelled.. So YES.. it is junk mail now.

  • fumbling with my gift cards argh! Saw the post without any comments…

  • Amazing deal!! I wish I wasn't at work and saw it earlier. Missed out.

  • Was anyone able to snag one, seems like everyone's order got cancelled

    • I think most of those cancelled order were pickup orders

    • +1

Ordered for delivery…no cancellation email so far.

  • Same here no cancellation so far

    • I'll update if there are any changes

      • Got my tracking details, so it's not a price error n orders are not cancelled šŸ™‚

        • +1

sure not a price error, i received it on 10am. much lighter than my gw4c, i kind like this. lol

  • No cancellation for delivery (yet)

  • +1

Piss poor battery and not worth it. Good luck getting it to last an entire day if you actually use it for workouts. Sold mine mine asap last time for a watch 5 pro. People will be flooding fb marketplace/ebay when they realise and re-sell at a loss, just like with previous sales for this watch. Also this price is nothing to be surprised about. People are cutting their spending and these watches have several negative reviews. Not to mention reports of samsung having a high amount of unsold watches and phones. Just wait for the watch 5 pro to go on sale next.

    • What if not for fitness/workouts purpose?

      • +1

Got it to last slightly over a day with just bluetooth + notification usage and aggressive battery saver settings. My watch 5 pro lasts 4-5 days with the same minimal usage. ~3 days with fitness

        • i have a gw4c non lte last around 55 hours, considering this 4 lte has the same battery size and will be set as bluetooth mode only. i will be happy if it can last at least 35-45 hours
