Reminds me of the EB Games "sales"

    • +6

Any idea when was the last time a non-affiliated person posted an AirJo "deal"?

  • +7

Maybe a 50% off next time just for ozb.

    • +1

      60% is fair

      • +2

        70% is good

    • 50% off the new price +$5

  • +14

I do agree this is probably the standard price at this point. Not a real deal even if it's good quality beans.

    • +11

LimeBlue, Inglewood and Undercover all do better beans / deals at this price point.

      • All i need now is a taste comparison table!

    • +5

Got inflated by ~$3 a few months ago too.

I used to buy solely from them but I've stopped because it's annoying having to wait a few days for a sale if I need a bag, and their regular price is unjustifiable given the frequency of sale.

I also don't like the new Sumatra as much as the old one, and I felt the rep was being a little deceitful in this interaction in regards to the change:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12932605/redirt

Open to shopping with them again in the future but yeah a bit turned off for a few reasons.

EDIT: But I will say it was always quick reliable postage, and beans were fairly good. Just personally a little turned off for aforementioned reasons.

    • +2

Agree. Waiting for a real deal.

  • +2

I like this coffee and have to say I’m not sick of saving 40%.

    Thanks Airjo.

Thanks Tux! Great to see you are happy and thanks for sharing.

I’m hoping you guys ignore some of the comments here. My wife and I have cappuccinos and have found Sumatra blend to be consistent.

I find it funny that you offer a regular discount and the Ozbargainers bag you out for doing so.

        • -2

Hey Tux. We certainly ignore some of them :)
We are always open to feedback good or bad as it helps us improve.

Super pleased you guys are enjoying the blend. Thank you.

          Cheers
          Dan

    • +11

Are you really saving 40% if it's the same discount every month though…?

This reminds me of the Dick Smith 'sales' a few years back

      • +7

I consider $22 for 500g of high quality coffee delivered to my door overnight to be a deal, personally.

        • If RRP was $22, with no 'sales' each month, you'd still be supportive?

          • +6

@spackbace: Absolutely. Otherwise I'd be going to Merlo and paying $28 for coffee I like less. If I'm getting 1kg it'd be $33 vs $49.

I think people forget that a deal isn't just something "on sale", and instead just a bargain. Which I find Airjo to consistently deliver.

        • I consider $22 for 500g of high quality coffee delivered

          Tough call.

Delivery is going to be $9 or so.
It leaves $13 for the coffee.
For this price it will be the bottom of the range in single origin.
For a reference, I checked wholesale price for green coffee and the lowest single origin was around $11 per kg.

It means you will be charging $2 for roasting. Considering the price of the roaster, gas and electricity prices this doesn't look like a sustainable business.

Edit: my bad, you were talking about 0.5kg, not 1kg.
It means $26/kg for the coffee. This might work.
Let me think about it. :)

  • +11

Out of 4 coffee beans Brands This has been the worst I have tried. P&R my favourite followed by Campos beans. Even Aldi one was Good. Never buying again.

    • Hey there Eddy. Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your order.

      Dan

  • This or Campos?

    • -2

      Those

      • What is the price difference though - $33 for 1kg delivered vs…?

        • I buy Campos from Woolies, and they have increased the prices by a few dollars, 49$ for 1 kg, I guess, and 29$ for 500g. The problem is, they're always past 15 days mark from roasting so not as fresh

          • @sqheaven: I was joking when I said those 😂

Campos sucks, it's my backup beans if I run out and guests are coming over that's all.

Always Airjo. Also, some of my friends love it.

          • @sqheaven: Short of visiting the roasters, online order is probably the only certain way to get freshly roasted beans.

Marrickville in Sydney has a few good ones.

            • @browser: You know my favorite beans is double Roasters, I get them fresh from a nearby cafe, I might jinx the deal I get 😂

          • @sqheaven: Problem with buying from a supermarket is you don't know how long they've been sitting in the bag. At least directly from the roaster you're more likely (perhaps rep can speak to this) of getting fresher beans.

            • @Ham Dragon: You read the roast date on the packet… If there is no roast date, put the packet back onto the shelf, those packets are reserved for drongos only.

              • +1

@Grish: And if you can't find a suitable packet? I guess the moral of the story is buying direct guarantees you'll get the freshest product, and the added bonus of supporting a small business instead of a megacorp, with no harm to your own budget done.

  • +3

I got the last batch - terrible for espresso, so over-roasted. Maybe OK in a milk drink.

    • Hey there moooz - sorry to hear it didn't work for you.
Always happy to help with dialling in if we can. Most of our sales of this one are for espresso and the feedback is always positive.

We have a general guide to dialling in here if that helps https://airjo.com/pages/dialling-in or you can always reach out any time for help.

Happy to help whenever we can.

      Cheers

  • We are still enjoying your Sumatra Roast for Latte. Thanks for the monthly 40% off deal. This is a reasonable price point. Would like to also try any other darker roasted blends at this price point if you have any

  • -1

Hey there Mirage and thanks for sharing.
Great to hear you are enjoying the Sumatra!

We do have similar sales on the darker blends also.
If you are subscribed to our email list you will get notification of when they drop.

I hope that helps and thanks again.

    Cheers
    Dan

  • Love your coffee, the Sumatra is the king! Thanks!

  • Need a deal on something besides Sumatra.
Had it last 2 deliveries, Girlfriend doesn't like it that much..

  • I bought 1kg of Sumatra a month or two ago. Found it ran very fast for my typical grind and once I slowed it down a bit it still wasn't quite to my taste. That being said the rep responded to my comments on the post quickly, post was fast, and the quality of the bean appeared to be good even if it wasn't quite what I was looking for. I'm glad I tried it and compared to buying 5x250g packs from Normcore most recently (which was twice the price, and I didnt come close to liking 2 of the blends) or even buying 1kg from 5 Senses (which I liked more, but was more expensive) was a decent price for the amount of coffee I got. Would I buy again? Probably not. But if I liked the beans I definitely would have, and I'll probably give some of their other products a go if theres a decent deal on them in the future. As with most coffee bean deals, it comes down to your taste and preference, but if you're trying a bunch of different beans to find something you like, you could do far worse than giving these a try.

    • Thanks for sharing. Any recommendations?

  • Love the Sumatra blend, getting a really good caramel flavor out of it.

  • Great coffee thanks for always supplying

  • Airjo Sumatra is the worst coffee I ever had. Lazio Dark 1kg $11.90 from Aldi is much better and costs only a third of Sumatra on “special”. Don’t get fooled!

    • +1

What if you don't live near an ALDI, North QLD for example.

      • +2

Where exactly in North QLD? Afaik there are nice rosters in QLD who offer coffee for a a fair price.

        • +1

There's no ALDI north of Rocky.

  • Don't roast them because they are offering a discount. I was happy with my order and product last time. Will order again. Thsnks

    • +1

      discount

  • +3

    Airjo coffee gives me headaches

  • If you would like to have some really nice coffee from QLD and you are happy to spend some extra $ try these guys. I have visited them myself on my travels and I was really impressed! https://www.mareebacoffee.com.au/home

  • +5

I enjoy the coffee, but this is getting to the point where we're being treated like idiots, as if this is such an amazing deal. Gaming the system to generate monthly sales. Over it. :)

    • +2

I said this months ago and got negged, glad people are finally coming to their senses

  • Hey OP, is this blend good for cappuccinos on Barista Express? Also, what's the strength like (out of 10)? Thanks.

  • Best customer service ever

    • Sarcasm?

      • +1

I had a problem with my order and they sorted it asap, even after busi ess hours. I think Airjo is good. We dont have an Aldi in our state. Stopping negging them just because you dont like it.

        • +1

I neg them not because of not liking them. The reason is offering average coffees for a high price with a big discount, to make it look like a good deal. The customer service I experienced with my order was also not better than average.

  • +1

Got the Sumatra blend about a month back and my wife and I love it (it's honestly some of best beans I've had from an online roaster). Interesting to see some views here that are the opposite of that. Different tastes I guess.

  • I love the Saratoga… but alas, no deal on that.

  • +1

Sumatra is my favorite blend and I order it regularly (with %25-%40 discount). I find it miles better than anything available in Aldi or other supermarket stores. I also prefer it over all other coffee brands mentioned here like Merlo, LimeBlue, Manna and Inglewood. $33 with express delivery & great customer service is a bargain price for me so I am happy to see these deals coming up monthly. It seems obvious going through the comments that Airjo isn't meeting everyone's expectations. Though if it is not a bargain for you, it is for others! yes their RRP is not realistic but that is the case for most coffee brands.

    • +1

yes their RRP is not realistic

And now you've discovered why the negative comments on their posts.

It's not hard to just drop your RRP and cut out the whole 'sale' posts every month

      • It's not hard to just drop your RRP

Yes that would make sense presuming they only sell to OzBargain customers at the discounted price. If a decent percentage of their sales fall within the non-promotional period (90% of the month), I don't see why they would be interested to drop their RRP.

  • Hey if Sumatra is a light roast then what temperature do you recommend?
