I have one of these and it's a cracking watch but it's worth noting that Garmin now offers a similar feature set on newer hardware in the forerunner 265. It costs nearly twice as much but it will be supported for much longer than this will.
This is still a deal but worth knowing going in…
I wouldn’t be too worried about support as Garmin will likely support the watch well after you get whooed into their latest watch features.
…"Battery life 6 Hours" woohoo that's impressive
edit: love the negs when that's what Amazon have in the description :)
Whilst this is true, it's a bit misleading. 6hrs is relevant when GPS tracking and bluetooth (for music) is on, so probably representative of tracking a sporting event or long hike. I don't use these myself and I still get about 5 days out of a charge, watch purchased NOV 2021.
Wow, I thought it was the usual Amazon description error, but apparently not?
Nope. These watches have short battery lives when playing music. 6 hours is actually decent
@SlappersOnly: Not Fenix 6/7 series. Went on a hike just today to the beautiful Macedon Ranges (definitely recommend the long walking trail circuit if you haven't tried!) with my Fenix 6X for 5 hours with music and activity tracking on continuously. Battery 76% still.
Yes more expensive, but ~$200 is probably worth the premium for Series 6 for considerably longer battery life - 6 hours does seem quite limiting depending on how active you are.
But each to their own, but I am in agreement with @MMM
@Lucille Bluth: Interesting. Here’s some online specs
Fenix 7: Up to 18 days in Smartwatch mode, Up to 57 hours in GPS mode, Up to 10 hours GPS/Music mode
Fenix 6s: Up to 9 days in Smartwatch mode, Up to 25 hours in GPS mode, Up to 6 hours GPS/Music mode
Fenix 6x: Up to 21 days in Smartwatch mode, Up to 60 hours in GPS mode, Up to 15 hours GPS/Music mode
Fenix 6x: Up to 21 days in Smartwatch mode, Up to 60 hours in GPS mode, Up to 15 hours GPS/Music mode
Apologies, not quite 5 hours, checked again and was closer to 4 hours - forgot I paused my hike activity and had lunch. Didn't consider the 6X would have the longer battery of the other 6 series watches.
But yes this does sound about right 15 hours GPS/Music mode and my battery is as of writing 76% for my 6X Pro. Currently $688 through JB/Amazon, but if you wait can be had for less if patient (which honestly is pretty frequent).
@Lucille Bluth: Nice. Something to think about. I’m still undecided whether I need a fitness watch. Currently just using my phone in a running belt.
@Lucille Bluth: Does it stop the GPS if you pause the activity to save the battery? I have Venu 2 Plus, very happy with it.
@Lucille Bluth: 5 hours? That's terrible, Coros is the golden standard!
Btw not being serious as 5 hours is fine but there is better.
So similar or better than an Apple watch
Good price, I got mine for $380 as eBay were having a 20% off sale when rebel dropped there price in November last year.
All shit colours
I couldn't see a brown version
Depending on your diet, @jatbinks might still have a point.
I own one and can can say if it's for outdoor hiking activities, playing music is not a priority and the battery does last very much longer than many other brands.
Garmin Forerunner 945 is on sale for $499
https://www.rebelsport.com.au/p/garmin-forerunner-945-runnin…
which do you reckon is better?
This or the 945??
For those happy to wait, it's been cheaper. $346 from Rebel with CR in Sept last year.
what's their ebay store name or link? Trying to search and its taking me to rebel clothing
need the T-Rex 2 to come on sale.
Was on special for the same price in November 2022 (Garmin website and Rebel)
Bought Magma Red, loving it!
Definitely a great value for this price.
