New to Marley Spoon? Need a voucher?
Order now & get up to $180 off your first 4 boxesFood looks fantastic though
5 meals for 4 people each week
(20 portions in total - $8.49 per portion)
Shipping $10.49
Total weekly cost 180.29That's crazy. I pay 100-120 for 63 portions a week, (3 meals per day x 7 days x 3 people) [Bolognese, spaghetti marinara, tuscan meatballs, lasagna, chicken stirfry, char siu pork, home made sushi + sandwiches, wraps, sausage rolls with veg + cereals/toast]
It depends on what you consider to be value.
Based on number of portions, of course you’re right. Even a business serving exactly what you buy yourself would need to add on top to turn a profit.
But I have MarleySpoon and I value not having to think about what to shop, saving time on the shop (going to the supermarket, etc.). And I also get introduced to new recipes and ingredients I wouldn’t ordinarily use or think of.
You might still think it’s not worth it, and that’s fine.
It’s like how some people see value in a robot vacuum cleaner, and others question why those people can’t just get a normal vacuum and quickly get the job done and save their money.
EDIT: Maybe some competition could help with reducing costs, but I don’t see any (I don’t rate HelloFresh as they seem to be in a lower-tier for me…).

tried both hellofresh and marley spoon for the 'free box'
from the initial box i got hellofresh had fresher vegetables but marley spoon had better recipes. i dont like the idea that you have to order for the following week because i dont usually know what i want to eat the following week but it's decent if you want to plan your food in advance
SP60 will give you 60% off next box if you have currently paused your membership and start up again.
Had to start avoiding the "low carb" options as they are just smaller portions. We usually get 4 portions and use 2 of the portions for lunch the next day. With the low carb recipes, we would get 3 regular sized meals.
We just switch between Marley and Hello when the retention discounts come in. When neither have a code, we just cancel subscription and go back to buying and cooking our own meals. Haven't paid full price for a box in 3+ years.
Code doesn't work anymore?
Roughly how much are we talking per box/meal?
