Trade in page

Trade in Terms & Conditions

•Samsung Galaxy S23 5G 128GB or 256GB eligible for $400 Bonus Coupon with Trade in

•Samsung Galaxy S23+ 5G 256 or 512GB eligible for $450 Bonus Coupon with Trade in

• Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G 256GB, 512 GB, 1 TB eligible for $500 Bonus Coupon with Trade in

JB are currently having a $200 discount on all S23 models, so it should stack nicely with the trade in promo Credit to @BargainsGrabber

Plus if you make the effort you can save an additional 10% off via gift cards (returned via loyalty points) from Coles or Woolworths this week ;) Again full Credit to @BargainsGrabber

One more credit to @mandelbrot Fyi for those that did the trade in with the flip 4 deal last week, you can use the bonus coupons from there without having to do another trade in

According to previous post people reported that if you cancel the trade in with Squaretrade (the trade in provider). They don't charge you for the bonus trade in coupon. So essentially you are charged only for the trade in value (if you don't send the trade in phone) and still keep the bonus $400 ~$500 bonus coupon. I haven't tried it. And this is according to the comments of previous post.

Campaign: 6 April 23 - 30 April 23
Redeemable end date: 30 April 23 11:59pm
Please note that this campaign will require a 7-day return period

    • wait…I thought the following is how it calculates?
      trade-in S22 value: $400

Thus, to get S23: $1149 - $400 = $749 (could be less if paying using JB giftcard)

      • +2

        trade-in S22 value: $400
        Trade in bonus: $400
Thus, to get S23: $1149 - $400 -$400= $349 (could be less if paying using JB giftcard)

        • I'm confused, it came as $749 to me.
I see no 'trade in bonus' as defined on the ad?

@BigLeviathan: The code you used was the "Bonus Coupon Offer" ($400 for S23).
You also said you are trading in a S22, with a value of $400 (you would have receipt a separate code for this. This is entered on the next page during payment).
The end result is an additional $349 payment by you to complete the transaction.

  • I got offered $95 for my S10+ in pristine condition. Depreciation is insane, but I guess it's already recieved the last android update and there are plenty of newer galaxy phones on the second hand market making it less appealing. I still think given it's got a headphone jack and expandable storage a good condition one is worth a couple hundred but alas i guess if you aren't penalised for not sending in the phone then still a good way to get an extra $500 discount. I wish companies would stop inflating prices and offering all these sales/schemes to get discounts and instead just priced them at a reasonable level.
Do you think if they charged $1k for ultra, $900 for + & $800 for standard but the price was firm with no sales (except maybe 5-10% in the couple months before new model release) they'd be dramatically worse off?
I think most people would appreciate the better pricing and upgrade more often but who knows maybe the higher price makes people believe it's a better, more exclusive product.

Tempting but there is a well known halo blur on the photos that's a hardware defect and can't be fixed with software update

    • Any details on the problem?

  • My Huawei P30 Pro has no trade-in value surprisingly. Didn't wanna trade it as it's still an amazing phone, just wanted to see what they think it's worth. Nothing apparently, told me to recycle it haha

    • I think all the Huawei models on the page have no trade-in values haha

  • Can you use your perks coupon on top?

    • +1

Coupon is valid for one use only, expires 28 days after signup. Cannot be used in conjunction with any other coupon. Balance is not transferable or redeemable for cash. Redeemable at any JB Hi-Fi Australia store, excluding airport locations in a single transaction. Coupon cannot be used on Telstra & Foxtel Services, Miele & Asko, Dell & Apple Built To Order, Prepaid Cards & Gift Cards, Pre-Orders, Extended Warranties & Delivery purchases.

      So I am guessing no?

      • Yeah I tried it in store and online, didn't stack.

  • What does it mean by " require a 7 day return period"

    • You must pack and ship off your old phone within 7 days

Does anyone tried to trade in surface pro 5? My serial seems not accepted

    • Same for my pro 6, in the FAQ section it says get in contact with them with your serial number and they'll verify it then whitelist it and should then be fine.

  • Any case recommendations for the S23+?

  • page says my fully functional, like new condition S10 is not worth anything for trade in. $0???

  • -1

This deal looks good initially until I did the numbers.
    S22 - 256GB = $430 tradein + $400 bonus = $800 credit to buy an S23 256GB ($1249).
    $1249-800 = $449 extra payment.

The S22 is worth $700 resale but for simplicity say its $800 the same value as the credit.

You're still paying the price difference to end up paying full price value of the phone……….. $1249

    There's no saving here.

    • +12

No one is going to pay 700 or 800 for a second hand s22….

So, with trade-in credit, 10% gift card discount and $200 off, phone prices come down to…?

    • S23 5G 128GB $674
    • S23 5G 256GB $764
    • S23+ 5G 256GB $899
    • S23+ 5G 512GB $1075
    • S23 Ultra 5G 256GB $1124
    • S23 Ultra 5G 512GB $1394
    • S23 Ultra 5G 1TB $1754
  • For swapping gc at jbhifi, wasn't there $500 max limit?

I am very interested in this deal, hoping that someone can answer these questions thanks, i'm planning not to return my trade in phone:

1 - Although there are comments that if we do not return the trade in phone, we only get charged the trade in value, no admin fee with Square trade and keep the trade in bonus, is it written anywhere in writing we can do this?

2 - OP's comment is that if we 'cancel' the trade in, do we need to actually take action to cancel or just not trade in?

3 - Can we use the same phone IMEI / app process for both JBHifi and Samsung deals and not return the trade in?

4- If we do not trade it in, could our credit rating be impacted?

5 -Can we combined this deal with TRS refund and if so which value will they base this on?

6 - where is everyone's go to place to get JBhifi discounted gift card?

Answering any part of the above is fine thank you.

    • re: 1/2 Its in the FAQs >>https://www.jbhifi.com.au/pages/jbtradein

You need to contact Square trade promptly to say you arent doing trade in and they will then charge your Credit card that value

    • -1

Why dont you ask jb and samaung to give you the phone for free and also pay you for all the effort?

    • 3 - Unsure if my refurb phone was done through JB, but after going through the Samsung trade-in code (in the other deal) it is listing the IMEI as blocked in JB's (it isn't in https://amta.org.au/check-the-status-of-your-handset/)

  • K I got the flip4 from that last deal and I'm really not liking it. Has anybody worked out the cost of trading the flip4 for the s23+?

    • Same. Im flipping my flip 4 online. JB trade in value for my flip 4 512gb was $600, I am sure i can get more than that in a private sale.

    • Curious to reason why you didn't like the flip 4? e.g. battery, form factor, camera?

      • The camera on my S20+ which I traded in was better I feel. The opening and folding of the phone is just a waste of time and I'm now looking for a case that can just keep it locked in an upright position. The phone has a more narrow form factor when compared to its length. Battery is kinda ok

    • Legit what I'm wanting to do. Waiting for a good deal on a S23 to do a price match and hopefully get one for not that much extra.

  • What a privacy invasive process to get your trade in going, unbelievable.

  • Hi I’m trying to trade in my note 4 and note 9 but it’s saying $0 trade in value.

Does this mean I won’t be eligible for the bonus discount on the S23?

    • +1

Correct. In order to get bonus discount coupon the trade value of the device needs to be $10 or over.

      • Damn

      • I traded an iPhone x for $5 and got the $500 bonus coupon

    • +1

Which phone are you looking to get? I can provide you with a code for S23 or S23+

      • I’m good mate. Thanks anyway 👍

      • hey mate do you mind I grab a code off you for S23+?

        • I can't pm you. Send me a pm

      • Hi, do you still have the S23 code? Can I have it if you aren't using it?
        Thanks

        • +1

Sorry mate. Already gave it out

  • Finally after thinking it over i decide to go with this deal…and site doesnt load. Guess thats an omen!

    • Yeah SquareTrade server seems to be down.

  • +1

Thanks OP, got a S23 Plus by trading my Pixel 6.

I had an issue when processing the payment and thought to share if it helps anyone. It seems you have to scan the $450 bonus trade-in voucher before the actual trade-in credit gift card that you get from SquareTrade, in my case the $220 I got for my Pixel 6.

I scanned the $220 trade-in credit gift card first and then when I showed the bonus $450 voucher the lady said it won't work. You have to scan the bonus $450 voucher first before any other gift card/voucher/bank card. She had to cancel the order, give me a credit of $220 and then make the payment in the right order.

This was my experience but it may vary from store to store, just thought to share.

    • That was the way the store I went to processed. He said the Bonus voucher would need scanning first, then the trade in.

  • Does the bonus credit come together with the trade in credit as a single voucher or 2 separate vouchers?

    • +1

      2 separate vouchers.

      • Thanks. I'm guessing you enter it into the promo area at checkout? But I thought you couldn' stack voucher codes

        • +1

Trade in credit is a giftcard, bonus credit is a promotional credit. So you are only using one voucher basically

  • Nothing for the S10e 128GB :(

    • Same, i was shocked

  • +1

Thanks OP, picked mine up today. S23 Galaxy 128GB for $599. Considering this was released last year for $1349, that is an epic deal.

    • +1

      Glad I could help. 👍

    • $599 - how? Price matched another store at $999? Was released this year btw, not last.

      • +1

$400 trade-in coupon + $80 trade in credit for an Apple iPhone 8 (which is basically worthless at this point and will no longer be updated next year)

Bought with gift cards with 20x Woolworths Rewards points

The Galaxy S23 is currently discounted by $200

        (1349 - 200 - 400 - 80) x 0.9 = $602 . Must have miscalculated by $3.

I would also say it's a greater discount imo, since I value the 6k Qantas points at more than $60.

      • If you bought the Flip4 last week and then traded it in last week for $550 you could get it for $299.

  • -5

Hmmmm i wonder if they'll accept my samsung galaxy S4 as a trade-in…..

  • What happens if Square Trade Up don't receive the trade in phone within 14 days?

Bought the Z Flip 4 during the Easter sale on the 6th and could only hand the old phone in to AusPost on Tuesday the 11th as they were closed over the Easter break. As luck would have it, the phone still hasn't been delivered to Square Trade up and AusPost said they would investigate if the shipment isn't delivered by the 26th, but that wouldn't meet Square Trade up's requirement of receiving the phone within 14 days?

Surely Square Trade Up shouldn't be charging customers a 'non return fee' for delays caused by AusPost?

    • Just contact them…. send an email… they pretty good with responses.

  • +1

If my phone is not elligible for trade in, could I grab an IMEI from a device at home and say it has such and such defects (valuing it at say $50), claim the trade in voucher and only have to pay back the $50 trade in value?

  • -1

So I went to tradein my flip 4 for a s23+. Went through the process of the flip4 tradein and all seemed good. Until the said to "verify it is really my device" they wont release the tradein voucher until after they have received my device. This is after they received a picture of me with my device and that I have a mobile extras package on this device with them.
Absolutely pathetic. And I thought Asurion was bad. This takes the cake in the worst service I have ever gotten with a trade-in.

    • -1

So after 5000 people from ozbargain rort the system by doing the trade in process and then just kept their trade in, they are now garbage for trying to ensure you are legit?
      Poor baby…

      • -2

So you don't see how inconvenient they made the tradein process by making it so you'd be without a phone for a week or 2?
Well, they actually made that easier to do your so called rort. They gave me the trade-in bonus code but not the tradein voucher. So i have cancelled the tradein but got my $450 off on the s23+. So it means i pay the tradein amount. Oh well, I'll give that phone to my daughter instead.
edit: your name is familiar. you're that douche that used to cry so much in battlefield. yeah, loser.

        • If the deal is so bad, then don't do it. Is that so hard? They are not holding a gun to your head and begging to give you $450 off your sale.
So your method of feeling better in this conversation is to say I suck at a computer game I've never played? Are you gonna call my mum names next?
And you thought they were pathetic…
Did you tell them they suck at Battlefield too? lol

  • oof, only $80 trade in for a S10+

    • Really? I got $95 for mine just the other day.

  • Used iPhones 8, X, XR and SE2020 seem to be the best options for trade in value, and most will still have a default value even in a very worn state.

    • Thanks for the info, much appreciated

  • I just got a 15% off email for JB email membership. Will I be able to stack with that?

    • interested to know too
but the T&C said "Cannot be used in conjunction with any other coupon"

      • +4

I saw that but I'm still going to try use it and will post how it goes.

        • +5

You can't use the coupon codes together. It gives the error "Better coupon applied" and applies $500 off depending on what you're purchasing.

  • I did all verification on mobile and completed, then on desktop click next, it shows "I am sorry ID Verification was not approved, please try again", any one had same issue?

  • +1

Hey all, a heads up you can negotiate an S23 Ultra down to 1650 in live chat.

Actually got it to $1619 but had to bundle in a $40 case that they would discount to $20.

    • Which S23 Ultra? 256GB?

    • Hi mate, which retail did you use to price match? best I can neg with them is 1700. Can you give some advise how to deal with them?

      • confirmed, I just did the same thing via live chat & best I can get is 1697.

      • I am interested to know too. Btw do you think the Samsung S23 Ultra it's worth the extra.money over the S23 plus?

      • A mate was able to negotiate 1689. def not as good as 1650

        • You reckon Jb hifi would price match Telstra offer on the Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus 256GB? I tried on chat, and I was unsuccessful. Maybe instore they will?

          • @Scrooge McDeal: I think Telstra deal is already finished. It was $1299 for S23 plus yesterday

    • I got $1678 with s23 ultra 256gb and samsung silicone case

  • If you have any codes to spare, please add them to the Code Giveaway Megathread. No code requests in the comments (in this or the giveaway thread).

  • if you successfully get a trade in code, and don't return the trade in phone, what happens? With the Samsung deal they simply charge a $30 or $60 late fee. With the JB deal, is there a late fee? Do they charge back the value of the trade? Do you lose the $400 trade in bonus?

    • According to people's comments if you don't return the trade in phone, they just charge you for the value of that phone. No late fees. And also you still keep the Bonus $400~ $500 coupon.

    • I emailed SquareTrade last night and this is what they wrote back:

      Thank you for contacting us.
We have now canceled your order, including charging your Credit Card for the JB Hi-Fi Trade-in Credit.
We will not charge you for the coupon barcode selected.
Your credit card details (token) have been released and no credit card details are held.

      • Would they know if you bought the s23 using the trade in code and bonus coupon? Because if you bought S23 using both codes and they're not going to charge for not returning the old phone, surely that's not possible?

        • I was only charged the trade-in value for my phone $95. Not the $400 coupon.

    • You dont lose the bonus $400 or $500 - you just get charged the Trade in value for your old phone. Confirmed via Email from Square trade as well as the charge on my CC equal to what the trade in value was going to be for the phone I was originally going to trade.

I used both vouchers when I initially bought the phone - they need to be done in the correct order

  • The squaretradeup page is buggy for me. I enter the phones details no worries. It then wants to do identity verification and gives me a QR code. My phone loads this fine. Takes a pic of my drivers license and my face and then says verification complete - Click next on your desktop. I click next and it pops up 'ok' with no other text. Page just sits there. If i click next again, a message comes up saying verification failed.

    • Have you got a trade-in in progress already? Of you do, then SquareTrade only allows one at a time

  • Is there a way to check your trade in value of your phone without doing all the app download etc etc? They use to have a drop down list and values last time I bought the 21 ultra.
