Which restaurant does best restaurants cover? Mcas ? KFC? Normal court food or normal restaurants?

  • Good deals. Is Bupa on the discounted gift card page so we can see how they compare?

You need to sign in with your membership to see all the discounted card deals. I wrote the ones that I thought most people would be interested in, in the description. Oh now I understood the question. You can check and compare here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/discounted_egift_cards?s[]=gift&s[]=cards

Bupa is mentioned in the first table on the wiki page (which lists different gift card portals), but the gift card discounts are not in the second table.

I'm not overly surprised no one has added it to the second table, because doing so would take over an hour and would be an absolute pain… I updated the HCF Thank You entries a couple of weeks ago and it was extremely tedious.

    • Added to the Discounted eGift Cards wiki table.

I kept asking them to remove the credit/debit card surcharge and they finally did :D Otherwise, it was a total waste of time.

    • I'm glad they didn't do what HCF Thank You did last month; they removed the 1% card surcharge and also decreased the gift card discounts by 1%, which means you now actually pay more for gift cards…

      • which means you now actually pay more for gift cards

Are you saying if I wanted to buy a $100 eBay GC from HCF Rewards, I would have to fork out more than $100?

        • +1

Not quite (although I can see why you thought I meant that). For example:

          • If I purchased a $500 Amazon gift card, under the old system, the gift card would be discounted by 5%, bringing the cost down to $475. However, a 1% surcharge would be applied to the gift card's cost, bringing it up to $479.75.

          • If I now purchase a $500 Amazon gift card under the new system, the gift card would be discounted by 4%, bringing the cost down to $480.

Yes, it is only a few cents difference, but it is hard not to see it as a way for Blackhawk Network (who run Lifestyle Rewards, the company that operates HCF Thank You) to eek out even more money from people… then again, it is a more transparent way of operating the gift card portal, because under the old system, the percentage discount was kinda misleading, considering there was no fee-free way to pay for gift cards on the portal before the surcharge removal.

Still, nowhere near as bad as Australia Post's discounted gift card portal for PO Box customers. That gift card portal charges a 2% credit card fee or a 4.9% PayPal fee, so if you purchase a WISH gift card (sold at a 2% discount) and pay via credit card or PayPal, you will actually pay more than face value for the gift card…

      • I did not notice it, I only really bought Woolworth GC. It was 3% on Suncorp, and now I get it at 4% at Bupa.

PSA, make sure you buy "super gift cards" to shop at SCA, not SCA cards as it's an extra 3% off for the same thing.

Also, I updated this "no more credit card fees" about a month ago on the ozbargain gift card registry, didn't post a deal though lol.

Yeah I saw that someone updated it in the wiki when someone asked here if there is a way to compare. I was browsing on the Bupa Life Rewards when I done a search to see if there is a deal posted for it. Then I realized the difference was that there is no more credit card fees. Previous deal with the transaction fees was not worth it. But now with no transaction fees I think it's worth considering.

  • Anyone know how frequent the ikea gift card is discounted? And how much can I expect? I know it was once 10% a few years back.

Need the Aldi 10% off Amazon black Friday sales again!

  • Finally makes Amazon worth

  • Thanks for reminding me to use it!

  • Credit card fee appears to now be removed!

  • Does anyone know or can they share was the elevated tier gift card discounts are at level 2?

Level 1 is for Bupa customers 0-5 years
Level 2 if for Bupa customers 6-10 years
