  • What's a CCT LED?

    • +1

You can adjust the color temperature of the light. According to the description, there are 3 discrete color temperature settings (some other LEDs allow you to vary the color temperature continuously).

CCT refers to Colour Changing Technology. While most LED panels are one temperature, meaning you decide the warmth of light pre-purchase, CCT allows you to change the LED’s colour temperature on the fly.

Probably internally it switches between having the warm white LEDs on, daylight LEDs on, or both LEDs on for the middle value.

      • Thanks

        • Correct. There’s a switch underneath the light cover that allows you to change the colour temperature of the light.

  • When choosing ceiling fans, is it a choice between wall control or remote control, or can you have both simultaneously? I presume it’s the former, not the latter.

    • +1

With DC fans, remote only seems to be 'normal'

But you can have both for some models, we do.

      Ie.
      https://www.universalfans.com.au/online/hunter-pacific-polar…

      Plus the wall control 'accessory'

      • How do you find the wall control?
Be good if it could control multiple as have two in the same room.

    • +1

I could only get DC with remote, or AC with wall.
I didn't find any with both a few years ago.
Though the DC fan I got has a little wall bracket to leave the remote in just near the overall power switch.

The DC fan i have has a light, and if you switch of the main power then on again not to fast it will switch the light on so you can find the remote somewhere in the dark room :).

    • Hey Rep, is the regular wall dial that controls the 3 speeds of the fan a.k.a. as a "dimmer"?

  • What does the measurement mean "ceiling to bottom of fan" with a light? Is it to the absolute bottom which includes the light or is it to the fan blade?
I've got a fan with 17cm to the blade so your low profile at 25cm doesn't seem so great.

    • That’s correct.
17cm from ceiling to the bottom of the blade sounds exceptionally shallow! Also take into consideration, The less distance between ceiling and fan blades; the less effective the fans become.

Most fans these days are around 30cm to the bottom of the blades. This allows a minimum 2.1m from the floor on the average 2.4m ceiling height.

The height to the bottom of the fan, would be to the absolute lowest point, which would be the bottom of the light cover.

  • Newb Questions

Can I buy an 900mm extension and cut it into 3 sections to use with 3 fans?

It says up to 13 deg. What happens when it is slightly more?

    • +1

Yes you can, but each rod comes with its own dedicated wiring loom. Being a DC fan, it can get quite complicated and messy extending cables. It would honestly be better to buy 3 rods, and cut each one to size, than for an electrician to muck around extending the cables.

If the ceiling pitch is slightly more, the fans start hanging on an angle, as the ball joint on the canopy bracket can only handle up the recommended ceiling pitch.

    DC DC DC DC….. euughhh

  • Once these CCT leds die (out of warranty period), is it easy to replace them ?
If so, do you stock the replacement leds and would you have a price for them ?

  • +3

Can you purchase spare lights for the fans. We had 2 fans with built in lights and cannot get replacements

    • +1

      Yep same here.
It is ridiculous to even have to consider having to replace the entire ceiling fan by engaging an electrician, only because these fancy ceiling fan manufacturers cannot/do not want end user to replace faulty/broken lights.
Talk about forced obsolescence nonsense, this takes it to a new level.

    • Personally I wouldn't recommend buying a fan with an inbuilt light at all.
Get LED downlights installed and a light-less fan.

  • Any recommendations for a fan with controls at a switch and via the remote?

  • Any user experience on how good these are?

  • Can these replace existing fans with the 3speed dial switch on the wall plate?

    • +1

Yes but the dial won't work. The switch will control on or off.

  • Get a smart ceiling fan if you can. There has been so many times I have to get up and find the remote while laying on the couch scrolling on my phone.

  • Do any of these fans have a wall controller (extra purchase is okay) that fits the standard light switch plate same as AC fans?
Looking for something that does not run off batteries or detach from the wall to get lost or broken.

  • I just want to share the fact that Eglo warranty is an in-home warranty. We have an electrician coming next week to replace a full fan, and an LED array that has wigged out.
