lol i asked them for discount from 200 yesterday and they declined so i went with someone else today.

    • —and then ported back

      🕶️

      • +1

nope, went somewhere cheaper i dont mind. boost was $135 for with more data last year.

  • After the one year, what do I do? I can't get another deal because I'm not a new customer.

    • I’m on the same boat

    • +2

port out to a rival network. port back as a new customer.

    • +9

I did this just last week and was a 10min process. Was on an existing $200 boost sim that was expiring, bought another $200 sim through a deal similar to this. Spoke to the boost support web chat and they transferred my new current number to the new sim.

I just told the support that I "accidentally" bought a new sim instead of recharging.

      • +3

I have been doing this for the past 4 years :)

    • +2

      Per https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/13560006/redir
I go through this process yearly for 2 of my services. Customer service have no issues with doing so.

      • Same. Support chat , tell em you want to transfer your number to new SIM card. Process takes maybe like 10-30mins. Do it for myself and mum

        • Sometimes when I sms ppl after the transfer, message receiver get the new number? Does that happened to you guys ?but not all the time.

        • can you transfer it to recharge if its a few weeks before the previous plan expired?

    • pricematch with officeworks and then chat with them… most are willing to transfer and activate

  • That's annoying, just bought it yesterday from lucky.

    • Lucky is still cheaper than this right?

  • +2

Felix is a good free provider to port to (Vodafone). Last time I ported my number to an Esim via the app and then back to a physical Boost SIM within 15 Mins.

  • Is 150mbps -5g ?

    • +1

Limit will be on both 4G and 5G.

    • it's a speed limit, applies to both 4g and 5g

  • I'm always a new customer

  • what is the data allowance for subsequent recharges after the first?

  • Is the general consensus that OW are no longer price beating Lucky Mobile's price?

My yearly plan is due in about 3 weeks so will need a new plan by then.

    • Does anyone know if you can recharge with the cheaper plan and roll over existing data? I.e. Signed up in the $300 plan and have 50 Gb left, can I recharge on the $200(discounted) plan and get 140+40Gb data?

My Dad also has a plan expiring soon.

      • +1

No. Each recharge is a new period Boost doesn't do data rollover.

        • Thanks for the info!

    • +1

I just popped in to Officeworks today and got the $300 Sim price beat. Might be a good idea to call your local beforehand.

  • +3

Cheaper to price beat lucky mobile $169.95 at Officeworks

    • +1

my local OW stopped allowing pricematch with luckymobile and others. So I just buy directly from them, sim still works.

      • what's their explanation for not accepting that?

  • +1

My plan is due to expire 30/03. Based on advice here on ozb, went on chat 2 days ago to ask if they can do anything. Got told if I recharge it, and quote the quote number (provided) after it's been recharged they will reimburse me the $30. I'll be contacting them some time tomorrow after I recharge my plan. :)

    • I did this as well but only got 20 discount. Oh well better than nothing

  • -1

can i use this to recharge my boost sim in a months time? or is it new customer only

    • the answer is literally in the title?

      • new customers only! you must identify as more than one customer

    • +1

It's in the title mate… but also check out what some of the others recommend, either port out then back or go on chat and ask nicely to transfer your number to the new sim.

  • Is Boost or Telstra better? Since Boost also uses Telstra.

    • Boost is Telstra, they are owned by Telstra :) … they are the same in coverage 0 difference only thing they do is cap your 5g to 150mb

      • +1

Telstra also caps at 150mbps (4G and 5G) on most prepaid plans, effective 4 April. Boost = Telstra for coverage, see below for the only difference. Boost isn't owned by Telstra though - it's a separate company.

    • +1

      No esim

  • Wanting to get on this but not for a couple more months. Buy now or wait?

    • Have a look through last posts, won't give you an exact indication of when the next deal will come up but maybe this will help you work out if you can wait or not
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/brand/boost-mobile

      • Thanks, no issues with activation if I sit on it for a while?

  • Woolies uses Telstra network as well and provides eSIM capability, Boost or Woolies better?
I am using Woolies eSIM just to test it out and it's been good so far. I have Telstra SIm too and can't see any difference between the two

    • All Telstra Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) run on the Telstra wholesale network with the exception of Boost Mobile. While Telstra’s full network reaches 99.5% of the population the wholesale version covers 98.8%. It might not seem like a huge difference, but it means that Telstra MVNOs may not be an option for customers in rural areas.

Copied from another forum so can't confirm if its accurate about woolies, but I've used Boost and you get all features mentioned below in addition to international minutes or unlimited calls/txt to certain destinations.

      Boost =
      Full Telstra retail 3G/4G/5G coverage
      VoLTE / VoWifi

      Woolworths =
Telstra Wholesale network (which is slightly less footprint than retail, mainly in regional areas)
      No VoLTE / VoWIFI

      • No VoLTE / VoWIFI
Copied from another forum so can't confirm if its accurate about woolies

I switched to Woolworths Mobile last week. Both VoLTE and VoWiFi are working on my device.

        https://mobile.woolworths.com.au/volte-wifi-calling

        • Thanks for confirming

      • Good to know, thanks mate.

    • I was Boost's loyal customer for 3 years until my year plan expired last year. There was no Boost's deal at that time so I changed to Woolowrths. While Woolworths has VoLTE and VoWIFI as well, its signal isn't as strong as Boost in my local area, and the speed is significant lower as well. Where I usually have full signal and quite fast internet, now there's a bar of signal only, and internet is sometimes too low to download a page. It may be a minor problem, but sometimes it's so annoying when I'm inside the shop, can't find the product I need, but can't open the website to show the staff what I am looking for.

      • No 5g with woolies mobile too I think on long expiry plans?

  • Will Boost have coverage when we are overseas? Do they have option to buy roaming data?

  • Hey TA how about $30 cash back from Cash Rewards?

  • Thanks OP, got from Boost + Cashrewards

  • I just signed up with mates mobile with this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/757162 which uses the boost/telstra network so after the 3 months am I considered a new customer for Boost?

  • For those comparing telstra vs boost.

Boost is literally telstra, when i ported from boost to telstra i went to telstra store at Highpoint and they changed it to my old number.

Boost to vodafone or any other telco is 30 mins.

Boost to Telstra is 24-48 hours port. First
Activate telstra prepaid sim new number and after 24 hrs walk in to telstra store to change your old boost number to telstra activated sim.

Didnt know and its their process, internal one.

    Chao ! Thank me later.

  • I have been doing this thing my mates call as stingy 😅

I usually would buy those $30 prepaid SIM card that is half price at coles or woolies. They usually goes 1/2 quite often, bought few of them and every month I would port to different provider.

    • You've just discovered sim slutting. I did it monthly, then quarterly for 7 years until the era of 12-mth expiry prepaid SIM.

      • Maybe I shall stop and go to 12-mth prepaid card.
Don’t you save more with sim slitting?

        • Yes in the era of $5/monthly Sim, or $15/quarterly. Those deals are far and few in between, so I go for $100/yr ish annual Sim deals. Also less effort. After a while I get blocked to activate my Sim online and have to call them, really annoying.

  • Hey guys, does anyone know if I'm able to port to boost directly from Telstra?

I'm on the Telstra 12 month prepaid plan at the mo which is due to expire in a couple of weeks.

    • Yes you can. They are different companies, just the same physical network infrastructure.

  • My Boost plan expired by 28 June. Is it ok to buy this pack? Or it will get expired before that?

  • Literally paid 200 yesterday!

  • Officeworks did the price beat and I paid $161 yesterday.

    • How did you get it for $161?

  • +1

i think the Lebara deal is better. $150 for 180GB

    https://www.lebara.com.au/mobile-plan/small-360-day-sim/

    • +2

      vodafail network

  • Can someone help me please? Boost or Belong 100GB $45 Per month? btw I live in Brisbane so coverage should be alright yea?

    • This is $15/month, data is 140gb for the year (not per month).
Different offerings and depends on your data usage.

  • Drove to Hornsby Officeworks and asked for price match, they refused and said they can't verify if I'm a new customer to Boost Mobile…how ridiculous…

  • Last year paid $150 for this plan… Inflation

  • Officeworks Bourke St just fed me the line about being for new customers only. Anyone in Melbourne metro had better luck?

    • just lie to them

      • I told them I was a new customer. They said they didn't care.

        • i just bought a sim, they didnt ask me anything at all …. try another store. or maybe call the phone number for price match and do it that way.

          • @Drpepper666: No time unfortunately, my existing Vodafone 12 month prepaid SIM expires tomorrow. I'll just go for the Woollies Amaysim deal instead.

    • +1

Just price matched on the Bourke St store! The cashier was using the "New Customer" excuse but the manager allowed it as buying starter packs (not buying recharge) = new customers

  • i am on mate 1$ plan for 3 months. when can this be activated like within a month or year etc..

  • price match @ officeworks $171 ez thanks OP

    • Bourke St store or somewhere else? (Just realised you're the same guy I just responded to above haha)

      • i live in a different state.. good luck

        • Yes I see, your previous comment suggested you got through at the same store. Obviously different store, different rules. Maybe I'll drive around to one or two Officeworks tomorrow and have another go before giving up and committing to a year of Optus

  • If I'm reading this correctly, my BOOST 12 month pack expires next week. But can I assume you buy the pack now (not wait until your current plan expires)?

I take it I would receive a SIM in the post (with a different number), then online chat with BOOST to ask them to transfer my old number to the NEW SIM?

All this can be done before the old data pack/plan expires?

    • +1

Correct. You'll loose whatever data you still have and they'll port your existing service onto the new SIM.

  • Cheers for that.

  • How do you perform a pricebeat at Officeworks?

Do you call them? Website email or just turn up to a store and show them Boost website price?

  • +2

Price match at OW with this instead, it's been going for a while: https://luckymobile.com.au/mobile-plus/product/boost-200-sim…

  • Can anyone confirm if Boost VoLTE / VoWifi will work overseas - eg. purchasing a data-only eSIM service in Singapore and making / receiving calls to / from Australia on the Boost service?

I believe we will receive SMS while being overseas without purchasing an International Pack but was wondering if having data via eSIM will also permit functionality of VoLTE / VoWiFi?

  • Is Boost issue tax invoice receipt? Bought a few Boost 30 days SIM deals with Cashback but never get any receipt from Boost. I wanted to get a 12 months SIM for work related so need a tax invoice.
