Would’ve been keen on the GSTS300G-1B, DJ’s cancelled a clearance order of one a few weeks back, some decent prices here nonetheless

  • Are we ever going to see another Casio Royale deal ?😔

    • +2

Or a Skmei deal, I miss those. This is about as cheap as it gets now -

Skmei 1628 Dual Time US$8.79 + GST (~AU$14.60) Delivered @ Skmei Official Store

      • How good are those?

I've bought a couple of generic Chinese 'Casio inspired' watches as disposable kid's watches and they've turned out to be noticeably crap- nastier plastic for the band, short battery life.

        • +4

Awesome, very good build quality for the price. I haven't bought this particular model but I've got the older Skmei 1134 which is still running on the same battery after 5 years. This is just an upgraded version with dual time & a bit smaller.

          • +1

@WatchNerd: Thanks. They've got some watches with great colours for kids.

            Also, username checks out.

          • +1

@WatchNerd: I also have this same watch, it just wouldn’t die 😆

        • +2

In my experience they've been great, had a SKMEI 1025 for 5-6 years, the only reason I got rid of it is the strap eventually broke and it was cheaper to buy a new watch than to replace the strap.

My current one (same model) must be about that old now, wearing daily no matter the weather, and it gets wet when washing hands. Only issue is the face is plastic and does scratch rather easily when doing manual work.

      • +1

i bought this same watch for about $6AUD last week - it was on sale as part of a Aliexpress anniversary new customer promo.

had a sanda but water got in after 4 years of regularly wearing it swimming/snorkeling… great beater watches

any one have experience with this Casio Royale knock off?

  • Holding out for a deal on the GW-M5610U.

I know the atomic time feature is useless in Australia, but I love its visual similarities to the original 5000

We love these cheap watch deals. For some reason I have a liking to naviforce

    • +1

The Naviforce 9044 use to get posted a lot back in the day. I've still got mine but the battery died.

I wouldn't pay more than $10ish for one though, they are pretty flimsy & ticking is loud.

      • +1

As crazy as it sounds, the 9044 is my fav basic, yes it dose tick loudly. I have abused mine and still going strong.

        • +1

Maybe step it up & get the Addiesdive. It's says it's expired but you still get US$8 off in coupons so the price should come to US$37.24 del (~A$56.00)

      • Mine broke too. I think one of the hands fell off. It's in a watch parts box somewhere now..

    • +1

it's got a great dial but so lacking in lume. i was going to make it a project to add more lume to the dial but then i bought more watches with better lume lol

  • Tbh the only one of those discounted enough to warrant buying is the 9052. The other prices, meh.

    • +4

I've got one, looks heaps better on the wrist than the stock pics.

      • +5

(he posted that Dwayne Johnson pic again, didn't he?)

    • Agreed. G-shock squares should to be under $100 when on sale IMO.
Also some of the unpopular GA100's are higher in price than I saw they them before.

But to be fair WatchNerd didn't link to them.

      • Sorry meant to type "didn't link to them specifically".

Also last year before I got my GBD200 I was waiting forever for the GD350-1B to drop down to $90 Shipped again. Like it has been twice in the past https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/casio-gd350-1b

$124 for GD350-1B is about equal to Grey import with code which is always available. Pretty sure I saw it recently for around that price (price drop to $130 to $140 ish - $10 discount code) from Watchdepot AU with $10 off first purchase code as well.

  • +2

    Great price on the GG1000.

  • Also I'd avoid the GA-100, especially one with a negative display. I had one for a while and found it very hard to read even in daylight. Had to give it a good stare to see what the time was as it's a very "busy" watchface and the digital elements are near useless. Positive disiplay versions are not that much better. Ended up selling mine to Cash Converters.

  • 【pre-programmed until the year 2039】

    why is not 2099?

    • Sorry, fixed now.

  • This particular watch gives me PE teacher in the mid-2000s vibes

  • Perfect watch to bring with you on holidays

  • +3

i don't know how i ended up with two of these since i prefer analogues or ana-digi. all i know is it's WatchNerd's fault.

  • Hey @WatchNerd, did you know if the G-SHOCK GA2100-7A can be modded?

Currently part of this deal even though listed as expired.. maybe it was even cheaper earlier?

    • +1

Yes it can. There was a deal on the transparent one which I snapped up. Band was yellow tinged right out of the box, so i'll probably mod it soon.

      • @WatchNerd, nice one! How much did you grab it for?

I decided to put down OzB for a week while I recoup expenses.. 😅 I hope this is the only watch deal I missed..

Gross about the tinging! That $30 White Casio deal from a few weeks ago has been really nice as a daily beater. However, the white band has stained black a little all along the edges. Haven't tried to clean it with anything other than Coles wipes. I'm keen as to upgrade to this white one though. Then hopefully mod it if/when this one also gets a little tricky to keep clean..

Unfortunately the tinging occurs sooner or later. I knew that but the price was good, still looks great on the wrist. Will buy a stainless steel mod kit off Aliexpress for it soon.

          • @nubzy: Damnnn, the dial looks soo clean. Love the hourly markers compared to the blacked out one with the white band I just ordered..

Yeah, I don't like transparent nothing because of this.. 😅 Realised this after my first iPhone 3G case.. 🤣

Interesting to see what mods are available on Ali. I've seen a few going around on eBay for around $100..

        • +1

That $30 White Casio deal from a few weeks ago has been really nice as a daily beater.

You bought one?! lol didn't expect you were one of the clicks.
But then again you do like your other G-shock the one you post where you are looking very handsome. 😂

Anyhow I have posted a deal on that Casio beater at $30 twice now, so as you said lately seems to be pretty normal Amazon price. Will hold off posting it next time until it drops below $30. $29 will do it though 😂.

          • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: Aww, I didn't realise you posted before.. 😅 Caught out for not reading the OzB descriptions! And I've just never paid attention to watch deals until my recent "aDdIcTiOn" it seems.

But yeah, can't really beat a $30 watch with the Casio name, especially with the contrast and like you mentioned how easy to read it is. I barely glance at this and can tell the time immediately. And I don't have to worry about it being damaged as such with the price-tag. Athough, I'm wondering if I can change out the band or something on this one because I do like the dial on this as a daily..

My AliExpress cart is full of watch tools so I can atleast maintain my own watches when they need it, while continuing to learn more about this stuff. Plus I'm guessing I'll need a few of these bits when I try that CasiOak mod down the line. Boy do some of them look real pretty..

            • +1

They have original Casio spares at Shriro AU (Casio's official AU service centre and spare parts distributor).
              https://casioservice.shriro.com.au/search?q=mrw200h

Black colour only though, which might clash with the white resin case (only the bezel is black on the MRW200H I posted). https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/761066

Other than that there are plenty of cheaper strap options on Aliexpress/eBay, including Nylon straps and all kinds of colours. I would expect lower quality resin etc compared to the Casio original, but at the same time some are so cheap you could just order a few and switch them out.
For example (not recommending this one just an example). https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/394437066394

In my experience the cheap silicone straps are softer so they don't hold up well. From sweat/oil and sun they will start breaking down quicker than a resin or nylon strap.

My AliExpress cart is full of watch tools so I can atleast maintain my own watches when they need it,

Maybe keep them in your cart lol because you often get the tools you need included with straps and other parts (the strap I linked above comes with spring bar tool, I also ordered some G-shock 16mm to 22mm strap adapters from eBay and they came with a springbar tool as well). e.g. a Casioak metal mod kit should come with everything you need to actually do the mod. Although quality might be less than you expect, they should be fine if you are careful. Honestly it's a bit of a gamble anyway you might buy a watch tool kit on Aliexpress which includes the very same tools.

              • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: Good point about the tools, I have a Steeldive on the way which will hopefully get me started with the basics. And like you said, the CasiOak kits will probably come with the necessary bits for that job.

I'll have to look at a breakdown of the watch to see what I can put on it. Will definitely be researching CasiOak mods when I can. I LOVE the band on the "Black Hole" GA-2100 I got from last weeks deal, more comfy out the box, the ribs are a godsend to make sure the retainer band thingo doesn't slide up and down like on the MRW200H you posted. Thinking if I could put this band on the MRW200H when I go to mod the 2100.

To tell you the truth though, I love the idea of modding a 2100 soo much, I'm thinking to get a second one, but with more bells and whistles (to mod) though admittedly don't know much of the extra features or how it works.. I was having a quick look last night, but realised there were soo many damn models I should probably go ahead and ask yourself or Watchnerd if this is even worthwile. I figured it's probably just the colorways and stuff once you go up the range into the solar+BT?
But yeah, I told myself if I'm going to put effort into completing the mod, I might aswell get something nicer as the base.

Thanks for the links though, worst case if I just mod the "black hole" I just got, and the white band doesn't fit the MRW200H, I'll grab a black one to replace the glossy one. Also admittedly, I like the Nylon strap you recommended.. 🤣

                  @WasBargain:

To tell you the truth though, I love the idea of modding a 2100 soo much,

Yeah I had the same idea a while back last year. The idea of doing the modding process really appealed to me, but I am not that into analog watches so I would have to plan to sell it after modding it. But yeah I think I realized the total cost was too high for me just to "do the mod". So I scrapped the idea. Especially with covid and G-shock prices not coming down at the time.

I was having a quick look last night, but realised there were soo many damn models I should probably go ahead and ask yourself or Watchnerd if this is even worthwile.

Yeah as I said I haven't done the mod myself. So no real advice I can give other than don't strip the resin screw holes when screwing the metal case on. The method is pretty simple, put the screw in then gently turn it counter clockwise with the screwdriver until you feel a gentle "shift". It's very gentle so the smaller the screw the harder it is to feel. But yeah that shift means the screw has found the thread, then you can go ahead and gently tighten by screwing clockwise.

If sorting through models, I recommend viewing them on G-shock global. Just search "G-shock casio global" in google, then click "collection" then "line up".
                  It takes you here https://www.casio.com/intl/watches/gshock/
Then you can add filters to see the different watches. For example leave sorting by newest, select "Digital and analog" and you should see mostly Casioak's. You can then select "Solar charger" or "Bluetooth" to filter just those models etc.

Also admittedly, I like the Nylon strap you recommended.. 🤣

You can probably find it for much cheaper if you search eBay and Aliexpress. I just linked that to show the image and the fact 3rd party straps are available for MRW200H.

      • apparently dw-5600 straps will fit but not as perfectly as the oem strap
