If I was buying I'd check benchmarks and reviews, but I'd definitely be going for local stock on what I think is a better drive:

For me I'd pay $5 for local stock, and local not-abused workers. I feel less dirty not buying from Amazon =P
What's with the seemingly increased number of NVMe posts lately?
is there a spontaneous need for storage / performance upgrades?
storage and ram prices are dropping across the globe.
im not complaining
Nice price but I wouldn't wait 1-2 weeks for a dollar or two

980 Pro OEM = DRAM, local stock, $10 more.
the DRAM on pro is a sweetener to pay the extra ….
Make sure you update the firmware on your 980 Pro.
//Puget Systems says that the issue has happened specifically with the 2TB version of the drive, but does say that Samsung "recommends users update the firmware on all 980 Pro drives to the latest version (5B2QGXA7) to prevent the issue from occurring."//

Yeah apparently they been failing due to old firmware, it's kind of put me Samsung nvme's.
does OEM drives work for PS5? or need to update fw and reset before sticking into ps5?
There's another thread saying the PM9A1 (OEM version of the 980 Pro) isn't supported by the Samsung SSD software - so you can't update the firmware. If this model is impacted by the firmware bug that is impacting the 980 Pro… then you might not be able to update the firmware of this one :(
ohhh sounds ominous then. proceed at your own risk
I haven't made the jump to Gen4 myself yet, still running my trusty 980 (non pro) and A2000. don't have PS5 have Xbox
i don't own a ps5 yet but will at some point - what's the most popular capacity people upgrade to? 1TB?
Probably, but just whatever you want and willing to spend?
Also this one isn’t compatible with ps5
pricing are falling, dont waste money buying now.
Tom's Hardware says that if its surprisingly cheap for a Samsung 980 Pro, make sure its genuine. There's reports of hard to pick fake ones.
https://www.tomshardware.com/news/fake-samsung-980-pro
The capacity is right, but the fake ones don't perform as well as the genuine ones because they have a slower controller with no DRAM in them. That's the only way to pick them. The labels look right. The firmware is pirated Samsung firmware, so it fools even Samsung's own Magician software.
1TB: $99.25
