No pain, no gain. People will be thankful once the level crossing is gone.

      • Why we never put the rails under or over the roads in the first place like every other state I don't know.

I just never got why it makes sense to have 2 separate modes of transport effectively not separated because one has to stop for the other? Incredibly dumb decision making imo

Because Melbourne is very flat and when the rail lines were built they were mostly just passing through orchards and bush.

          • @tp0: Surely that would have been the case for every other state as well re population density? I get it… but just seems pretty short term thinking for mine. Would've been much cheaper to do back then as well.

        • It's also much more expensive. We would not get bang for buck when it was first built.

      • Yeah but this one has been a very long time coming…

Govt sign saying it's dangerous and they are removing it has been there since 20 effing 16.

They have the nerve to say it's ahead of schedule… Yep "fast tracked and ahead of schedule" just 5 years late….

    • Correct. None of the cafes in GH use that design cup.

And I thought the same thing.

Hasn't it just been added to the bill for the project?
    Not really free then…

"Here is the coffee to compromise your bad sleep"
I live very close to the level crossing and they do works throughout the night during some weeks 🤯

    • No pain, no gain. People will be thankful once the level crossing is gone.

      • I lived on Murrumbeena road near kangaroo road when they done the caulfield to oakleigh skyrail. When they demolished hughesdale station i cohld hear it easily. I could understand that being closer can be more of a issue. If i remember correctly. If your close to the station and they are making extreme night noise. They can put you up in a hotel on those nights. I was a bit too far for anything. But now that the crossings are gone its been great not being stuck forever waitinv to cross, even as a pedestrian. I can't wait for neerim road one to be gone. As its annoying being stuck at those crossings when on a bus. If i was driving. Id use grange road

        • Yes, I live on Neerim road and it's so painful every day just to get out of the garage. And also bad news - Grange road is closed now for a whole week.

Yeah I understand - for those who travel across the level crossings every day.
But anyone would be thankful to those who can't sleep at night during the 'Big Builds', will you?

  • What is the timescale of the works this year? Is the new station built this year or next? Live close by so I’m interested to know how this project is progressing but can’t see much online
