Was told the store over ordered hence the discount.
Not the freshest grass with a bit of yellowing starting to occur in certain areas but nothing a bit of love and care cannot cure.

I'm all for planting native species, but those looking for decent grass (as the site walter here) are less likely to be interested in relatively tall species or requiring more regular maintenance as a lawn substitute as the ones you've suggested.
So, no Dice then

What type of buffalo is it?
Edit, links to Sir Walter.
Hmmm. My local Bunnings take delivery of their turf supplies every Friday morning. Ideally turf should be laid within 24 hours of cutting. With current Sydney temps and 72+ hours since harvesting, this one may be a false economy.
My local Bunnings in Melton East, VIC also over ordered and is down to $4 per 0.5m2 slab. But also starting to yellow and wasn’t looking great. Definitely worthwhile for someone who was ready to plant today and give it some love.
Ive found my local one typically marks down to $4-5 as the top layers yellow/die. If you can spend some time digging down around 4-5 layers you will get some that are typically in good condition, but only if the weather hasn't been too hot. Definitely do not pick any of the top layers by the time they mark it down, they will not survive. Digging down layers by yourself sort of sucks too since they are palleted in a hatch pattern.
Usually the colouring is what they call pallet burn and the centre slabs will become the worst. Usually smells also
Plant native grass - weeping grass, kidney grass are excellent lawn substitutes.
Could also plant kangaroo grass, wallaby grass, etc but its clumpy
