Waiting for iPhone 15 which only half a year to wait. Promising Type-C which I am willing to pay RRP for.

        I'm sure there wasn't a law 10 years before.

Most likely Apple will try go with complete wireless charging one day which makes the 1 or 2 only generation(s) of Type-C iPhone precious.

        • Will be a while before that happens only because of carplay. A lot of cars don't have wireless AA or Carplay yet.

Them again it will give them an excuse to sell another dongle, we know Apple loves those dongles lol

I've never heard Apple promise anything, let alone USB-C for the iPhone, which they have spoken against. As Rueyip said, they are now bound by a law, different situation.

        • Isn't it European law only? Personally I give it a 50% chance of being global USB-C for the 15. China has dual sim iPhones so individual market requirements do exist.

          • @Elyxar: I'd say implementing dual physical sim vs one esim + physical sim and USB-C are on a different level. I highly doubt Apple will release a USB-C iPhone just for Europe, not to mention other places like India are in stages of imposing similar rules. It wouldn't make any sense to fragment the connector. Besides, they already have USB-C iPads, it's not an alien connector for iOS/iPad OS.

Apple has literally never promised USB-C on the iPhone.

    • +1

Yes, we are mid cycle. Makes this a no deal

It’s the only reason I will be upgrading to iPhone 15 even I am happy with MagSafe.

If apples implementation of bluetooth is anything to go by. They would gimp it in some way to make lightning cables look better.

    • -4

Unless you need Type-C for something, Lightning is far more robust and ubiquitous

      • +1

But it doesn't mean that one doesn't want to unify the charging cables for entire house.

There are just too much gadgets with type-c charging port.

      • Literally EVERYTHING else in my house is USB-C apart from my iPhone (including all of my Apple devices) so I have to carry a stupid set of cables around with me, stored in my car, in the wall at home, etc.

        I freaking hate it.

        • Before USB-C, Apple competitors tried to get everyone to use Micro-USB for years which had huge failure rates and a crappy usage technique.

USB-C Is more robust but a pretty recent standard

With wireless charging available I think your complaints are a little overblown. Lightning is pretty ubiquitous and extremely durable.

All new iPhones will be USB-C soon enough.

$1 more at Harvey Norman, but if you have the Amex ‘spend $300 at HN get a $50 statement credit’ offer, can get it for $1,248

  • Does apple store price match?

  • +1

Yes, called apple today and they matched it pretty close at 1301, you can pay by discounted apple gift card making it more cheaper.
