I was going to buy the Ozito one because of the reviews but this is brushless and Bosch professional so I didn’t mind paying extra.

  • how's this compared to the three?

Excellent in terms of dust collection and vibration, not the best in material removal rate https://youtu.be/uCVXFhSvyeA

      • Thanks for posting that video. Love this guys testing methodology. Gonna check out some more of his content

        • It's very thorough, and there's always a summary graph at the end of a section, plus an overall summary at the end

This is the normal price it has been for around 4 months now. Leftover stock from before Black Friday

  • Is anyone able to comment on whether it’s worth spending the extra on this?
The ozito is like $65, $99 for THREE 4.0ah batteries, $40 for a fast charger

More batteries, good warranty, and still $65 cheaper…
Hard to compare brushless vs brushed tools, I know

Although I haven't used the bosch, I was sure impressed with the ozito. I couldn't really bog down the ozito and just kept going. Was very happy with it, but got rid of it as no longer required

      • I’ve only heard good things about the ozito sander and I was really impressed with the 36v brushless jet blower.
The LED worklights and torches are so much cheaper than Bosch too but there’s a guy in Melbourne I think who makes LED floodlights for Bosch, makita, Milwaukee 18v etc if I end up down that path.
        Cheers

      It depends a bit.

Bosch Blue is generally great gear - I cannot kill my drill, and impact driver.

I have a hammer/combo drill that at one point was literally smoking because I was really pushing it. Left it for a bit, and then used it for another job and it went just as well as before, as if I’d never pushed it to the absolute limit. It’s been dropped, wet, splattered with paint, driven super hard till the casing burnt my hands etc.

My impact driver similarly has been driven very hard and just keeps ticking.

That being said, it’s not cheap. I’ve used mine a lot, not in a trade role but it’s done everything I’ve asked of it - but I paid for the privilege.

Going back in time, had I had the time again I’d go with Ryobi because half the battle is the bloody batteries, and Bosch don’t make heaps of cordless tools that the big 4 do. I think Ryobi similarly would have done the job, and they have a lot of tools I wanted but I’d already bought into the Bosch eco-system.

If I was using the sander really exclusively as my key tool in a range of tools, and the Bosch was the absolute best then yeah it makes sense to get the Bosch instead of something cheaper, but if it’s sporadic usage, for a hit and quit it job I’d go with the Ozito just because it’s cheaper.

That’s my thoughts. I hope that helps. Apologies for the diatribe.

        Hey thanks for the insight,
I’ve gotten on a few everyday deals like the Mini Blower + 2x 5.0ah batteries + charger ( https://sydneytools.com.au/product/bosch-0615990m9x-18v-50ah… ) because of the battery value

And have a bit of a surplus in batteries and slow chargers, only one fast charger so I was pretty happy with this deal to expand the Bosch range

        Again, cheers

That was the answer I'm looking for :)

FYI never buy a belt sander with battery. The battery will always overheat and thermal cut out kicks in

    • This is nit a belt sander.

      • These are all good, just don’t add the belt sander to your skins

This is great value - i got the sander along for $230 last year from amazon and bosch has 6 years warranty on both battery and tool.

The low profile is just the best feature - i can easily get into the drawer and sand the top.

I bought the sander skin by itself last year. In my hand, it feels nice, better than the Ozito but I think performance is only a little better. If you are only considering cordless, I would probably bit this one or the Milwaukee. If you're after better performance, an air powered or corded one is still the one to go to.

Having said that, I would probably buy this kit for this price if I didn't have a skin already, with the above understanding.

Hopefully, this is stock that is clearing in preparation of a newer better model.
