On sale is this Mini PC featuring the new 12th Gen Intel N100 CPU offering good performance with low power consumption (14W with CPU/iGPU maxed out). Thanks to the Intel UHD graphics it's good for media streaming and decoding. As you can see in ETA Prime's review it performs well for game emulation and less graphic intensive games. Unfortunately there's only one slot for RAM so it's unable to run dual channel.

Featuring the Intel N100 CPU with 4 cores, 4 threads and 3.4GHz max turbo frequency, 2x HDMI 2.0 w/ 4K@60Hz support, single SODIMM DDR4 RAM slot, M.2 2280 NVMe SSD slot, M.2 2242 SATA SSD slot, Intel AX201 WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, 2.5G Ethernet, 4x USB 3.1 Gen1 ports, 3.5mm audio jack, copper heatsink with fan and VESA mounting.

Since this is barebones you need to supply your own OS, Storage and RAM. The seller has bundles, however I'd recommend supplying your own.

    More smart, more safe, morphine

    • It's morphin' time !

PS: Dual-channel provides the much needed (albeit still lacking) memory bandwidth for integrated graphics that utilize system memory as its graphics memory.

Single channel memory is a limitation of the N100, not this particular mini PC. $260 seems a bit steep considering the performance is around the same as a 6500T, albeit this has newer graphics, better features and uses less power. You can get an 8500T based system with some memory and storage for around this price, which would be a better choice I reckon.

    • Smaller form factors tend to cost more and the iGPU in this is far better at decoding than the 6500T and 8500T. That is if you were wanting to use it for Jellyfin or similar.

  • Are these good together with like an external hard drive enclosure for a Plex server?
