Katana Drill & Impact Driver Kit 18V - no delivery, so there might b 1 out there for pick up keeping this deal alive?
SCA Taylors Beach has stock (Port stephens, NSW)
Moree NSW as well.
I paid $60 for that kit in the last sale! It's still sealed in the box (that's how much I need it 😅); I'd return repo it if it were in stock anywhere near me. I wonder if I can repo my exact one 😃
Got 3 of these shelves for the same price six weeks ago from deal posted here. Very happy for the price.
Is that you Bianca8126? (From the reviews on the sca website)
How is it compare to the montgomery bunnings ?
That's what I'm thinking. Unless I'm missing something, you'd be better off getting two of these
37.5kg per shelf SCA $27 V 150kg per shelf Bunnings $54
I'd still be buying the latter.
It suits those looking for a budget upgrade & weight capacity isn't a factor for them. Definitely good value for cost
The popular Bunnings one has shelves that are 540mm deep, these are 400mm.
For my use I usually find 400mm too narrow.
https://www.bunnings.com.au/handy-storage-137-x-71-x-30-5cm-…
This is what I got recently - similar specs.
If you haven't opened the packages yet, it is better to get refund and buy this.
Those galv ones you got have to be screwed together, can't change the shelf height easily, and have next to no load bearing lateral strength - once there's some weight they twist and bend. As jim said, take them back and buy https://www.bunnings.com.au/montgomery-1830-x-910-x-410mm-5-… or the ones in this deal.
I have 5 of these at home. They're fine — I've had them for over 2 years — especially at the $14 ea I paid for them (50% inflation??); one just has to screw at least 2 together for them to be more stable. In terms of weight bearing, we have actual lifting weights on one of them (bottom shelf, of course).
This is not even remotely in the same ballpark as the powder coated varieties.
What's better about them? More stable?
I have two galvanised ones and they're fine for the price, but they've been relegated to just holding pot plants. As bUrd says above, they are flimsy as hell and easily twist and distort. You could lift these with your pinky.
@Hinee: Yeah, I have 5 of them.
I don't really have a problem with them (other than that they do rust); especially at the $14 price I paid (at the current $21… yeah, dunno).
@Hinee: Yes i agree with Galvanised ones i got one of them took ages to out it together all screws .. flimsy as
Those galv ones also don’t hold even close to the same volume.
Agree refund them. I'm replacing 2 of my foil shelves for OP's link.
For you, the upgrade = $7ea. Definitely worth the cost for value / kg capacity / sturdiness etc.
I'd just get 3 of the small for $82 for greater flexibility. A bit more work to build but meh.
How are these powder coated doing at outdoor? Thinking to use them for succulents.
The MDF won't survive long in a damp environment. You could replace it though with something more durable.
Back to the Bunnings galvanised steel cheapos XD
If you're bothered - I suggest laying so sort of tarp over each self & tying the corners off with rope, to the beams.
Bonus pts if you want to spray rust prevention paint on the metal before assembling.
Can someone tell me why 1 more shelf adds another $60? Not hating, just curious. I'm looking to grab some shelves like this but I'd really like a taller shelf but not at the cost of an extra $60
1500x800x300 37.5kg/shelf vs 1830x1220x400 70kg/shelf
Thanks, I just had a look around and saw that the taller shelves are cheaper elsewhere.
Where is it cheaper? Would be interested to know.
@jimojr: mmm, not a like for like item, as it is a fair bit smaller in width, but given that you get x2 of them….not bad
Please do tell. i just placed an order for these 5 shelve units…want to see if i should quickly cancel my order
@whitepuma: Sorry, I shouldn't post this 5 shelve units. See my comment above.
@jimojr: Just cancelled my order, now going down the route of catch….Less to do with the size and more to do with the price & weight capacity.
Thankyou, you are doing an excellent job!
@whitepuma: You're welcome.
Just brainstorming, would it be possible to wall mount one of these 4 shelf units? Maybe even cut one in half and make 2 wall shelf units?
TLDR; I wouldn’t.
The shelves slot into the uprights. The basic principle is that they’re held together by gravity on all four corners and the floor is what keeps the entire assembly square.
If you wall mounted it the force on the shelves would be twisting the upright vs pulling directly down if it sat on the floor as designed. Sooner or later the shelves would fall off or they’d snap the upright.
In addition the front two legs would be floating in space, held together entirely by friction. You’d have to screw them in so they didn’t drop off and cause a complete failure of all the shelves.
Try Ikea wall mounted garage shelves instead 👍
Are these sturdy or prone to twisting / warping?
not really
ive had these same ones for a few years in a garage, and they hold up great. easy to adjust shelf height. they only take a few minutes to assemble. ive also got the smaller one outside and its been fine (under cover)
Can that drill be used for hard wall? (By hard wall I mean 'normal' wall that's not dry-wall, sorry I don't know what they are made of).
I have an Ikea drill and it doesn't work at all, I just need to hang wall clocks.
You needn’t have deleted the 5 shelf version from your original post. The Giantz units you later linked to from Catch are flimsy junk compared to the SCA unit you deleted. The extra cost of your original 5 shelter is more than justified and it was a good deal at 50% off.
The catch shelves are 100mm wider and deeper with additional lateral supports under the mdf shelf inserts, which prevents the mdf from sagging and increases the load capacity. Not sure about the SCA shelves as there are no images, but given the low shelf load capacity I’d say not.
These shelves are 25 bucks each. The catch ones are 41 bucks each. 16 bucks more for 10cm and a bar?
Not really a comparison when they are nearly twice the price.
These shelves won't sag. If they do, you've put too much stuff on then
Is the impact drill any good? I've been in the market for one.
All the links 404 for me?
