  • This a good deal?

  • This or the xiaomi one for about double the price (when on sale)

    • Buy now think later lol!

    • My Xiomi doesnt work with my ultrawide sadly

    • +2

The xiaomi one has a remote, pretty sure this one has controls on the lightbar. When I had a Baseus one, I would end up moving the lightbar each time I wanted to turn it on/off.

Keep that in mind. Otherwise functionally pretty similar (unless you choose the xiaomi with the wall light/RGB too)

    It looks like a handgun

looks like a starwars pistol blaster lol

  • Thanks OP - bought 2

  • ok deal .. bought it before with bundle 3-in-1 charging cable that i need for $39. baseus official ebay is $35.68 with ebay plus. There is another other promo code SMAR17
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/363072912758

    • Is it the same thing?

      • +1

looks the same .. baseus didn't provide the model number. i chucked the box already

  • thanks, bought one.

  • i think i saw on youtube someone comparing this and the xiaomi, xiaomi is better thats why i bought the xiaomi years ago at aud55ish ?
but at this price i would buy this if i dont have one already

  • Cheers just picked one up!

  • How do these do on very large monitors? I have a 43 inch monitor in a dark corner of the house so looking to get one asap

    • +3

      buy 2

      • +1

Buy a smaller monitor for this.

    • the monitor size should not matter as long as the thickness of the bezel supports the light.

the intent of the light is to light up the desk space/work area, without throwing light on the monitor screen.

I used it with my 34" ultrawide

      • Is your 34" UW curved? I'm worried about the light hitting the curved surface of my monitor.

        • it is , although it is not a very pronounced curve
          https://www.lg.com/au/it-monitors/lg-34UC87M

besides the light can be tilted adjusted.
otherwise you may consider a curved version of a screen bar

At this price point though, this is a good deal. i got mine 2 years ago at JB Hifi for 25… worth it

  • +5

Had mine for over a yr, it's rlly good, use it daily and for $30 its a no brainer. The only issue is that the holding mechanism (i.e. the clip) causes distortion to my monitor near where it is hooked onto. It's only really noticeable if you're on a dark screen, you can clearly see the distortion.

TLDR get the Xiaomi if you don't want long-term damage.

  • How does this compare to the BenQ monitor light?

  • +2

Word of warning with these lights in general (I have a Xiaomi): Because the light is very close to the surface of the monitor and just shines down, you get light reflecting off every speck of dust on the monitor surface and you get the monitor washed out. Not a huge problem, more of a regular annoyance to brush down the monitor.

A far better design would have the LEDs on an arm further out. These exist but I don't have one.

    • Ha! this is so true, I proudly show the ligh bar to a friend, and the first comment he made, I need to clean up my screen more often. D'oh!

  • Bought the xiaomi one recently for $70. I like the wireless remote for it.

  • I don't understand how these don't either shine in your eyes, or create glare/reflections on your screen?

    • the light is angled in a way that when set up perfectly, the light does not create glare and not shine in your eyes, it's hard to explain but works pretty well

    • They create another problem (see my comment just above). No glare though.

  • I thought about getting this but settled on the BlitzWolf BW-CML2 pro from Banggood instead.

It looks like the Baseus model has more of a clamp which could cause some slight distortion on the screen, but the BW looks like it just rests on top of the screen without squeezing it.
Also the BW comes with a remote, more touch buttons and RGB ambient lighting.

  • I imagine this wouldnt work if I have a webcam mounted on top of the monitor….can the height of the light be adjusted?

    • Depending on the webcam, light on monitor and then the webcam on top of the lightbar mount. The Logitech ones I've had rest on my Xiaomi lightbar mount (although that is slightly modified with no back weight).

  • What about the BenQ screenbar monitor light for about $170~$230??

Is the baseus/Xiaomi/blitzwolf version worth the asking price of $30~ $50 ?

Is the BenQ one 5 to 6 times better in performance and quality?

  • am a noob on this. Havent used nor seen anyone used this before so not sure how this is useful / helpful for me? Could someone ELI5?

    TIA

    • If you are working at a desk at night, and need a downlight for stuff like a pen and notebook.

It's also a little easier on the eyes to have a bit more light around, rather than light blasting out of a monitor screen surrounded by darkness.

It's a minor QoL improvement if you don't have a desk lamp at night, it's not a big thing. In fact, a directional desk lamp is probably better than this.
