Hi Mods: It's been over a month now since I posted the last deal and the price has dropped further to $105 so hopefully a new post isn't an issue. I have expired the previous deal prior to posting this new one.

(One "Used - Like New" Amazon warehouse stock for $99.75 Shipped)

Cheapest I have ever seen it and the historical low according to 3x camels.
Saw it hovering around $158 for awhile which shows on 3x camels.
Ignore the crossed out $249 RRP, it's currently $199 retail at Sony AU.

TLDR:
+ Good sound but a little boomy with bass, good battery life.
- Not much L/R separation, volume doesn't get extremely loud and compression at high volume.

This is the local Australian model and Amazon AU stock.
Released in July 2022 last year so quite a new model.
Might look big in the pictures but it's about as big as your typical cylindrical shape Bluetooth speaker, 24cm tall and 12x12cm in thickness.

It is a front firing speaker design, like Anker/JBL models. Not 360 degree speaker design like UE Boom models.

Scathing review complains of "muffled sound" but YMMV. Not sure if it's a case of user error (Ambient sound sensing mode on?) or Sony over did the waterproofing/dustproofing but it pretty much maxes out on the IP scale which might be the cause of muffled sound. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0201/8228/files/IP_rating_…

As a comparison a bluetooth speaker of similar dimensions that I have is IP55. And while it's not "super clear" in sound (pretty normal for bluetooth TBH) I definitely wouldn't call it sounding muffled.

Specs:

16 hour battery life (With in App Battery care mode, which reduces battery life slightly but increases the number of charge cycles for the battery's lifetime by only charging to 90%)
Bluetooth 5.2 (Supported codecs: SBC, AAC, LDAC)
Weight: 800g
Speakers : Two Full Range 42mm x 51mm, Dual passive radiators
USB-C charging port (quick charge function allows 70 minutes Play from 10 minutes Charge)
Sony Music Centre App (control EQ, STAMINA mode, Battery saver mode etc)
Microphone w/ echo cancelling technology
Party Connect (you can combine up to 100 compatible wireless speakers with BLUETOOTH technology)
Line shaped diffuser distributes music evenly (Inspired by the audio systems used at professional concert, *in vertical position distributes the sound energy evenly, across a wide sound front, to better fill your space with audio.)

*Sony recommends you only charge it with a 5V/1.5A output or higher USB charger. Using a slower charger may lead to overheating and damaging the speaker (also happened to one of my bluetooth speakers when I accidentally charged it for 10 mins with a slow charger the speaker got hot to touch).

  • Looks good for asking price

    • Yeah I just added via edit. One available in Amazon Warehouse stock for $99.

  • Hi Mods: It's been over a month now since I posted the last deal and the price has dropped further to $105 so hopefully a new post isn't an issue.

I don't think you need to wait a month to post this new deal. It wouldn't have been a duplicate due to the old deal price expiring.

    • I think it applies to Amazon deals only. But yeah I think if it's less than a month old they prefer if you just edit the previous deal.

  • My sony speaker decreasing the volume automatically after a while unless its stay on charge, a bit annoying i dont know about this model

    • same things happens to mine (different model) , the max volume will be maybe 60-70%? but it only really happens when the battery is low.

      • +1

It's probably lowering the amplifier's power draw as the battery voltage drops under a certain amount.
IMO if it happens much sooner than the battery level suggests, it points to a degraded battery.

Things that degrade a battery quickly: run it until the battery charge is close to 0% over and over, and leaving it on the charger overnight (not pulling it off the charger soon after it's fully charged).

  • It shows as $158 now for Black colour. Guess $105 price is gone?

    • Yes the deal link should take you straight to the correct version. It is now $158 I will mark it as expired.

But this also happened with the last deal (price went up to $158), so if you wait 1 or 2 weeks it should drop down to $105 again.
If you desperately need it now there is still the $99 Amazon warehouse stock available if you find the price below on the right hand side of the page.
