There are tonnes of decent quality alternatives on Amazon that are the same price all year around. Not much of a deal, unless you can show why the RRP is not completely ridiculous?

Have you got a link to one of these said alternatives?

There's quite a few hiking chairs on Amazon in the $40-$60 range.

I've got these Trekology ones on Amazon which are currently $53 which have been pretty great. They've got side pockets, can handle an extra 20kgs weight

I guess my main point is that the $120 RRP on these is pretty ridiculous. I wouldn't be rushing to buy these thinking you're getting a bargain, when there's alternatives in this price range permanently…

I got these for $29.99 in Jan 23 from anaconda
RRP is a joke. These are not worth more than $25, I have few other chairs which I got from BCF for $30:much sturdier and well made.
Sorry for the downvote, not for OP but for the store.

  • yeah pretty unstable chairs tbh, not comfy.

i got three of the hiking chairs from Coles after discount $20 each(RRP $50) they are survival after we have a four nights hiking with three PS kids from Wilsons Prom south overnight hiking trek.

    They are pretty good.

The low price due to using relatively low grade aluminum alloy comparing with decent one(Helinox) and low plastic joint connector, low grade fabric. Thicker aluminum rods , connectors and fabric to compensate relative low strength material. As result, they are heavy.

They are relative heavier than Helinox, approximate 900 to 1100 g vs 500+ g(Helinox), but the load capacity not much impact for hiking using. Not matter capacity is 100kg or 180kg etc. you could make a fact check from the websites.

other factors you have to consider is durability and relaibility, Helinox definitely won the crown, not these cheap one.

If you are not a hardcore hiking/outdoorer/camper, the cheap one is more reasonabl, I reckon.

    • Helinox is about 900g i thought, generally only 100-200g lighter than the cheaper equivalents.

      • The chair zero is just over 500g, the chair one that they got popular with is around a kilo similar to the other ones like these and the aldi units.

u r rgiht, the Helinox Zero is lightest one from this brand as I known so far, please correct me if I am wrong.

The decent brand advantage is QC, durability and reliability.

No hardcore hiker would likesuffer a collapsed chair after a long day bushwalking.

  • they are pretty stable while I fully strench my back sitting one it, I am 179cm and 70+kg
