Really tempted to grab this but have been thinking about an 85 inch tv for my theatre room in the new house. Too many decisions haha!

    • Go a projector in a theatre room (100" plus for 1/4 the price), and uses 1/3rd the energy.

      • Yea was thinking that but also didnt want the hassle of stuffing around with extra points in the roof, buying a screen etc. Which projector would you recommend? Mostly movies but some light gaming.

        • I ended up getting the Samsung LSP7 to save having a roof mounted projector. Then bought a 120inch screen off Facebook marketplace for about $150. Looks pretty incredible. I paid $4k for the projector but it also came with a $1500 voucher which we bought the Samsung Q950A soundbar with. So it ended up being a pretty good deal. I'd definitely recommend the 85inch if you go the tv option. Both have perks, what ever you go with will look great in a dedicated room :)

    Wow.. unreal price!

This TV is better than my Sony 75inch x90J.

Such a good price. I'm planning on buy this tcl C835 in a couple of months for house I'm moving into. It does 4k at 144hz Chroma 4.4.4.

    • +1

i have the 55" as a bedroom tv and its great, especially at this price. I do really like my Sony X94d though even if it is 6-7 years old now and has no dolby vision.

samsung-australia is out of the office until 03/25/2023 and may not be able to respond to your message.

        Message from samsung-australia:
We want to express our sincere gratitude for the tremendous support we received during the soft launch of our box-damaged products. Due to this overwhelming response, the Samsung Australia Outlet eBay Store is temporarily on hold.

        • Samsung au reply

Hi, Bob. Good morning! Thank you for your interest. However, I regret to inform you that we don’t have any information in our retailers, and we only base our information here on our Online store. I suggest you contact them regarding with your concern. I hope you'll understand.

  • well ill be cancelling my q80b today ffs

    • Hopefully they will accept cancellation

      • Will be messaging eBay when they open I’ll say I thought it would be dispatched much quicker and I need it for a big confrence this weekend

        • Yer

        • I messaged Samsung on eBay 3 Times. No response. Alerted eBay to ensure they knew as well.

          • @boxall: Yeah fk you’ve been trying to cancel for days. Are you going to wait till it’s confirmed cancelled or are you pretty sure your going to get a refund?
I’m thinking about picking the c835 up from the way back from brissy today

            • @bob98: Ebay opened a case and will get refund on 9th march.

            • @bob98: I will be chasing eBay again to ensure it is definitely cancelled. They asked me to send one more message.

I have a feeling all will be cancelled looking at that thread.

              • @boxall: I just got refund. Now to pickup this tcl. Hopefully i made the right decision to grab tcl over q80b

                • @Jklaro: did you manage to get it for the $1500?

                  • @bob98: Im going to pick it up tomorrow.

                • @Jklaro: How. Seller isn’t responding.

                  • @boxall: I already got refund for q80b on ebay. Im getting the tcl c835 now.

                    • @Jklaro: How on eBay when seller is away?

                      From eBay:

However, please do not worry your transaction is fully covered under eBay Money Back Guarantee which covers our valued buyers up to 30 days form the estimated delivery date.

So I have to wait for them to respond. This is appalling.

                      • @boxall: No i contacted ebay and they created a case on my behalf. Also because tracking number doesn't work is why they done it.

                        • @Jklaro: Roger. Mine is just at paid stage .

                          • @boxall: Did you buy the tcl?

                            • @Jklaro: Nope. Only looking for a 65 inch but need a new cabinet first.

This will ease the pain of those rate rises

    • Phil approves of your purchase

Just a note to Apple TV users… the Apple TV won’t turn this damn thing on.
Turns off fine, just not on. So you need to keep both remotes with you.

    • Turns mine on fine?

      • You must be lucky, myself and multiple people on Reddit are having the issue.

Everyone is pointing to AppleTV firmware, perhaps you are not on the latest?

        • I’ll check it out at work tomorrow (it’s for displaying info at work). It may not be on the latest

    • Yeh I had this issue when I added my TV to my home via homekit. Now I just turn on my Tv via my phone, can also change the channel at the same time.

  • +3

I got the 55 version of this. 4k 120hz on pc can be a pain sometimes, reverts back to 4k 60 with every restart. Taking out hdmi and plugging it back in seems to fix it back to.4k 120hz, but its a pita. The hdmi port labeled 4k 144hz was even worse, flickers black once very ten seconds. Same result with two different hdmi 2.1 cable

  • Good guys also have 20% off TVs now. The Sony XR75X90K is now sub 2k. Sony build quality or TCL? I know it's full array vs mini led but still contemplating the bigger name brand..

    • +1

Recommend looking at the difference in person

      • Yeah will definitely try. Saw the power consumption on the Sony is better and we have it on a lot too for general tv/movies, only minor gaming in a brightly lit room.

        • +1

IMO the tcl looks far better image wise though, so guess depends how much you care about the power consumption vs image quality vs pricing difference

  • How does this go for the ps5? I have a 75inch Sony X9000H which i got when the ps5 first came out. Technology has moved on so im wondering if this would be a better upgrade since i also watch tv/movies?

  • +1

Looks good besides power consumption quite high

    • +1

I'd describe that 2 star 1130 KWh p/a energy specs as horrendous. That's about 3 times the consumption of my TCL 75" P735.

      • +2

        Thats 310 watts.

Not 3 times a 75, but around double. For reference, my 10yr old 47" pana uses 45 watts. So she chews juice.

But I guess its multiple LEDs.

The Great Thundberg S.D.E. rating has this at "micro penis" .

        • I'd also assume it's going to vary based on your backlight brightness level settings (and being LED array the content you are watching)

          • @bamzero: Indeed.

I take a power monitor with me when looking at TVs (JB carry on like im hacking the store…young kids cant fathom what im doing).

Anyway, the sticker ratings on the front arent worth wiping your ass on. Adjust them the same and then you get a real reading. The stickers are based on default settings. TCLs defaults has the backilight less than most… So it gets a lower rated sticker.

BUT.. A JVC TV was terrible, and adjusted lower..still terrible (which I recon means the backlight dimming didnt actually work).

For max efficiency, turn your brightness up and your backlight down as low as you can until you start losing contrast. One TV went from 185 watts to 53 watts…and looked a lot better (blacks were now black).

    • +2

I have been looking at the power consumption with a hs110 for last few months, it's in the higher side especially when watching Netflix and YouTube.
Strange but the consumption drops to 1/3 if I am using Amazon prime or other apps.
Was watching UHD content on all apps.

  • Is the glare and viewing angles on this really bad? I'm thinking about finally ditching my 16 year old 60" Pioneer Kuro Plasma for this, but I know it would drive me nuts if they are much worse in comparison.

    • We had to close blinds for our plasma. The brightness of this means that even with reflections we can have the blinds open.

    • Has intelligent light settings which adjust according to surround lightings.

    • Viewing angle is not bad compared to some other VA panels. Glare is definitely there (compared to say Samsung QN90B which has really good anti-glare coating) but this TV is quite bright, so won't be a problem.

    • From our experience, a huge step up in quality. No problems with viewing a preseason AFL game in full daylight. No issues with either reflections or viewing angles.

The TV has an adaptive brightness setting which is on by default - haven't done any tweaking on this yet, but if anything, it seems to run too bright.

  • Woohooo…ordered! Been waiting for this for more than a month now, thanks OP for sharing this. Have got to be patient in life sometimes!!!!

  • +8

Just reverted back to $2495. Must have been an error. Good luck to those who made it through checkout.

    • Ordered last night, delivery confirmation for Sunday.

  • +1

Damn. I was contemplating should I or not, then its back on its original price. Oh well, just wasn't meant to be I suppose.

  • +2

    Wow full price now

  • Wtf was that? I hope they fulfill the orders placed?

  • +1

Y did I decide to sleep on it ahhh

  • Is mini led much better than qled?

    • +1

much smaller i think therefore mini

    • +1

Totally different things. One is a film that goes over the LCD to enhance contrast while the other is backlight technology. So you could have a qled mini led.

  • +1

wow lucky I pulled the trigger and didn't waste time to buy gift card online.

  • I thought it was this price on the last day of click frenzy at TGGs? The 65 was this price all week and then on the last day they dropped it again for all sizes. Plus I got TCL cashback and good guys store credit. The 75 just wouldn't physically fit haha

  • Hopefully all that ordered get honoured

    • +3

      Delivery scheduled for tomorrow

      • Try and make sure you are there when it arrives - local delivery in Hobart of the 55 was best described as thrown in the back of a courier van and thrown around in transit. I was less than effing impressed with JB!

  • Damn, you snooze you lose. That's a great TV at that price!

  • Midnight promo?

  • Bargain.

  • +2

Amazing deal to all they got one.
I’ve recently bought the 65 and it’s great.

    • Is $1500 about the best price on the 65? Hope to get one in the next month.

      • That’s what I paid, and I still think it’s great value compared to the other 65’s. I would’ve liked the Sony x95k, but it was twice the price.

I reckon you might get another $100 off it Bing Lee bring it back to their EBay store.

  • reminder to always use price protection for buying a TV..

    • You actually think this tv will go much lower then this?

      • It doesn't have to, they may be referring to people that bought it at a higher price

  • +4

I gave a call to my local jb shop that has stock, they told me it was a pricing error, don't know if they'll fulfil the orders

    • If not, they might still get some voucher. Didn't get one as not needed.

  • Anyone can share a screenshot for this TV at the price of $1495 so I could have a chat with jbhifi.I literally purchased it one day ago at original price.
