And that locks you in to a hideously expensive lens range too. $1800 for something as pedestrian as a 24-105 f4, and you can’t use the excellent third-party alternatives that are cheaper and better.
A constant 2.8 zoom starts at $4k!!!!!
The canon RF lenses are great. I found a few eBay coupons for my 24-70 2.8 and combined with TRS to get it under 3k which I thought was great!
They’re absolutely great, no question. L lenses have been for years - I used to own a lot of them myself. But they’re very, very expensive - you paid roughly twice what I did for my EF24-70 II. Plus, they’re the only option unless you want some pretty average kit lenses.
they’re the only option unless you want some pretty average kit lenses…
Nope. Canon's own EF-RF adapter is often under $150 if you buy smartly. It works quite well with full functions for either EF Sigma, Canon, even Carl Zeiss lenses. I also used a Voigtlander fast prime lens with Leica M to RF adapter just for kick.
I paid under $3k for the F2.8 24-70mm (no TRS), you just need patience for the right deal to come along. No one should pay full price for camera gear, there's always some promotion during the year, aside the ebay/Digidirect/DCXpert discount codes.
Imagine thinking MP is the only defining quality of a camera.
Paid $4699 for SONY A7RV and got $512 cashback + $100 AMEX two weeks ago.
shame you ended up with a Sony :P
How did you do that?
I have my eye on the A7RVPrice matched with last digidirect ebay 20% off sale.
purchased it a few months ago and I am very happy with it! made the right decision to choose this over the 5d mark 3
The autofocus alone is SO much better. Nice choice!
Only reason I want is to adapt my Ef lenses otherwise I would totally go different brand with these crazy RF prices
Good deal. After owning various systems, I’ve concluded that I’m better off staying away from this high maintenance hobby.
Thought long and hard about getting the r5 but settled on this instead - especially because of Amazon’s great return policy if I don’t like it or something goes wrong.
Has anyone here used cashrewards before? I bought it with cashrewards about 20 mins ago (just made an account so first time with this) and while it registered that i clicked on Amazon it hasn’t detected the purchase yet?
Imagine paying $3600 for a 24MP sensor…
