    PSA: Micro-USB charging

Yep, mentioned at the bottom of the description.

Disappointing considering the speaker was released at the end of last year.

    • So what? Makes no difference to the function of this excellent speaker

  • 92CROC9Y25D76S

    • looks like generic code, I got the same code 92CROC9Y25D76S

  • Confirmed that I've got the same code.

I’ve got the UE WB 2 and it’s surprisingly loud for its small size. I assume the 3 is as good if not better.

    • +2

I assume the 3 is as good if not better.

The WB3 is only slightly better than the WB2 with the main difference being longer battery life.

    Use me

  • Good speaker

  • Would’ve considered two if different colour not pink!

    • +2

Well at least you wouldn't lose one

      • +1

i used to buy all black devices, but now I buy different colours for this exact reason. They’re so much easier to find in bags, etc.

  • +2

got one for my kids, it's good overall for it's size.

    Pity about the pathetic Micro-USB

JB head office if you are reading this, can we get another $10 perks voucher instead of trying to shovel out the slow moving/aged stock, TIA.

    • +2

Get the free boost sim with cash rewards and register for a new account :)

      • while i can respect the dedication, its a lot of work for $10 haha.

        perks $20 voucher when

        • +1

You can also get free burrito and liven $10 :)
And free margarita (someone posted on ozbargain)

      • Does Boost provide eSIM?

        • My iphone supports two physical sim so I dont know the answer. You can check out the posts on ozbargain if anyone knows.

  • Pity about the micro USB…. Maybe stick a adaptor in there full time?

    • +5

Maybe stick a adaptor in there full time?

Then you won't be able to close the flap that makes it waterproof.

      • +1

True true. Hmm maybe one with mini lanyard and hoop it in if it has a hole for it. Idk just trying to McGiver it lol

    • +1

I use a cable with USB-C and Micro convertible.

Got the email while having lunch, so popped into JB to pick one up. Coupon wasn't scanning "not valid for this item" or something - the staff just ended up doing a manual override.

Couldn't care less about the colour - plus, it'll make it easy to find. Will hang it off the bright yellow CoolCabana and make it easier to spot all the other OzBargainers!

Sound is surprisingly good for such a small device.

Great price! awesome speaker, love mine. shame its micro usb :(

  • +3

Honestly not the most exhilarating speaker, but really handy for working on the car etc. It does a good job for it's price.

I used one as a speaker in my old Mazda for about 2 years, still going.

It's about time we get a UE BOOM 4 with USB C

  • I wouldn't rush out and buy this if you already have a functional Bluetooth speaker. This still sounds pretty average in my opinion, but stereo separation is admittedly better than some other speakers

  • Damn wonder if this or the anker on ozb recently was better

  • JBL deals please! These need upgraded bluetooth and usb C

  • Anyone know if you can connect a Wonderboom 2 to a Wonderboom 3?

Already own the 2 and I’m pretty happy with it, so might be worth getting this to pair up.

    • I don't believe you can.

  • Tried at the JB hi-fi Altona home and they said it was online only. I think the guy entered the wrong code. Oh well.

    • I walked into my local JB Hi-Fi and purchased fr phone via Click&Collect. Was ready within 5 minutes!

      • It was closing time so I didn't bother. I'll try my local jb tomorrow.

      • I got home and did click and collect and will pick it up tomorrow. I'll remember that for next time.

  • Rms watts?

Bought 1 of these a few months ago, well worth it. good sound for the price!

Why's everyone whinging about the micro USB? What's the issue?

    • It's a huge pain. It's a pain to get good cables. It's a pain to always find the cable when you need to charge it. I have a couple small battery packs that use micro and it's annoying. I'll only be using this speaker traveling so I'll have a dedicated cord for it for the car.

    • Most people only use USB C these days as micro USB are for phones/older devices from years back. I got a whole box of micro USB cables which hardly get used anymore as every device these days are USBC.

It's also probably going to be the iPhone charging standard going forward so people will stop carrying those old iPhone cables soon too..

    • +2

      Laziness.

    • +1

Whingers. There's nothing wrong with micro USB. I see lots of these whingers trying hard to find a good reason why it's bad, all failing miserably.

      • Very easy to just have a powerboard with USB charging slots, simply add a micro USB cable to one for your micro USB devives.

      • I wasn't whinging but this would be a good reason if one was to whinge… Micro USB only goes in one direction where as USBC goes in whichever direction you want it to 🤣

  • +1

    Thanks OP!

  • Claimed at local JB-Hi-Fi with the provided code. Good speaker with Loud Audio. Built Quality is better than my sony XB13 and way louder. The frequency separation is not as good though.

  • Damn, already have 2 of these. Would definitely have snapped up another if I was only with 1 though.

  • I think if this was a different colour I would have gotten one just to see how it stacks up. If I want to give 360 degree sound a try I might go for a Tribit Stormbox instead which gets discounted to around $75. Otherwise I'll play the waiting game for a sub-$80 Tribit Micro 2 to stereo pair with my $55 Micro 1.
