    Is there an absolute version?

    • Not via the eBay store by the looks of it. This is cheaper than the v15 Absolute via Dyson's official website.

    • What’s the difference between complete and absolute?

      • The complete has more attachments and comes with a HEPA filter. You can buy the HEPA filter separately if need be.

        • V10 and above all come with HEPA filters as standard.

          • @Jasonio: This isn’t correct.
Only V15, V12 or Gen 5 either come with or can have first party HEPA filters. They’re distinguished by colour, the HEPA filters are cyan vs the standard purple.
With the cyclones and mesh filters you’ll get HEPA level purification on everything with a pre and post filter but the filters themselves aren’t HEPA. Hope this clarifies

            • @Anthropomorphised: V12 HEPA filter has never been I stock tho been checking the Dyson store for months

              • @Omgallan: Same goes for Gen 5 parts. It’s possible that they’re only available through the service team as they’re only officially stocked as replacements for machines that already include. Just my speculation

  • What does this one do that a V7 can’t do?
Just curious if worth spending $700 more on this one compared to V7.

    • +6

This one sucks hard and have a light to reveal how dirty your floor is.

    • They both do the same thing - a cordless vacuum. V15 is more powerful and has longer runtime but cost benefit factor is subjective.

      • -3

        Aren't the suction on a V7 weaker?

        • +2

          Yes

        • +10

The answer is hidden in the comment you replied to. Let’s play a game and try to find it?

    • +10

The Dyson V15 is probably one of the best stick vacuums you can buy, outside of the Dyson Gen5detect, in terms of suction and collection of fine particles. However, it is really hard to justify for price.

If you just needed a simple stick vacuum there are a heap of better and cheaper alternatives out there, for instance the Viomi A9 which is about $200 and is comparable to the Dyson V7 in terms of performance. Other models tend to have a lot more useful options as well, for example the Viomi A9 has a removable battery which the V7 doesn't have.

However, if you have a little more to spend, a best case scenario would be get a decent robot vacuum and a decent stick vacuum and use them in conjunction. Don't bother with an auto-empty dock as they tend to be more hassle than helpful and you save several hundred dollars to empty the bin yourself which takes all of 5 seconds.

      • +2

Any robot vacuum you would recommend?

        • +3

Not in the mid-range options as I unfortunately bought a "high-end" model before I knew it was a waste of money. But here are some I have found that I think are good.

          1) Ecovacs DEEBOT Ozmo T8 - ~$499
          2) iRobot Roomba 670 - ~$399 (On sale at Big W atm)
          3) Roborock S5 - ~$500 (You used to be able to find this without the auto-empty dock but I can't see it anymore)
          4) eufy Boost IQ RoboVac 11S Slim - ~$399 ($238 on Amazon atm, not the strongest suction but that won't matter if you have tiles)
          5) Yeedi Vac2 Pro - ~$500 ($100 off coupn on Amazon atm, might end soon, I haven't looked into this brand much but the specs are comparable to my robot vacuum which I paid $1000+ for)

As an aside, a mop attachment is kind of unnecessary but can be a nice to have, I don't use mine all that often. The water tank on mine needs to be filled 2-3 times and the mop pad needs to be changed about 3-4 times per mop. A flat mop with a microfibre pad will get the job done faster, more efficiently and more thoroughly but that's assuming you have the time and energy to actually mop.

      • +3

Auto empty isn't that important but mop washing is a game changer. If you have one that mops well the mop is filthy in 10mins so the ability to wash it regularly throughout a clean is vital unless you mop one room at a time. I thought vacuums picked up most the dirt but even when the floor has been vacuumed and appears completely clean the mop picks up so much grime.

        • +2

          Any good mop vacuum option?

        • Totally agree with that statement which is why I got dreame w10.

      • Any other stick vacuums that area better than the Viomi A9 that are good value? Keen on maximum suck and maximal battery life don't care about other features

      • I just moved from a viomi a9 to a Dyson- The crap rubber wheels on the a9 fluffy motorhead wore down which makes it not smooth to push- and no replacements are available except for replacing the whole motorhead for half the cost of vaccuum.

This happened about 18 months into ownership purchased from an ozb deal

        Designed to fail imho.

        • That's unfortunate dude, had mine for about 2 years now not had any issues with it.

Never had to replace any components or anything.

    • Carpet.

If you don't have carpet, v8 is ok. V10 was the minimum I thought necessary for carpet on low-power when combined with the carpet head. That's on older (but not ancient) carpet that malts dust, newer carpet may be ok with less power.

No comment on v7. I have only owned v8 and v10.

    • +11

I upgraded from a V7 to the V15 (and still have the V7 in use for those times when I need to clean something gross/icky).

The V15 is seriously game changing in how I vacuumed and made me more aware of the limitations of the V7 which up until that point I hadn't really noticed and was used to. Battery longetivity is a huge one but partially due to the V7 being quite a few years old at this point, but the V15 just seems to go on for ages and it's powerful enought that you can use Med/auto rather than the high/boost mode even on carpet. I find that it's so sufficiently long lasting that I can use it as much as I need at any time in our double storey 3 bedroom apartment (pretty much all carpet except bathrooms/kitchen/laundry) without having to think about charging. The much larger bin means you can go far longer without emptying (I used to empty the V7 every few days since the suction power dropped dramatically, now I go about a fortnight). The cleaning tools feel sufficiently more advanced with the hair-free brush really useful (I can't believe I used to have to clean/remove them from my old brush head) and it really 'pulls' you along as you push (see caveat below). The green LED is sortof useful on tiled areas but honestly other than helping me distinguish between heads for carpet vs tiles, it just shines lights on dust which I can't seem to clean anyway without a mop. There's also a lot more tools (some may not be available with this particular set) but I find I end up just switching between the two big heads for tiled vs carpet. Note the extension stick is pretty cool where it has the soft brush built in (saving one tool/change I suppose). The bin being parallel with the stick (poor description) also results in an easier to hold/better balanced vacuum IMO, and it feels less finnicky than the V7 to empty.

Major downsides to me though were it's significantly heavier than the V7. Even with the motorised heads pulling you as you push, and the cool sound effects, there's no denying that it's much heavier to pick up off (or drop on) the stand. The other negative for me initially was that whilst the stand looks tidy and it 'drops on' rather than pushes up on the V7, the stand only has one accessory/tool holder reducing it's usefulness. All the other accessories I thought I'd use like mini head, corner/crevice tool/etc all sit in a drawer somewhere and most of them haven't ever been opened.

Anyway hope this helps give some idea. I bought it during a previous sale with upgrade offers from Dyson which is convenient because I was even contemplating buying a third party battery for the V7 at the time, but I'm glad I spent a bit more and invested in a V15.

      • I have the V7 and V15 too, V15 wins hands down. I fill the bin every second day with the amount of dirt/dust/hair the dog brings in.

Battery life, improved suction and that green laser head = game changing.

If you have a durable spring mattress, try the hair screw tool on the unit on boost mode and you’ll be disgusted how much dust and skin will come out. Also good for car floor mats

    Best vaccum i ever had

    • That’s disgusting! Don’t use a vacuum like that!

  • +5

    Best vaccum i never had

    • You’re not missing anything…

  • +4

At this price, I’d only buy it if it sucks while I am sitting down watching it do its thing with no effort.

    • +2

This thing is amazing. Just imagine if you could have a telescopic arm that sucked! Well, this is the next best thing

      • or a mouth

        • Just use a straw. Preferably a plastic one

  • Thank you OP. Been thinking of changing our 8+ year old V6. Pulled the trigger now :)

Waiting for a deal on the gen5. 🤞🏼

  • OOS anyway….

    In stock now

A thousand dollars for a few plastic mouldings. A PCB or two of 'tronics, a brushless motor and a modest lithium battery? Crivens, I wish I could market like Dyson!

    • And an ability to still manufacture a dozen different product lines between their lowest tier and top tier models, to create an element of choice. It's a vacuum. It needs to suck. Thats it.

    • +12

      When’s your kit coming out?

    • +1

I thought the same which is why I bought a Xiaomi after owning a very old Dyson DC35. It sucked better than the DC35 but thats about it. It would constantly get jammed at the bin inlet requiring cleaning after every vacuum and it would get clogged up with hair in the rollers and wheels constantly. I'd spend more time cleaning the vacuum than actually vacuuming. Also the roller would just push bigger debris around the floor.

Bought a V15 about 3-4 months ago. Cleaned the roller once but it didn't really need it. I find it's picking up way more than the Xiaomi ever did and consequently need to vacuum less because it seems to stay cleaner for longer. Don't get me wrong I do think Dyson is a bit of a rip off but you are paying for their R&D not their crappy plastic. This youtube video highlights the difference well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTkUNwBo9Ao

    • and the countless hours of engineering, type testing, manufacturing, logistics, marketing campaign and the thousands of people it employs and requires to bring something like this to market and warrant it. Think beyond the product, think about the people behind it.

They add more stock every so often so keep checking if you're interested. I kept checking and when they added more stock I bought one, I got it for $1028 with $120 off offer with Ebay plus account.

    • Me2, I got $120 off too

  • How does the V15 compare with V12?

    • Much larger, more powerful and overall better for a full house. V12 is mostly for older users, those with small apartments or who only want a small secondary unit and have cash to burn. It has equivalent power to V10
      V15
      230AW on boost
      770ml capacity
      3.1kg

      V12
      151AW on boost
      340ml capacity
      2.12kg

      • I went with the v12, due to the size and weight, its much lighter and hence more manoeuvrable, does the whole apartment in one go, didnt need the bigger v12, v11 or v10. I did do a size and movement comparison before deciding on the v12.

For a home of atleast 3-4 bedrooms v15 would be the go to.

        • Not to mention v12 has on/off power button rather than trigger, ideal for old people.

  • Back in stock

    • Still in stock at 10:47pm surprisingly. This is a genuinely good price for it!

  • +1

    Just bought it for $1028

    • how?

    • +1

Same. $120 voucher showed up on the listings page. Clicked that one , instead of the $100 one. Think it was specific to me as it’s a long voucher number? Not showing up now for me

      • winning! it's like the stars have aligned.

  • Sorry Dyson. I’m not playing this game.

  • V15 or wait for a deal on the gen5?
