        Oh I get it. It's like retro-cool

FYI HDD stores and archives much more reliably better than an SSD (> 1 year).

      • +1

That's only true for an SSD that's powered off.

If you're using the drive fairly regularly then the SSD is much much more reliable than any mechanical drive.

But yes, if you're going to write to the drive then put it in a cupboard, don't use an SSD.

      • Id argue that, it really depends on the use case for most people thease hdd are actully worse now, they have a intigrated micro b usb 3 port that snaps and the mechanical heads are so sensitive to slight bumps during use, ive seen too many die from this. Backpups every few months yes this is good, daily use hell nah unless you rip through TBs per 6 month

  • OzB standard first comment: Is it shuckable?

    • This one no unfotunetly

2tb for same price at MSY

  • +1

There are a few 2TB USB HDDs for about 65 on eBay if you have eBay Plus and have coupons available.

This has got 5 positives? Really?

People must think it's an SSD.

Cheaper options elsewhere, all the time.

  • +4

Isn't this the usual price of a 2TB now? It's nowhere near worth this. Sorry OP 😯

  • 2TB for $69. Also not shuckable unfortunately

You can get 5 TB from Officeworks for $160… (3.3x the capacity for 2x the price of this "deal")

    • Or 33% more storage for same price from Seagate at OW.

I got 2TB for $79 with my TGG storecash. No deal unfortunately

  • +1

These are the ones with the USB ports directly on the PCB too aren't they?

  • Not relay a deal. For $79 you can get a Seagate 2TB Expansion Portable HDD Drive @ Officeworks.
I remember purchasing a 1.5tb Seagate portable for $74.25 from this Officeworks deal back in March 2014.
