Stop making a jackery of this deal

Seems pricey, you can get a Bluetti EB70 for $899 at the moment and pair it with a 160W panel for about another $400 and you're still half this. Yeah Jackery have a great name but double the price aint gonna win me over anytime soon. Also 1000 charge cycles is a bit naff vs the Bluetti and Ecoflow at 3000 cycles.

I wonder if this is the one Ian Crossland has been talking about every day for the last week.. 🤣

    • +1

I don't know who that is… I googled Ian Crossland, and found his YouTube. Spent about 30 seconds there before slowly backing away.

"I was… I was… telling God last night that I will come back to help the humans."

If Ian's trolling and this is just a bit, then well played. Well played.

I think this deal was better (I bought it a couple of months ago)?

576Wh compared to EB70 718Wh. Poor design - can't place anything on top of it so forget about wireless charging and don't mention the crappy 500+ recharge cycles compared to the 2,500 of the EB70. Not a good deal. C'est la vie.

Can just buy a 100ah lithium battery, a $59 battery box to chuck it in, and a 200w folding solar panel off eBay. And then shop for an inverter if it's actually required. You will have so much more power on tap, and roughly an extra $1600 in your bank account.

Possibly rounding off the numbers a little and different people have different requirements but surely there are big savings to be made doing it this way. These power banks are just pretty little boxes with not alot under the hood, in my opinion!😅

    • Blah blah.. Prove it how you can save that much?

Silly comment. You're not factoring in the portability, convenience, port selection, charging capabilities, surge ability, and the (LiFePO4) battery longevity of an all in one unit like the EB70.

      • +3

Not silly comment, just a different way of doing it
300ah battery from 4wd super centre is $1249
        250 watt Solar panel $297
        3000watt inverter $299
        Battery box $59
        Total $2000 including acessories
yes it takes more room but it will suit people want boil the jug, use the microwave and run a fridge for a least a week.
        Prices from 4wd supercentre…

Cool story. Now build something better than the EB70 for $899.

          • @[Deactivated]: Apples to oranges, you're comparing a 3.8kwh system to something with 716wh, the EB70 will struggle to run a fridge/freezer overnight.
You also don't have to buy everything at once with the DIY setup and can build up to the larger components, eg buying a smaller battery and putting a 2nd one in parallel later.

There's no way to expand the EB70 once you have it, if you want to use an appliance that draws more than 1000 watts you'd have to buy a whole new unit.

It looks alright for someone that goes camping twice a year for a night or two without a fridge but it really isn't going to power you off-grid for long.

              @bargainboiz: Correct.
I put one together while back
First got a battery box from Aldi which much the same as all the other for reduced price of $24
Then got 100ah Lithium battery for it. $300
Then got Solar blanket with Solar controller and had Anderson plug which plugs in the box $150
Then small inverter with Anderson plug installed tha plugged if needed $120
Last of 240 volt charger with Anderson plug installed. $120
So total of $720ish little system for camping running a fridge.

              • @zombie hunter: Hi, what 240v charger did you get?

Do you have a list of exact parts & links?

            • -3

@bargainboiz: You're the one who has wandered off the reservation. No one cares what type of system you can build without constraints. This is about small portable solutions.

Given the variability on battery ratings vs actual capacity, advertising at 1002Wh vs just 1000 seems very odd.
