    Oops, didn't read start time.

    • :)

      • +13

        This is OzBargain
Click first, read details later :)

        • +1

The title is a tad misleading, makes it sound like they are available now, but given the restraints of the title I guess there's only so much they can put there.

Would be nice if something could be squeezed in making it clear it's not until a certain time or date so others don't make the same mistake.

        • +1

So true, Trojan. I missed so many freebies from the slow click.

While it's nice this one has a delayed start date, with just 50 I hope people don't get too disappointed if they miss out.

      On Friday at 1pm!

  • +3

    ONLY 50 IN STOCK

That should last about 4 seconds now it's been posted on here.

    • +4

No.. you have faith on their server.. It will last a lot longer but with only five ppl who can actually buy.

  • +4

lol, $70 for a double HDMI wall plate. I bought two HDMI wall plates from Bunnings for about $5bux each.

Just a reflection on how high the makeup on a simple product in OZ can be. My guess is that as no one would buy at $69.95, the shop might as well give it out for free as an advertising act. If OZ retailers cannot match the prices of international counterparts, they are going to fail big time in the era of price transparency.

  • 1 pm eastern time?

These guys are hosted with cloud-based eCommerce store with Akamai doing CDN — so hopefully they will keep up the flood of traffic on Friday. Finger crossed :)

    • +1

Clever way for them to build up a large email marketing database for very little cost!

At least they tell you how many are available upfront, unlike Mwave whom nearly everyone hates by now (not just me).

EDIT: Depends which plan they are on:
      http://www.volusion.com/ecommerce/web-hosting/

Not really a true cloud-based store. CDN means nothing if data transfer quota runs out.

  • Let's just see who is going to +ve this without waiting to see what really happens at 1pm on Friday?

  • +3

Why are these usually so expensive? Looks like a bit of plastic and a hdmi cable?

  • +2

how is this 70$ RRP to begin with :)

    • +4

Australia the land where retailers can come up with insane RRP

When they first came out, they were aimed at serious home theatre geeks, and really did sell for silly prices like that.

      • +1

        serious home theatre geeks…

Hang on, are you saying that there's also some lackadaisical ones out there too?

I say we hunt them down & garrotte them with Monster Cables! :)

        • Monster Cables have a lifetime warranty too, Stewballs. Lucky us!

  • +2

good item to match with the 99$ hdmi cable and 299$ power board from hardly normal! No wonder they can afford giving 50 for free

    • +7

Just keep pressing F5 bro! ;)

      • +1

First word came out of my mind was Dumb and Dumber, but I'm not going to say it… I know StewBalls was just joking.

•Coupon code "fbfandeal" is not valid.

    • +2

Pressing Alt+F4 keys will make the code work! ;)

  • it seems these guys want to test their server without paying to IT. good luck

  • Farcebook, I sold my fake identity and all I got was this dual HDMI faceplate, no regrets…

  • So on Friday at 1 your website will be offline? No worries. Oz bargain will help just that

  • -3

So, if we say, maybe, $5 worth of value (you can easily buy similar for that).

    That means $65 profit

    50 units = $3250

Not a bad little earner, particularly if you can manage to get more than 50 people to fall for it.

    • +2

Thought someone has told you not to smoke those things…

  • +3

    Ahhhh we have to wait?
    That's like a COTD special.

    • Have you come back to our time to save John Connor??? :p

    List Price: $249.00
    Our Price: $299.00

Must be a very popular cable.

    • About the same price as a Thunderbolt cable.

  • really cool wall plate!

  • Is this basically an extension cable for HDMI?

  • Jaycar have similar devices. See this one http://www1.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=PS0283&form=CAT… for $25 and if you really want right angle feeds then they have those too. Just make sure you get the bend in the right direction as they have both.

  • So, how easy is it to wire up the back of these things?

    • From all the pictures I've seen so far, they're just short extenders so you run cables through your walls etc and just plug them in like this one -

      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HDMI-1-4-Double-Wallplate-Flylead…

There may be some that require a krone tool like a network wall socket, wouldn't be much fun but not difficult either. This one says it has a 90 degree exit port so it's just a plug on the back, no flylead as such and no krone work required.

Here's a pic of the back of unit - http://a248.e.akamai.net/origin-cdn.volusion.com/jthq6.xmcv3…

Thinking about a stiff HDMI cable plugged into the port that's not 90 degrees, you're going to want some pretty thick walls to accommodate this or use it on a riser.

  • silly me

  • +1

I wonder how many of the extremely lucky ones who actually get this freebie will use it? Considering they will still have to buy a rather long (and potentially expensive) HDMI cable plus extra wallplate.

    • +1

      http://www.meritline.com/25-ft-hdmi-m-m-cable-v-1-4-3d-and-e…

      $11USD for a 25 foot cable isn't too bad :)

      • Ah, that's a good price. Now I know where to go. Thanks.

Now all I have to do is go climbing on all fours through my dusty spider-infested, shredded paper insulated roof cavity and try and feed the cable from one room to another and match up the cable with the wallplates.

        Sounds fun!

        • +3

Go to Bunnings & buy yourself a length of yellowtongue; it's green now I think, but the staff will know it by what the tradies call it. It's the stiff plastic strip they put between flooring sheets to keep them aligned with each other. It's rigid enough to poke through most cavities but flexible enough to bend around obstacles.

Poke that through & tape your cable to it, then pull it back…et voila, cabling made easy! ;)

        • Thanks for advice mate. Will come in handy in the future.

Although, most houses these days have vertical wooden studs placed about every 600mm in the wall cavity. No way past that.

        • The idea is to try and slip the yellowtongue/cable through existing conduits & services where possible; but I've even seen guys slip it down through gaps between gyprock or external veneer wall & studs at times.

Yeah, when they come out with something like an endoscope with a drill on the end for ploughing through noggins & studs we'll have some fun! :)

        • +1

Wow, some people do have patience; definitely not one of my virtues I'm afraid. Looks like I'll be getting dusty and dirty. ;)

          Appreciate your advice anyway, mate.

Come to think of it, the pros probably do use cameras for similar purposes.

  • Got it — thanks!

  • +1 got it as well :)

  • got 1

  • Got 1, Thanks !

Out of stock in less than 4 minutes

    • Just got one :D
Website was nearly stopped at 12:58

    • You should have expected that….This is OZBARGAIN !

  • Got 1 Thanks

  • Damm missed out :(

  • By the time I put in all my details and hit submit, it was gone. I didn't know my landline number because I only use it to pay bills and have internet, I don't give out the number hence the ringers are turned off

    • 2 mins prior to start I thought i should register an account to pre-fill those :) saved me

also i don't have a landline so i just put mobile in there and it had no problems

  • Yeah got one, realised with six to go it would speed up the checkout if you had an account so rushed it through and a winner

  • anyone got theirs already?

  • If the Rep was trying to curry favour with us, this may backfire….just checked my order status - says " Processing"…one week later !

    • What do you expect with a "freebie" deal posted on OzBargain?

In my experience about 50% of the time it ends up being not honoured, orders stuffed up or scam from supplier (Mwave anyone?).

  • Received mine today.
was sent in a 500g Express Post sachet.. must have cost them at least $8.60 just for delivery.

    Thanks digitalcinema.
