2520

Credit to flickr, this deal was previously marked as unobtainable but is now available (with 1 bonus extra listing included).

Terms and Conditions

When does the promotion run?

The promotion runs from 00:00 (AEDT) on 15 February 2023 and ends on 11:59pm (AEDT) 28 February 2023 (“Promotion Period”).

Who is eligible for this Promotion?

"Eligible Sellers” means sellers registered on eBay.com.au who:

  • have Australia or New Zealand as their registered address on eBay; and
  • have an active eBay Plus membership; and
  • Eligible Sellers must activate the promotion in order to receive the promotion.

To activate this promotion, Eligible Sellers must have received an invitation to participate in this promotion and accepted these Terms and Conditions by either clicking “Accept offer” on the Terms and Conditions page or clicking “Get offer” under the “promotional offers” section of your My eBay account; and received confirmation from eBay that “you’ve accepted the offer”.

Once you have accepted the offer, the promotion will be automatically assigned to your account and will be visible within My eBay.
The invitation to participate in this promotion is not transferable or exchangeable.

For the avoidance of doubt, you will not receive the discount if the promotion was not activated in accordance with these terms.

What is the Promotion?

The Promotion entitles Eligible Sellers, who have activated this promotion in accordance with these terms, to 0% variable fees (which is a component of Final Value Fees as defined on eBay.com.au) on 3 sales per Promotion Period on Eligible Listings.

“Eligible Listings” means item listings that are:

  • newly listed on eBay.com.au during the Promotion Period (i.e. they cannot be relisted items through ‘Good ‘til Cancelled (GTC) or auto-renewal);
  • in multi-quantity or single quantity fixed price or auction format only; and
  • not listed in one of the Excluded Categories (as defined below).

The variable fees will be discounted directly from the eBay seller fees applicable to the Eligible Listings when they are sold.

This promotion only applies to the variable fees on Eligible Listings that are sold during the Promotion Period.

eBay reserves the right to cancel or change the offer at any time.

Items listed in the following categories are excluded from the Promotion (“Excluded Categories”):

  • Websites & Businesses for Sale (11759), Aircraft (63676), Boats (26429), Caravans, Motorhomes (32633), Cars (29690), Motorcycles (32073), Trucks, Commercial Vehicles (6049), Real Estate (10542), Services (316), Flights (3253), Tickets (1305), Travel (3252), Gift Cards (172009). These Excluded Categories are in addition to any listings or categories restricted by eBay's prohibited and restricted items policies.

  • The Promotion only applies to variable fees (a component of your Final Value Fees). For the avoidance of doubt, the Promotion does not apply to the $0.30 (incl GST) fixed order fee for non-store subscribers (or otherwise have registered for a tax exempt status with eBay) or $0.33 fixed order fee (incl GST) for store subscribers, fees for optional features or services (including Feature Fees), international selling fees or any other fees set out at eBay.com.au, as varied from time to time. See our help pages on Selling fees without an eBay Store, eBay Stores selling fees, eBay Stores fees for registered businesses, as applicable, for more information.

Better than we expected. Thanks mate

  • Thanks, OP!

  • There it is. Woohoo! 👍

  • +3

    thank you!
less than 14 days but i guess it's better than nothing.
oh, and don't forget to screenshot.

    • +2

Yep. Good note for everyone: after you've accepted, take a screenshot of the offer in your Seller Hub Overview page in case the deal mysteriously disappears again.

  • Now everyone in that post can calm down.
eBay didn’t pull a fast one

  • Still thinking whether I should put my second hand 46" Samsung FHD TV, 34" FHD LG monitor to sell on eBay or just gumtree or ozbargain forum. I don't think I can get much back.

    • +7

Don't forget to update us with your final decision.

    • +3

Don’t forget FB market place too. Post in all of them.

      • +3

Whilst FB is ok, it's full of BS artists and time wasters/scammers.
Don't bother selling tech on FB (IMO). You'll get idiots offering you $200 for your iphone 13/14

        • Huh I haven’t had much experience with FB as a seller, last time was selling 2022’s AirPod that came with macmini, then some house plants and an office chair. Worst part was the misclicks asking if it’s still available, you don’t have to respond tho. Might also have something to do with your local demographic. I still wouldn’t rule it out completely because it’s free.

    • Is gumtree still a thing ?

  • Thanks OP. Perfect timing.

  • Here we go - thanks doweyy

  • +2

Anyone selling their iPhone 12 mini?

  • Awesome just sold 2 phones on the weekend

  • +1

    Sing hallelujah!

  • I don’t trust eBay plus so called free returns charged me a postage fee for the label Called them said they’ll “look into it”
    -.-

    • If the item is covered by the fee free return, then as the buyer you should wait for the seller to supply the return label through the return process.

  • So nice of them lol

  • +1

Last time with this same promotion ebay charged me full fees because i didnt recieve the email offer directly: "To activate this promotion, Eligible Sellers must have received an invitation to participate in this promotion"..
    Be careful.

Trying to negotiate with support is a nightmare.

    • Please make sure you have this promotion "activated" before putting anything to sell.
I had same situation and failed to negotiate with ebay customer support. I had to chat with buyer and we have agreed to cancel the order to make eBay to throw out the fee they have taken ($400). Buyer just paid the same amount via paypal directly ;) I was so lucky to have that buyer.

      • +2

That is lucky. If a seller asked me to pay them outside of eBay, I’d probably report them because that sounds a lot like a scam, lol

  • When I've made my listing, should I expect the 'Pay $0 Variable Fees on 3 new listings, thanks to eBay Plus' counter at Selling Promotions to go down to 2? Because uh, it hasn't.

    • +6

No, the "left" counter only reduces once you sell (rather than list).

  • Thanks OP.

  • Any tips on selling? I've only done once before.
I've been scammed both as seller & buyer and lost.
There's no way to prove what you got/sent is the item, even with the tracking etc it doesn't prove what is/isn't in the package.

    • +6

Some tips if you're selling higher value items:

      1. Record you placing the specific item into the box you're sending it in (for proof of the actual item). It's worth also having a piece of paper in the video with the date, time and your eBay account username.
      2. Block buyer addresses from any country outside of Australia. (you can do this in the "Excluded locations(optional)" option of the listing page within delivery options).
      3. Try and block any orders from Click and Collect addresses if possible (I don't think it's possible as a seller, but potentially request it in the description of the deal).
      4. Always use a delivery option with tracking, and pay for delivery insurance if the item is high in value.

Another tip, always put free shipping and bake the cost into your listing, it will generally show above listings that have a shipping cost as it should be "Fast and Free" if you have a fast processing time assigned.

Generally, eBay sides with sellers if there is proof of delivery. But as you've experienced, sometimes buyers can rort the system and win too. Best to follow the above to have better proof, and lower risk.

      • Eg if a buyer says DOA, or empty box, you can't really do much right?
I have a sealed box new mouse that I don't need, so that's why I thought ebay.
Anything used I'd do gumtree or sth.

        • +1

If it's identified as DOA by the buyer and they want to return it, then you kind of just need to deal with that. But if it's empty box, you can try and argue with eBay that it was sealed and provide them the footage and photos of it being sealed, you could always take a photo of it on a scale if you really wanted to have proof.

I personally have never had an issues with selling brand new items, it's quite rare in my experience to experience buyers who are trying to rort the system for a "freebie".

        • +1

Yea you're pretty much screwed as a seller with an empty box claim and it's why I've stopped selling myself people say you can go by the weight of the box on delivery but they literally will just place something weighted in it when they take the photo as proof. Even had someone replace an item with their broken version and return it to me and ebay/paypal do nothing about it even though I had photos that the serial number was different.

          • @Bread Pitt: I had something similar happen with a buyer return a faulty item purchased elsewhere. I had recorded the serial #, they also carelessly included folded up in the box the invoice from the other retailer The Good Guys. I presumed they wanted a refund from me because they paid more than the TGG purchase (according to the invoice). eBay seller protection provided me with a stat dec form. You complete it and have it witnessed and signed by a JP. eBay doesn't take sides, they absorb the loss - the buyer got away with it and kept their refund, but I also kept the sale proceeds and the returned product which I got replaced by the manufacturer warranty.

      • Good tips. On more expensive items I usually also have a photo of the item being handed to my local (and friendly) Australia Post crew.

  • The most important difference to previous promos is

This promotion only applies to the variable fees on Eligible Listings that are sold during the Promotion Period.

  • +3

My listing thats been on eBay for 2 weeks, with numerous low ball offers, finally sells hours before this went live at asking price.

    Thanks OP.

    • +1

Yep, that's the luck of the draw.

  • Does allowing offers on an item still count as fixed price? Or does it have to specifically be a one price "buy it now" only item.

    • +2

Allowing offers is fine. It's worked when I've accepted buyer-offers in previous months with this promo.

  • Any ebay gurus here? I just sold an item 2 days ago but item was damaged when going to post office so I cancelled it but they still want to charge me selling fees! Is that correct? It's impossible to contact ebay to enquire about this, they don't even have a chatbot. Here's a screenshot showing their rip off fee (13.4%) they want to deduct before a refund can be given. I don't want to pay this $7.77 fee. Is it possible to cancel a fee if the item was not sold and cancelled?
    https://i.imgur.com/P90fRc7.png

    • The fee appears to be credited?

    • It looks correct there. eBay paid you $50.23 net, which you need to pay back. eBay will refund the $7.77 fee together with your fund of $50.23, so buyer receives a full refund of $58.

      • ok thanks.. I just checked and the buyer has been refunded but they ended up charging me 30 cents for god knows what. Does anyone know what this 30 cent fee is about? It seems like you can't cancel without incurring fees even if it's for legitimate reasons like the item was damaged before it could be posted.

        • 30c is fixed sale fee (try to search on ebay) for whatever sold or cancelled transactions.

          • -3

@test8888: It's total BS they can charge a fixed fee and deduct it from your bank account. There's nothing to stop them raising the fee to $20 and you can't do anything about it. Total scammers at ebay, hope they all rot in hell

    • I thought so. You mark it as damaged or no longer available? It's been a while for me. You used to get all but the fixed component of the PayPal fee returned (30 cents or whatever)

  • -5

Limiting this to plus bites. Stingy bstrds.

    • +2

      Stingy?
But you're the one not willing to spend $5 to save the 13.4% that would normally be charged in fees?

      • -2

At 13.4% for most sales they can afford to not charge $5 per month for a few sales.

13.4% is frickin huge. And they keep upping it. And there's PayPal on top. BS.

        • You want FEE FREE sales AND not to have to pay $5?
          You just sound entitled.

If you're going to save more than $5, idk why tf you'd complain about it.
They could just NOT offer the promotion.

Also, if you're that desperate to not pay, make a new account and get the free ebay plus trial.

          • -1

@[Deactivated]: Don't blame me if you made up things i didn't say.

You've assumed i want free. Wrong. I said 13.4% is a joke and at that price they can afford to do some free for all.

            Which they can.

            In fact, they used to.

I'm not replying again to someone who can't read.

        • Why does it matter what the fees are ? You bake the fees into the price of your item - so the buyer is paying them, not you.

    • See post below - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/13385081/redir - if you're a regular eBayer then Plus more than pays for itself 🤷🏼‍♂️

  • It says "Visit your Seller Dashboard to confirm your account is still eligible for this offer before listing."

What should it have on the Seller Dashboard to confirm eligibility?

    • +2

      You should have 2 offers.

      1. 250,000 free listings every month

      2. This one

      • Unfortunately I didn't find this in my "Promotional Offers" section, just the standard 250,000 free listings.

I was able to accept the offer via the link and the offer shows up in the "Promotional Offers" section. However, I tried listing a few items, but they only show up in the 250,000 free listing offer.

Looks like it's targeted, title should be updated if others having the same problem. Or I may have missed something?

        • You're missing something, the 250k free listings will tick up every time you list an item, this promotion in this deal will only register when you actually sell the item (and are required to pay the fee, which is then credited back). These two promotions aren't mutually exclusive, you can get free listings and also no variable fees.

When you finally sell, you will only pay a $0.30 fee as long as you listed the item after you accepted this promotion and sold before 11:59pm on 28/2, make sure to do that and you'll be fine :)

          • @doweyy: Okay, I see. Thanks Doweyy.

I must be misremembering. I've used such offers before and I would have swore the Used/Left counter would increment for the "No fixed fee offer" or which ever better offer ebay had given when listing, but not sold yet. Whilst the standard 250,000 free listings Used/Left count would remain the same.

            • +1

@Cave7: You're correct, it definitely used to be that way! And sometimes the counter didn't even change when sold, which was great for the limited number ones as the system never knew what the counter should be lol.

But when they changed to Managed Payments, it all got sorted and now the counter only increases for FVF offers when the item is actually sold :)

  • Keep getting sucked in/re-signing up for eBay Plus to get take advantage of these promos but can't seem to get the necessary notification.

Anyone else a member and have this issue?

  • -2

Thanks OP & Also RIP EBAY sold lots of things… LOL

    https://prnt.sc/UikFeHut9rhk

  • Cheers OP..👍

Question: do I need to make new listings after accepting this offer? Or the old listings will be automatically qualified?

    • +1

Yes, they must be new listings made after accepting the offer. Existing listings won't have the promotion applied.

  • So variable fee is the same as the final value fee?

    • +1

Final Value Fee was split into Variable Fee + Fixed Fee last year I believe. The fixed component is $0.30 and is always charged, this promotion gives $0 variable fees.

      • Thanks

  • Thanks OP. I haven’t received an email and it’s not on my Dashboard, but I was still able to accept the offer.

  • +3

Already got my first sale and saved a whopping $110. Thanks OP.

  • +1

So it's actually worth subscribing ebay plus whne you know you will be selling something and will get sold within the month of a final value more than $100

    • +1

eBay Plus easily pays for itself anyway - they give you at least one $5 coupon every month, a $30 voucher when you threaten to leave, and an extra 2% on top of most eBay codes - if you're a regular buyer, it saves you far more than it costs.

      • a $30 voucher when you threaten to leave

        Thanks for reminding me!
        ka-ching!

Question. Next time, Should I cancel in a year's time OR after my membership gets renewed in June?

        • +1

The last two years I've just waited until a week before renewal, then gone through the cancel process. Once they say you can have a voucher to stay, you just say ok !!

      • lets be real, if its not for these $0 FVF promo's, eBay Plus is crap for most subscribers.

  • +1

can you just list many items like 15 and then when the 3 sell, you pull down all the other 12 advertisements?
It seems like the 3 free is for the first 3 items sold, right?

    • +1

      Yes that’s correct

      • awesome, thanks.

  • So you have 14day to sell or list ?

    • +1

      Both.

      • my understanding was that you can list during those 14 days and if it sells until before the listing is renewed, it will be 0% final value. SO that gives within 30 days to get it sold after listing. No?

    • One way to find out for sure is to have a look at your overview page after the promo end date and see if you still have it there.

  • I let my eBay Plus expire. Are there any decent sign up deals currently? Or just wait…

    • SB has $5 cashback for the monthly sub and $15 for yearly.

eBay offers a $30 GC (for a yearly renewal) when you try to cancel, not sure if this also applies to monthly subs though or if it stacks with cashback.

      • can't trust SB on this $5/15 cashback.
firstly joined one month e+ paid $4.99, SB tracked then rejected. hardly got $5 back from support with long time waiting.
then joined one year e+ at $4.99 promo last Dec, SB didn't track. raised missed cashback, after 2months SB simply rejected as no tracking.

  • Thanks OP. Manage to use up all 3 sales for the promotion saving myself $170.

  • Lol once again, the promo did not track for me…..onto eBay support I go…….

    • Are you by any chance using the relist option?

  • +1

Do you have to sell by the 28th? Or can you list i.e 27th and item sells on 3rd march?

    • i also wonder about this. i think you have to sell before 28 but. which was like last time.

    • Only needed to be listed before 28th. Can sell in March

      • Nope - "This promotion only applies to the variable fees on Eligible Listings that are sold during the Promotion Period."

        • We shall see

          • @proudwanderer: Yes, I am waiting to see if anyone gets the discount extend past the 28th.
eBay are so random with these things
