  • As a reminder, 2,000 Everyday Rewards points is equivalent to:

  • $10 in Everyday Rewards Dollars, or
  • 1,000 Qantas points.
  • There have been at least one previous report that the 10 gift cards per member limit is not enforced if you go to a different BIG W store and purchase different denominations of gift cards.

If you have a question regarding this gift card deal, please check out the FAQs wiki page.

  1. The 10% calculation assumes you opt to redeem your Everyday Rewards points for Everyday Rewards Dollars (either through Money Off Shopping or Bank For Christmas).

  • Sounds like a synced promo with Woolies posted here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/756067

  • Can rewards dolllars be used to pay for gift card purchase?

    • Nope

  • From the FAQs wiki page:

If you are trying to purchase more than $1,000 worth of gift cards in one transaction, the self-service checkout will not process the transaction

What about exactly $1000 face value @WookieMonster? Or does the fee count towards this limit?

    • The $1000 figure refers to the total purchase price, which would include any applicable purchase fees.

Actually, I will admit that the advice in the wiki needs updating, because approval limits (at least at Woolworths) is solely dependent on what is assigned to the staff member serving you at the self checkout. I have not tried to purchase more than $500 worth of gift cards in a single transaction at BIG W, so I am not sure how it works. However, I know that a lot of regular Woolworths staff can approve to up and including $1000 spend on gift cards and more senior staff can approve more (e.g. $2000), although one junior staff member at a Woolworths in my area cannot approve a $500 spend on gift cards!

  • Does anyone know if we can earn bonus points with those 3x points offer? I assume no cuz these doesnt earn standard points

    • +1

Are you talking about the Everyday Extra 3x points offer? If yes, I'm having the same question. From a quick glance at What products are excluded from collecting points?, it seems like a no to me but I hope I'm wrong.

    • +1

I don't think promo like this would stack with other promos on EDR points.

Coles seems to run FB points differently - you get 1x standard points on gift card purchases, then you get 19x bonus, while Woolies almost always give you 20x bonus, but no standard points. Not sure if that's to avoid stacking.

    • No, and the reason is not actually related to the lack of standard Everyday Rewards points awarded on purchases of gift cards.

Coles allows you to earn standard Flybuys points everyday on purchases of third-party gift cards, but if you try to trigger a bonus points offer (other than a bonus points offer that specifically mentions you will earn bonus points on purchasing a particular gift card), you will not earn any bonus points, because the terms of that bonus points offer will specifically exclude gift cards. For example, if you get an offer such as spend $50 at Coles in one transaction and get 2,000 bonus Flybuys points, the purchase of any gift cards will not trigger it. (Yes, I have tried recently.)

Everyday Rewards also specifically excludes the purchase of any gift cards from their bonus points offers. For example, if you have a 5x points storewide offer for BIG W activated on your Everyday Rewards account, the purchase of any gift cards will not trigger the 5x points offer. (Yes, I have tried recently at both Woolworths and BIG W.)

There was actually a long-running bug in Everyday Rewards where the purchase of some gift cards (e.g. Apple gift cards, Perfect EFTPOS gift cards) would accidentally trigger some bonus points offers (e.g. 5x points storewide offers for BIG W), but Everyday Rewards did a major overhaul of their back-end last year to finally stop this.

    • Yep I've been credited for such an offer before as WookieMonster mentioned, but initially at the cost of the deal bonus. The offer points were removed when the deal bonus points were manually added at my request, but they gave me 2000 points for the inconvenience.

  • It says a limit of 10 cards per member. is it 10 cards per gift card or all gift cards together, you can only buy up to 10 of them?

    • I am keen to find out too….does anyone know the answer pls? Thanks!

  • Does the once-a-month 10% discount you get with Everyday Rewards Extra for Big W and Woolworths work with gift card purchases ?

(I assume not, but would like a confirmation if anyone has tried it.)

  • I've got the remaining $2000 of gift cards I wanted.

I added them to my Apple account balance, as it was easy to scan the cards via my iMac webcam, but it won't let me purchase anything with them! When I use the balance to pay for a MBP, I click on "Review order" and nothing happens! It won't go through to the next page….

Any ideas on how to rectify?

    • Why don't you contact apple support

      • I couldn't in the arvo. I've since ordered it successfully using my balance but had to collect from store rather than delivery.

  • Anyone find any 200 dollars the perfect gift card (blue) please? Even the staff said they never seen them in the past.

  • $50 Airbnb OOS in store. Staff said that the $20-$500 card won't work even if you put $50 on it.

    • which store?

  • Can I use Big W GCs to buy Airbnb GCs?

  • Does the promotion on big w includes Apple variable gift card i.e. (20-500) Apple Gift Card

    • The BIG W catalogue does not show the variable load gift card, so I would say it is excluded from the deal.
