So $10 back on $100 spend?

    • +4

$10 worth of Woolworths candy, yes

  • Thanks for the reminder - they didn't give me any points last time around.
Now I have to remember to ring them.

    • +1

That's painful! Having to deal with EDR to get points credited.

    • I guess if you have everyday rewards app on your phone then it's easy to track. I have installed and when I bought last time Apple giftcards from woolies $$ appears straight away on my phone app.

    • Or you can swipe the EDR card first, scan those gift cards, and the cashier screen should show an estimate of points to earn, which should be the full 20x amount.

Doing this for a few times by now and haven't called them to sort the points out yet, maybe I'm lucky?

  • This is gonna get removed. Woolies get cranky if their latest offers are posted on OzBargain before 5pm Monday!

  • +1

Besides from the app store, what else can you do with these?

    • +4

The cards have been upgraded. Now you can buy almost anything from Apple with them. Hardware, subscriptions and more.

      • +2

This is so great that they've done that. Best way to get Apple products and subs at a "discounted" rate. Have been doing this for the past few years. Also great if you combine with EPP or EDU discount.

        • so you can use these with apple education? and what is the discount with this? I'm not familiar with these so excuse my ignorance

      • How do ya pay for subscriptions with these?

Like to pay for iCloud storage plans or Apple Music?

    • +5

You can also pay ATO tax with Apple gift card ;)

      • How ???

        • +1

It's a scam. That's why you're seeing those signages all around the gift card stand tell you don't buy because someone told you to do.

        • -2

You get a text message from the ATO saying you owe unpaid taxes and they will only accept Apple or Steam gift cards.
There are even signs about it at woolies and coles letting you know you may receive phone calls or requests to pay the ATO using gift cards, it's super helpful!

    • +12

      Relavant username

      • he keeps on buying

        • -2

          crocodile tears

    • +1

What don’t you like about them? Do you prefer Android?

      • Nah just prefer other gift cards that have discounts rather than points

        • +3

That’s fair enough, not everyone is chasing points and it’s rare to get a discount on Apple Gift Cards that doesn’t involve bonus points these days.

          • -3

@melbourne guy: They run quite often at Coles and Woolies

            Both point and discount promos

            • +3

@Poor Ass: I don’t think Coles / Woolies / Big W have offered percentage of discounts since iTunes Gift Cards got changed to Apple Gift Cards. It seems to be other providers such as card.gift that offer rare percentage off discounts these days.

              • +1

@melbourne guy: Ok maybe I haven't been paying attention

But they sure get done atleast every 3 months

I guess similar to the ultimate cards but atleast you can convert them to apple gift card too

              • +1

                @melbourne guy:

Which rock have you been hiding under?

Coles just finished running 15% off $20 Apple GCs on Tuesday this week. No points BS - just pure cash discount.

                • @DoctorCalculon: Yup and I bought $300 worth (requires 3 trip to Coles).

                • +3

@DoctorCalculon: That takes much more time and effort vs 10% off Woolies shop where you can just buy thousands of dollars worth of gift cards more easily. This offer is much more attractive to a lot of people.

                  • @tempco: But I have access to 4% off Woolies gift cards so not that attractive for me

              • @VantageXL: Thanks this is actually decent

Do the same things just repeat each year?

    • -1

If you don’t get a buzz out of an Apple Event, then you probably don’t have a pulse! Or I suppose it’s possible that you’re just not high on drugs like the rest of us

      • +2

Well…. If they got free food I'm there

      • +1

I think most of us just want to see some innovation! Tech upgrades have stagnated to a point where it seems every time a new model comes out, it’s just a slightly faster processor, slightly better camera, slightly longer battery life

        • Thought apple just keep using old hardware to their new devices and call it the best each year

          • @Poor Ass: For their base model products they tend to do that but for their “pro” models they seem to make enough improvements to call it a different chip name

        • +1

A new colour is enough to make me wet my panties, but I totally get your point

      • +1

I’m typing this from my iPhone 13 Pro Max.. but mate apple launches are not what it was. The magic of say, going from the iPhone 3GS to the 4, or 4 to the 5… compared to now where the 12,13 and 14 are identical virtually in everything, performance real world and the whopping $2k upgrade cost is “new usb-c!!” “New dynamic island” (someone please tell me how moving the notch even lower to the screen is better), in my eyes at least, is the biggest lack lustre crap I have seen and modern day foolery. The iPhone 15 will be an ultra where you don’t get the good stuff unless you buy that for $2500, all while priming your ass up for a $3k foldable which Samsung have already nailed with the flip and fold 3 and 4.
The launches aren’t even live anymore, bloody pre recorded infomercial

        • Good summary. Of course, Apple has done very well as a company under Tim Cook’s supervision, but I can’t help but think that the magic left with Steve Jobs…

  • +1

I am planing to buy $3900 laptop from apple educational store.
Is there any thing i can do, I do shop in woolies
so is it 10% back thing?
It says 1 transaction per day so i can buy any denomination card?

    • +2

The maximum denomination is $500. So you can buy a total of $5000 per day.
If it's not urgent, you could wait for an upsized cashback at cashrewards for the apple edu store. But it has not happened again for a while now.

    • store allows max upto $1000 spend on Apple gift card per day unless you have valid ABN and business details.

      • If you’re talking about the Apple Store, you can add any amount of gift cards to your Apple balance then use that to buy what you want. Just bought a $1.3k iPad Pro using this method.

        • They're actually talking about the fact that some Woolworths staff will require you to provide ABN / business details if you are wanting to spend at least $1000 on gift cards (including Apple gift cards) in a single instore transaction.

Also, your advice is fine if you want to purchase an iPad Pro over the phone or online. However, you cannot redeem an Apple Account Associated Balance in a physical Apple Store (at least in Australia).

          • @WookieMonster:

Wow that’s ridiculous, luckily I’ve never had that problem at my local store.

Also, your advice is fine if you want to purchase an iPad Pro over the phone or online.

Sorry should have elaborated, was definitely talking about the online store.

            • +3

@Dogsrule: If they ask you for details, just give some random numbers.

I have in the past supplied Woolies ABN instead.

            • +1

Wow that’s ridiculous, I’ve never had that problem at my local store.

The checkout does not actually make it mandatory to provide that information, but some staff will see the checkout system ask that information and not realise you can simply leave the fields blank… or staff realise you can leave it blank, but decided that the information needs to be captured anyway.

          • @WookieMonster: That’s also ridiculous. A phone costs $2000? It’s like getting a Louis Vuitton discount up to $100

  • Great to get it back ! 👍

  • -2

    Perfect to pay the ATO.

  • +2

The apple gift card comes with a logo sticker with different cool designs

  • -3

Good luck trying to find the $500 cards.
They get hidden all over the store before the sale day or else a common one is to hide them behind a whole wad of different gift cards.
You wonder if apple now factor in that people get the gift cards with ten per cent off?
Would apple offer this to woolies as a promo? As the margin on apple gift cards would be quite small.

  • can i use it to buy ipad at Education store?

    • +5

You can use Apple gift cards to pay for an iPad, but there are redemption limits to be aware of.

You can redeem a maximum of 8 Apple gift cards (in conjunction with a credit/debit card, if required) in a single transaction on Apple Online Stores, including the Apple Education Store and AOC Education Stores.

If you have more than 8 Apple gift cards to redeem on Apple Online Stores, a workaround is to add those gift cards to your Apple Account Associated Balance first, then redeem that balance (in conjunction with 8 Apple gift cards and/or a credit/debit card, if required).

      • -2

I don't think the limit of 8 Apple gift card is right. Or maybe they have changed the rules. I just uploaded 15 of them on my Apple account with no issue.

        • +2

Yes, you can load up to $4999 into your Account Balance from gift cards.

But if you don't add them to your account first, there's a limit of entering in 8 gift cards at checkout.

        • +2

The 8 limit is when you haven’t added them to your account. If you are happy to add them to your account you can do more.

The reason to not add them to your account is if you want to pay for in store transactions directly.

  • How does this WW Apple gift card work?if I get $500 card from Woolworth, then I get 10,000 points or $$ with x20 promotion next Wed 15/2? Are these everyday rewards points or the money that I can use to purchase apple product? I’m so confused of it. Can anyone explain to me? Want to know how much discount will get it from buying a $509 card with this promotion. Thanks in adv

    • You get Everyday Rewards points that can be turned into dollars off your Woolworths shop. A $100 gift card will get you enough points to take $10 off at Woolies, so it's effectively 10% off.

    • +1

You earn 20 rewards points per dollar you spend on Apple Gift Cards. You can then redeem 2000 rewards points for $10 off your future shopping. So a $500 Apple Gift Card will earn you 10000 points which gives you $50 off your future shopping.

Was just wonder if there will be a drop before Back to Uni ends. Here we go

  • what else can i use with this? i am still trying to use mine up from last time for clash of the clans.

  • so i can use this to buy an apple watch or airpods?

    • +1

      Yes

  • Can you use Woolies gift cards to buy these?

  • What are the chances of getting these? Do we need to push grandmas out of the way on the day?

Heard people talking about others hiding them in freezers etc… The recent $20 deal was not too bad. Thanks.

    • +1

In the deal a few weeks ago I purchased like the second last day of promotion and there were still millions of gift cards left.. I don't think these points deals are overwhelmingly popular as it's an indirect discount - the straight 10% off apple gift cards that show up twice a year or so are popular, they sell out quickly.

      • Great. Thanks.

  • Does this offer work on the variable apple gift cards? I.e. if I buy 10 x the variable cards and put $500 on each, will i get the 20 x points for the full $5000?

    • +1

Yes, it works on the variable load cards.

      • Cool. That's great. How will I know it has worked? Will I see it on my receipt?

        • +5

There are two ways you can tell at a self checkout whether you will automatically receive any points from this deal (and this is at the checkout before you have to pay):

          1. If the number of points you will earn through a transaction will push your Everyday Rewards account balance above 2,000 points (or a multiple thereof), as soon as you press Pay Now, a pop up message will appear on the checkout screen saying You have just saved $xx off your next shop / You have just banked $xx for Christmas / You have just earned **** Qantas points (or something along those lines).

          2. There should be a points counter towards to the top right-hand corner of the checkout. As soon as you press Pay Now, it will update from 0 to whatever the amount of points will be awarded for the transaction.

If neither of these happen, it means you will earn any points at the checkout and will need to wait 14 business days before you can chase up the Everyday Rewards team for the missing points… or you can contact Everyday Rewards before that 14 business day wait period is up, but keep in mind that you will likely be told to wait.

Assuming the points are credited automatically at the checkout, once you have paid for the gift cards, your receipt should say you have earned xxx points (assuming you still opt for paper receipts). The Everyday Rewards app or Everyday Rewards website should also update to indicate you earned xxx points for that transaction.

  • Can you buy discounted Woolworths gift cards I.e the usual 4-5% off and then use these to pay for Apple gift cards at checkout ?

    • +2

I would be surprised you could directly use a gift card issued by Woolworths Group to pay for any gift cards at Woolworths, because:

      • This is against the Woolworths Group gift card's terms and conditions.
      • Woolworths thoroughly updated their POS system nearly 5 years ago to automatically stop people from using Woolworths Group gift cards as a payment method for gift cards.
      • Woolworths' POS system will stop an Everyday Pay transaction if it detects that one of the items being purchased in the transaction is a gift card.

There is always a chance that it could work for you, but I would not expect it to work.

(You're also not the first person in this deal to ask that question.)

  • Can I use the Everyday Rewards Points collected from first several apple gift cards purchased to purchase more apple gift cards?

    • No. Cant Gift Card the Gift Cards

    • Probably not.

It was once possible when someone else in this comment section purchased so many Apple gift cards in the very first 30x points Apple gift card deal at Woolworths that their Everyday Rewards Dollars balance exceeded the balance limit, causing the checkout to automatically redeem Everyday Rewards Dollars to fully cover the cost of the Apple gift card being purchased…

I think this has been patched, especially since Everyday Rewards subsequently tightened up their terms and conditions to now say that if your Everyday Rewards Dollars balance exceeds the balance limit, it is likely you will not have any more Everyday Rewards points awarded to you until you start redeeming Everyday Rewards Dollars.

      In terms of other approaches:

      • If you scan a gift card and your Everyday Rewards card and then proceed to the payment screen, it will not show an option to pay using Everyday Rewards Dollars.

      • If you scan a gift card and items eligible to be paid for with Everyday Rewards Dollars, you will see an option to redeem Everyday Rewards Dollars (assuming those eligible items cost at least $10), but only enough to fully or partially cover the cost of the eligible items.

      • You cannot purchase gift cards using Everyday Pay, so that is not an option. I remember the one time I tried to purchase a gift card using Everyday Pay, my Everyday Rewards account had Everyday Rewards Dollars available for redemption, but there was no pop-up on the screen that asked me whether I wanted to redeem any Everyday Rewards Dollars.

  • Can I use more than one of these gift cards instore to purchase an ipad or iphone?

    • Yes, up to 8 in a transaction (definitely the case online, but I believe also apply in-store). It has to be an Apple retail store, though, not authorized resellers. Just buy the variable card with $500 face value. The most expensive iPhone shouldn't cost more than 8 of these cards (iPad might, buy WHY?).

Though you can top up all cards into your Apple account, buy online, then pick up in-store. Ask the store and see if they allow you to do this and get instant pickup.

      • so we can use unlimited number of cards - just top up the apple account, and use 20 x $100 cards to top up and then use the credit to buy a phone

        • +1

Yes. But only Apple online store, either delivery or pickup. You’ll still need the physical card in retail store.

  • Is there a limitation on maximum of points can be collected per EDR account for this promotion?

    • +1

700,000 Everyday Rewards points is the maximum you could earn assuming you bought 10x $500 variable load cards every day for the seven days that the promotion runs.

      • Thanks

  • Just bought a variable Apple Gift Card. The bonus points didn't show up yet. But the offer is in the new catalogue at the store. Keep your receipts.

    • I have enabled auto qantas point conversion and it landed in my qantas ff immedietely

      • So if you were to buy $500 gift card, you'll get 10,000 Qantas points? Is this good value?

        • $500 gives you 10,000 ERD/5,000 Qantas point. I only fly economy and the tickets Im looking to buy has classic reward with point to dollar ratio of ~50 points/$ so thats $100 qantas dolloar XD. Great value for me
