    • Same happened to me. Bought 2x variable with $500 loaded on both. Didn't get the bonus, but got standard 1000 points, which should not have happened. Contacted EDR and they're telling me to be "rest assured" that I'll be getting the points after 14 business days of the eligible spend. Now I gotta wait 14 business days to get them to fix it.

  • I went in store too early :( transactions over $1000 requires manager approval and they come to work after 9:30.

  • Thanks OP, got the bonus credit immediately this morning.

  • Just did it with a whole bunch of variable cars. Ask if i wanted to enter ABN I said no. Got all my points straight away!

  • is there any activation fees or any similar fees on the gift cards that lowers the value?
    Looking to buy a MBP

    • +2

Apple gift cards do not have any fees associated with them whatsoever.

  • No activation fees

  • Lady at the register could only do $2000 Max in one go (I was trying to do 10x500). She wanted me to just pay in several goes. So she scans 4, I pay. Scans another 4, I pay and so on. Will that violate the 'max 10 cards, one transaction a day' rule? Or if I keep the aggregate below 10 am I ok?

    • If they were put through as separate transactions you will only receive the points on the first transaction that day. You should already be able to see this in your Everyday Rewards app. If you get on live chat or call the Everyday Rewards team they will possibly manually credit you the missing points if you tell them that the Woolworths staff member told you that you had to put them through separately.

      • Thanks. I just did the first 2k and went to the brains trust.
I'll go back tomorrow. May need a manager to do it - she did attempt it but something prevented her on her side.

        • The store clerk I had also split up my purchase from one to two earlier today, I realised that I didn't receive any promotional bonus points for the second transaction.

However I just went on Woolies chat to explain the situation and was given all the bonus points. Very easy.

In the chat I emphasised that both of my transactions were done within a minute from each other and with the same payment details so there was no need for it to be seperated except that the store clerk wanted to do so.

        • she did attempt it but something prevented her on her side

That would likely be because the gift card approval limit assigned to her is $2,000 per transaction.

Different staff members have different approval limits assigned to them. For example, one very junior staff member at a local Woolworths cannot approve a $500 gift card purchase, so they have to ask the a more senior staff member to come over and approve the transaction themselves.

I suspect duty managers and store managers do not necessarily have a limit assigned to them, but I would be rather surprised if they approved a $5,000 gift card purchase, especially with all the gift card scams and fraudulent transactions going on these days…

@WookieMonster: Yes, it does seem suss. She did double-check I wasn't attempting to pay the 'ATO' or similar. I said that actually I was after the points to effectively buy a laptop at a discount (which is true) and her suspicion evaporated as she could see the discount pop up on the register. Also she asked for photo Id. Hopefully a manager sees it the same way.
Sadly buying a high-end MBP comes in at around 4-5K these days. Hoping with tax depreciation, AOC and rewards points, that the real depreciation cost of the laptop is only around $200-300 p.a. if I sell it every year or two. Pretty good for having a top of the range laptop every year.

            • @pos: $4-5k MBP is hardly high end. Slightly upgraded is ~$4-5k. Flagship MBP is north of $10k.

I said the same to the Woolies staff when I bought my GCs.

              • @t25: You can get the 14" Max with max cores for 4.5K (AOC). I'd say that's high end. Anyway, who cares. We are basically having an 'argreement' - 5K is actually not as much as it sounds in Apple dollars.

          • +1

@WookieMonster: Depends on who you get. I have in the past managed to successfully get store managers to approve a $5k sale. Others will just spout BS about a hard limit of $1k (or lower)

  • painless, got the points straight away on 1k, cheers OP

  • Just did a transaction but my local Woolies Manager would only do $1000 worth of gift cards…..

Have to go another 2 times now… Unless I go to a different store tomorrow and try my luck. The points showed up immediately.

BIG W has the same deal for some Apple gift cards starting tomorrow, so that is an alternative if you happen to have a Woolworths and BIG W near each other and find that Woolworths staff are not keen on selling you too many Apple gift cards to you tomorrow.

I once had a Woolworths duty manager tell me I could only purchase $300 worth of Apple gift cards per day, so I guess it could have been worse for you…

  • Has anyone else not got the bonus points at the time of transaction? I’m still waiting gut mine 24 hours later.
Bought variable value card at a Woolworths Metro.

    • Does the purchase show in your Everyday Rewards transaction history?

      • Yes. the purchase is there. i've online chatted with the rewards people. they say i have to wait 14 days…

        • Sometimes the bonus points on the variable cards don't arrive automatically. You may not have to wait fourteen days as they sometimes go through and manually credit the points before then. The last time this happened to me the points came a week after purchasing.

  • Just back from my local Woolworths Metro. Store manager refused to sell me more than $500 worth of cards. Said it was "store policy". I told him that the terms and conditions allowed me to buy up to $5000 worth of cards (10 x $500 variable). He said it didn't matter what the T&C said - that was their policy. I said that is false advertising. He wouldn't budge.

Another manager with his own set of rules.

    • Get the managers name and email headquarters. Ask them whats the go?

Maybe they credit you some points for the inconvienence.

      • I did that. The state manager made up her own set of rules instead.

You can buy a maximum of $1000 in any one go. The quantity limit of ten applies to $50 and $100 denominations.

I call BS as I have been approved before for $5k in one go, even at the same store over the seven days.

I even posted on their Facebook page, but my comment got deleted instead.

  • It's a shame that Woolworths is running false advertising. They need to rein in their rogue store managers who act contrary to Woolworths advertising and T&C.

  • Can this promotion be mixed and matched with the BIG W promo.

For example: I go to Woolworths and get $1000 in gift cards (because they have their own bullshit "store policy" about their spending limits)
And then I go to Big W to get $200 more in gift cards.

Will this credit my points as Woolworths has a 1 transation per day policy?

    • I see no problems with earning points from this promotion and the BIG W promotion.

Those are two separate promotions being run at two separate businesses. Neither promotion mentions any other promotions or businesses in the fine print as restrictions or exclusions, so I would say you would be fine.

If in doubt, check before you pay whether you will earn any bonus points. This advice is applicable to both Woolworths and BIG W.

  • I visited a Woolies Metro, but the apple gift card rack didn't have the r rewards boost sticker as in the listing image. If I buy now will I still get the rewards?

    • I got my rewards with a $50 gc purchase today at a metro. The receipt stated that 1000 points was credited equating to $5.

      • Ok, great! @slam The store didn't have the r rewards booster sticker for you as well, right?

        • No, no stickers at all.

  • This does not work at Woolies. I tried to buy a $200 Apple gift card today and the points didn’t show up on the checkout so I ask the employee and they said gift card promos are the ones advertised in the rewards app. The current rewards app promo only give 6x points for non-Apple gift cards and points are granted 14 days later. So I didn’t buy it.
    I’ll try BIGW next time

      (Welcome to OzBargain!)

I tried to buy a $200 Apple gift card today and the points didn’t show up on the checkout

Did you go to the payment screen?

From my experience, if the checkout will award you with points on the spot, the checkout will not update until you have scanned your Everyday Rewards card and have gone to the payment screen.

If you did scan your Everyday Rewards card and went to the payment screen and still saw no evidence of being awarded any points, unfortunately you would need to wait 14 business days for the points to be loaded onto your account (or subsequently chase it up with Everyday Rewards).

I ask the employee and gift card promos are the ones advertised in the rewards app

I’m going to assume that employee has never looked at any Woolworths catalogues stocked at their store?

This deal is advertised on the front page and page 14 of the current Woolworths catalogue (at least on the VIC Metro one, anyway). There was actually one Apple gift card deal at Woolworths last year where it also appeared as a booster in many Everyday Rewards members’ apps at the same time as appearing in a Woolworths weekly catalogue, but that was definitely unusual…

    • This does not work at Woolies

It does. Unfortunately, you just received incorrect advice.

      so I ask the employee

Don't do this. Staff are completely clueless about gift card promotions. Just ask on here if you have any questions.

  • I got the remaining $2000 of gift cards I wanted today. Reward cash was available immediately.

I added them to my Apple account balance ($3100 total), as it was easy to scan the cards via my iMac webcam, but it won't let me purchase anything with them! When I use the balance to pay for a MBP, I click on "Review order" and nothing happens! It won't go through to the next page….

Any ideas on how to rectify?

    • It's all good. Changed to pickup instead of delivery and it worked…. Weird…

  • Bought $900 worth at Woolworths Brisbane CBD today, the register said I had saved $90 off a future shop at time of purchase and the dollars were in my account a couple of hours later. One of the cards didn’t activate so had to go to the service desk, but aside from that it was a painless experience.

  • Are the variable cards loading the rewards immediately or are you guys playing it safe getting the $100 cards?

    • +1

Variable's loaded the rewards immediately for me.

  • I went to a bigger woolworths today. They let me max out the variable cards but they wanted ID including an ABN. weird. anyway, points came straight away.

    • Just give them a string of numbers. Its not like they are going to check anyway.

  • +3

This thread is one reason why OzBargain is such a great community. Thanks to reading this site I learned about the promo, knew to be ready for being questioned when buying $2k worth of gift cards and knew to insist on it being one transaction when they said ‘can we put it through as two seperate transactions’.

So my transaction went through perfectly and the points I secured showed on the receipt. Saved $200.

    Thanks all.

    • Do you need to go to the store fot that? How to save 200 , i want to byy iphone 14 pro msx and looking for some discounted card

      • It’s not discounted cards. It’s extra Woolworths reward points. The $2k worth of Apple vouchers I bought are worth $200 in rewards so I’ll save that on my next shop.

  • Can I purchase this tomorrow 21.02.2023 or today was the last day?

    • +1

      Tomorrow is the last day.

      • awesome, thank you!
Will drop by Woollies tomorrow :)

  • Wanted to get $2000 gift cards, checkout counter said if its above 1k they need approval from manager.
so he split it into two payments.
asked the checkout counter, will I still get 20x points if I split payment, he said yes.

So paid the $1000 gift card immediately receive 20k points.

then paid the next transaction $1000, but only receive 1000 points, asked about that. He said it will be there in 14 days.
But according to terms and condition, its one transaction per day.

Can I bring this up to the online team for help?

    • In my experience, you won't get your bonus points for the second transaction. You got duped by the manager giving you wrong information.

      • Really? That’s a shame…. Let me try and ask them.

        • If you tell the Everyday Rewards team that the staff at Woolworths told you that you would still get the points they will almost certainly credit you the extra points. I've seen this happen several times and it was always made right by them.
