[NSW] Vodafone Pocket Wi-Fi $29 (Save $70) @ Woolworths, Mortdale

210

Hi All,

I went into Woolworths Mortdale - NSW for a quick grocery run.

I saw a few cards for the $99 Vodafone Pocket Wifi 4g. It comes with a modem and I believe a $50 starter pack.

I asked the lady behind the counter who said she several in stock.

It wasn't for me but maybe for those in the area.

Thanks

I got these and the router versions from here maybe 13+ years ago.

    Double data as well.

Fortunately technology has come a long way in 13 years — this pocket Wi-Fi modem features the very latest Micro-USB port. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, I say

Mortdale…what a place, full of absolute morts.

    • Mort + dale = Death + valley

  • How much to unlock it?
Might be a good option with a good jb/good guys plan

    • I think it's 50$ on Vodafone website. However you can use it without unlocking either Lebara or Felix Mobile.

Felix has unlimited data plan for about 35$ with decent speed up/down 20mbps.

If you ever try can you please drop in the results of Google speed test. Thanks.

  • Same deal here in Woolworths Werribee Central in Vic.

I've used these with unlimited data plan on Felix network but was not able to get more than 3mbps. On the contrary a mobile hotspot works with close to 20mbps as promised.

Has anyone else tried these with Felix Mobile? What was your experience?

    • Do they allow hotspot? Tethering?

  • Also looking for a cheap alternative for mobile broadband for grandparents who stream videos. Basically anything over $60 per month means it's better to go with nbn. But looking for cheaper.

  • Finder.com.au has some good 6 month Sims at 50% off. Like tpg 60G/ month for 6 months at $20 per month or Optus $69 per month for 220G or aldi $45 for 170G (not discounted).

    • Go for Felix unlimited data plan for 35$ a month. Excellent network speed and gives you ultimate flexibility.

They give first month free access with a referral code.

Are these definitely locked? I think the last time I bought a Vodafone one (years ago) it wasn't

I bought one from the AusPost deal a few years ago, and def not locked. Had to input new specs into setup to change carriers, but quick search told me how to..Works really well, btw

  • Is it locked, and only works for Vodafone sim ?

  • None available in Mortdale when I went there yesterday afternoon. Despite there being nine cards in on the rack, the drawers had no stock. The store manager said that "Vodafone stopped sending us those a while ago" so I suggested it might be a good move to take the cards off the display…

No time to check any other WW stores to see if others had stock. One wasted trip was enough for me, and the last time I'll be going to Mortdale Woolworths!

  • $19 now, maybe $9 next week, $5 after two weeks. An eGC payable, EDR pts eligible item.

Check stock level via App, but may be not accurate.

  • So what is the verdict - are these network locked?

It shows unlocked from the Huawei App, but I haven't used a non-Vodafone network SIM yet.
