excatly what i was going to say, with blueray players now under 80 bux… why waste money on a dvd player that is just going to end up landfill, bit of a waste…
      http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/home%20theatre/blu-ray%20play…

      • LOL Sony vs Soniq i wonder which one end up in landfill first

        • They probably made in the same factory in China. Do you still think Sony make their Dvd player in Japan?

      • well !. wisc ! you are wasting your money too if you dont have big screen full hd tv with proper surround sound system set up.why anyone would buy blu-ray player and discs when they have limited space at hone or does not have proper system to get full glory of blu-ray?.

        • 100" drop down screen - benQW6000, LG 42"3d LCD, 7.1 sound system using 12AWG :D /bragging :P

in all seriousness though, I'm sure MANY people have MUCH better systems than i do, but even now most people will notice a benifit from Bluray, specially as they are backward compatible.

i think more to the point, like VHS they will slowly be phased out over the next few years. so even if there isnt a great benifit future support may be better on the bluray.

but like any consumer product, your right they all are getting a bit consumable, who knows if the shelf life of one of these products is only 3 or so years now, then there will probably be many DVDs around for atleast that long… though i guess your just limiting your media options.

The small print suggests you might be lucky enough to get a Sony subsidised Sony BDPS185 Blu-Ray player for this price:-

Pay Less Pay Cash. Unbeatable on price. DVD/CD playback. HDMI up-scaling. USB playback. Slim and compact design. DVPSR760HPB. As of close of business yesterday Sony has not delivered our back page sku (DVPSR760HPB). This sku was aggressively priced at $44- and was forecast to be a very good traffic driver. If you have received inventory of the DVPSR760HPB, you do not have an issue. If you have not received inventory of the DVPSR760HPB, you may sell the BDPS185 in its place at $44- Sony will be charged the difference. Please note: •Do not hold off booking stock of the DVPSR760HPB in an effort to justify selling the BDPS185 in its place. Sony will be checking PODs and will challenge every claim that does not match the PODs •Ensure that once you receive inventory of the DVPSR760HPB, you no longer offer customers the BDPS185 in its place •Limit sales to 1 per customer

      • This info is visible - though hard to print unless you print screen - on the GG website. Go to Catalogues then choose the Olympic catalogue - it is at the top there.

  • Does MIDI DVD player mean karaoke time?

  • Specs don't mention MIDI at all. Possibly a typo?

  • Does it play MIDI files?
