It was not on this week special catalogues. Good price, not sure about the quality. Anyone can suggest?
Bought 1 anyway

Agreed. Was using Moro Extra Virgin and swtiched to Cobram Extra Virgin - there is no comparison, Cobram is superior. You can really taste the difference in salad dressings.
Strange it was on the back page of the catalouge we got. And yes we are purchasing a couple of them as well.
Yep, back page of catalogue
Australian has got to be a bonusThere have been a number if exposes Of how the Europeans have been selling us rancid (ie. poisonous) olive oil and oils that aren't olive oil. There were a few other countries involved in the scam (inc. a few Australian businesses). Cobram was one of a few that came up trumps (ie. they were legit).
Some of the companies that should be avoided includes:
Bertolli,
Bionature,
Carbonell,
Colavita,
Fresh,
Isabella,
La Espanola,
Lupi,
Moro,
Paese Mio,
VettaI won't touch these brands again. Any company that sees fit to sell me poison as a health product is highly unethical.
There are many articles supporting this over the years, here's one of many,
http://m.adelaidenow.com.au/olive-oil-con-hits-south-austral…IMHO, this Cobram is a good bargain.
Thank you for that information.
I'm just surprised that not a lot of publications reported this other than obviously unreliable Today Tonight (trash media) and Weekly Times (farmer lobby).

Oo oh… I use some of these brands.
Where did this list of dud olive oil producers come from please? It is NOT in the article you quote. You've made an extraordinarily sweeping accusation that you need to substantiate….
$12 for 4l is cheap - I thought the europe ones were good value when $20 for 4l
For those of you don't want to rush in for the deal, you can buy REMANO ® Pure Olive Oil 4L for $14.99 at Aldi any time even though it's $2.5 more expensive.
Is it Australian or imported? If not Australian then it's not really a bargain compared to this and probably is an inferior product. Last stuff I read the Australian olive oils fared much better in terms of quality.
Last stuff I read the Australian olive oils fared much better in terms of quality.
it ain't necessarily so…..

A South Australian company has been fined after Australian Competition and Consumer Commission tests indicated that its products labelled ‘extra virgin olive oil’ were not the premium products the claim suggested.
The ACCC commissioned testing of seven oils labelled ‘extra virgin olive oil’ after tests by the Australian Olive Association cast doubt on their quality. Oz Olio was found to have free fatty acids above the levels allowed in Australian and international trade standards, and the producer, the Big Olive Company, paid infringement notices of $13,200.
Pure olive oil vs Virgin. Pure is the lowest grade, virgin is in the middle.
This is a great deal.
Cobram is always up around the top of every review I have read.
Thanks OP.Thanks for posting the deal, definitely a good one. :-)
Extra thanks to those who flagged the questionable quality of imported olive oils. I tend to treat Today Tonight like the bubonic plague and avoid at all costs. So extra thanks to who flagged this.
NSW catalogues don't seem to have it advertised, so perhaps its only a region specific deal? Seems those sayinging it's on special and in their catalogue are QLD only?
Anyone able to confirm if this is a nationwide special or not?
Thanks. :-)
They have this at Coles St Agnes in SA. It wasn't in the catalog, but they have a huge pallet of it near the front of the store.
So QLD and SA confirmed.
Op bought some in NSW.
I'd say it's national.
EDIT: Tried VIC, WA online, they have it too. Definitely national.
I believe it is national wide coz I
saw this promotion in coles store in subiaco of Perth in WA last week.
I thought only developing countries like China or India has food safety issues….shocked to see once highly regarded European products on the blacklist …. I used to be a big fan of Spanish or Italian or Greek oliver oil , ………….
Most businessmen are the same regardless what coutries they are from. They only want to maximise their profit.
They have the same blood…
too simple, sometimes naive
I love and buy "Always fresh" olive oil. any reviews on this?
8/20 in the choice review:
http://www.choice.com.au/reviews-and-tests/food-and-health/f…And Cobram got 15 (2nd place)…. so very worthy of at least a trial.
(mind you review is from 2010)
Good post OP, will give Cobram a go!
This is being pedantic, but the Choice review refers to Cobram Extra Virgin. The variety on special is Virgin.
No, thats not pedantic. Cobram sell 3 grades of "virgin", and there is a difference, at least in flavour. Get Canola oil if you want "light".
are the normal olive oil real or do they have other oil in it,
anyone know if they do testing on just olive oil?I dont buy extra virgin very often, i hope there's isn't crap in the normal olive oil!
Bought 2 tonight. Anyone know the difference/relationship between Cobram estate and Cobram classic? Hope it's not like Sony and Sonic?
it's Soniq. for me, they all taste the same :P
All gone at Chadstone! Not sure if they will re-stock.
cobram is good, much better than the Moro based on last review as far as I know.
