    ETA?

    • I'm also waiting from last year.

    • Yes please

  • For video retention does this need a subscription or can you hook it in to something like a Synology NAS ?

    • You could hook it into your NAS.

Note to shop around. These are sold on aliexpress, sometimes a LOT cheaper.

      • I can't find my receipts but I think I only paid something like $120 for these (not from Ali though). May have been an older model but this was only about a year ago.

        • I reckon i paid just over $100. This model, maybe 2 years ago

    • You can throw a memory card in and access that remotely. No good if someone steals the camera of course but still better than paying a sub.

    • You need a subscription or it has an internal SD card. The one free camera subscription only lasts a month. Every month you need to renew it. Tedious.

It doesn't work with a Synology or other video storage solution.

  • These are pretty good cameras but will not work with BI or similar. If they did I'd have a bunch of them.

  • Bought this exact model + solar panel combo from Aliexpress last week for $150 total (including solar panel). Shipped from Sydney to Melbourne in 4 days. Camera quality is outstanding in both day & night. App was very easy to setup & use.

Edit: Solar panel was great. On overcast day, it still managed to charge my battery from 60% to 90% in one day.

  • Have the argus 3 non pro. Good cameras use it at my in-laws so i don't need to have a NVR or pay a subscription.
Software works and is easy to use. Setup was easy. 64gb SDcard is way more then enough.
Cameras are high up so no real risk of being stolen in my case.

Note i'd paid $132 from shopping express for each camera and solar panel including delivery in Nov 2021 for the argus 3. Not sure if tis worth the extra 50$ for the pro.

    • Probably not. I got the pro version 1st ( couldn't connect to 5GHz) then 2nd one with the non pro (2.4GHz).

Both working well at 2.4GHz. happy with it

  • Paid $150 Argus 3 pro with solar panel.

  • Much better than Argus 2? Motion detection is absolutely awful on mine and extremely difficult to even get it to work half the time.

    • Yes, the AI motion detection on 3 pro is brilliant.

    • I have 2 of these and also 2 Augus 1. I think detection range might be a little better, but not much better. The main improvement is the AI feature which may reduce false alarms.

      • False alarms? Sounds like a luxury. I grabbed a few Wyze cams and they are a million times better in terms of detection but in 2 spots i need solar cams so previously got Argus 2 but they might as well be a fake deterrent cam the detection is that crap, fiddly to position, and delayed if it even does.

        • Yeah Reolink's PIR sensors have limited range, I thought it's just the nature of the tech. Which Wyze camera do you have? I see they have solar panels now, so I'll give them a go if on sale.

@nfr: I've got a few Wyze Cam v2 (replaced with the OG now i think) and 1 Wyze Cam 3. Most are outside but under cover. Im interested in upgrading 2 to the new Wyze Cam 3 Pro when stock returns, and maybe get one v3 floodlight. We'll see.

The Wyze with solar panels are for the Outdoor Cam. From memory they had a bit more negative feedback so i never bothered trying. Some people have done their own backyard solar panel+battery jobs with the other Wyze models though but not something i cbf with.

I was interested in the Reolink Duo 2 but alas its not solar, and im not sure if the floodlight version is the same or not. But they are considerably more expensive and i feel already burned by how crap the Argus 2 detection is to gamble that much coin again. A friend has the Eufy pan cam floodlight 2k which seems to work really well despite some negative things i read online, quite like it, but the last thing i need is a third eco system. And it's like $450 on a good day.. so..it would want to be!

  • Hey OP,

Do you know when this will be available to order: https://reolink.com/au/product/reolink-video-doorbell/#overv…

    Thank you.

  • What is time delay from recognition to video recording? I have an old Reolink and a person can almost be back up the driveway before it starts recording.

  • It took me three weeks to get an address to post a defective Argus 3 Pro for an RMA. I had to pay for the return postage (+$9.70). I was dissapointed to find out that it doesn't work with Synology Security but I wouldn't have bought it had I known how tedious the return process was. I am literally at the "The device is in the mail to them" stage of the return process. If I get the replacement I'll probably give it to my neighbour for them to manage and point at my house and look into a different system for my place.

    I regret my purchase.
