Extra large hardside suitcase.
Looks to be a decent discount when compared to any others out there. Cheapest looks to be around $220-230.

This is probably one of the larger suitcases you can buy from most brands, so don't think you would have any issues stuffing a tone of things in there.
81CM is generally on the bigger side, so you'll definitely have plenty of space. But you could get away with a 65-70cm suitcase for 2 weeks
I think you should be fine, we had two similar sized suitcases when we went there several years ago.
There's probably two things I'd check:
1. If you're taking the Shinkansen, you may need to book this piece of luggage, which is free to do, but you will be charged if it exceeds their requirements and you haven't booked.
2. Subway exits that have an elevator. I made the mistake of just going to whatever exit was closest and found that the escalators took me half way and then I had another set of steps to get up.This size occasionally gets shoved into oversized check in - would recommend bump down a size unless you really need this large.
I have 20kg checked if that makes a difference, smaller is usually my go to for luggage, I am a pretty light packer, itll be mainly souvenirs coming back thats my concern, I doubt ill fill half the bag with clothes lol.
I’ve been on dozens of international flights with 81cm luggage and never once had my case put as oversized.
81cm is quite a huge bag and would be too big for a 2 week holiday for a self-described light packer in my view, unless you want to pack a bunch of bulky winter clothes. Try doing a google search for "suitcase size guide" for a better idea of the suitcase sizes.
Agree. If i am goind for 2 weeks, i pack carry on size (55cm). More than 2 then bump to 67cm. If you only travel to 1 destination then pack whatever, otherwise it is a hassle to drag that luggage size hopping from one place to the next.
if you're going to a lot of cities and moving around a lot with your luggage, 65-75cm is probably a good balance between space and ease of use/movement/manoeuvrability/convenience. If you're just staying in 1-2 hotels then 80cm might be ok, plus it's always better to have more space than less if you buy a lot of impromptu stuff!
No you’d want the 75cm which is the largest you can practically take on the bullet train without looking like an American Tourister. We have this case in 75cm. I’d also recommend Delsey Clavel which is a bit dearer but lighter and better.
Can just buy Uniqlo tax free in Japan
However, you will find travelling with in on the bullet train in Japan bothersome since this is considered a large suitcase.
American Tourister are very good on customer service. they sent me new wheels for my 9 year old suitcases.
No one talked about the $75 postage, you could get a spinner for that much …. Anyways I have a smaller size of the same model and its great.
You can do click and collect if you have a Myer nearby I guess, but agree the high postage hurts
no stock around melbourne
Is it just me or do the prices for luggage just seem to be completely disconnected with reality?
Anyone paying full price for luggage is a sucker. The way luggage gets loaded I'd want as good a brand as possible for as cheap as possible.
Can always use retro woven bags from cheap as chips for $5, the luggage people use in Africa.
Pretty much. Myer and David Jones regularly take turns discounting them by minimum 30% (usually 40 - 50%) although obviously you need to plan ahead as there's rarely a sale when you want/need as happened to me last year LOL.
Definitely these days as price of travel has gone up and stores would be trying to clear off as much as possible and losing as little as possible due to covid. Can imagine how much inventory is costing the retailer's in rent space, especially during the two years when travel was not possible.
Even with the ridiculous delivery cost they still wont deliver to Perth, no stock anywhere locally.
4.4kg lol
As per comment above I would go with the Delsey Clavel 71cm, also on sale at Myers for $197.50 (finishes today). I had 3 weeks in Greece earlier this year and used this case. 81cm is just to big to lug around especially if you are getting on and off the trains.
You can also pick these up, plus a similar size American Tourister, for around the same price at the DFOs.Waiting for a deal on samsonite cosmolite
Careful, they are phasing out Cosmolite and replacing with C-lite which is slightly heavier(dammit). You still may be able to find some Cosmolite on clearance.
'american tourister' plasted on the front.
Good way to get your bags messed with.
What are people’s thoughts on July luggage? It’s all over social media, comes with a hefty price tag and has tons of 5* reviews. Is it the Sleeping Duck of the travel bag game?
Just a fad and way too heavy.
All over social media doesn’t meant it’s good. The reviews I’ve seen say that it’s overpriced rubbish. Stick to the known brands, not something an “influencer” has been paid to promote because it looks cool.
Yep, my thoughts exactly
Coles got myer gc with extra15% today
Yep no more in Melbourne :(
However if you are willing to wait Amazon AU has a similar price ($179.4) but its on pre order.
Can someone help a newbie - the last time I travelled out of the country I was knee high to a grasshopper lol.
Would this be a suitable suitcase for 2 weeks in japan on holiday? I may be able to post my trinkets and whatever else I buy there to make things easy and I pack reasonably light, 4.4kg means nothing to me as I have never really gone on big flights.
