    Hopefully it doesn't snap..

    • +4

The official ones all do. Total garbage. Been through 2, they make it a pain to get a refund/new one too.

      • +4

That sucks. I saw a similar comment as yours previously. I 3D printed my strap with a portable powerbank slot 2 years ago and haven't had any issues - and I anticipated it snapping and having to reprint many times.

        • +3

I never got a power one. Just the standard "elite strap". I was lucky and my first lasted like 6 months. Others were reporting cracks immediately at launch. You could see the hairline fractures happening around the joint in advance. Even treating it super carefully

Got a kiwi one now. Has a different joint system which stops the cracking. Not one with a battery pack though. I just plug it in with my quest 1s long power cable if I need to play over 2 hours.

          • +2

@RI4V4N: Honestly the powerbank is only needed rarely if I forget to charge or if my partner wants to play too after my session - it's not really necessary in my experience. Just be careful with the power port when using a long cable, I heard it's not good with wear and tear.

            • @Lucille Bluth: Had no problems with the USBC port so far. Had it since launch. The quest 1 cable is pretty good quality and has a triangular joint which keeps it pretty tight.

      • +2

I also had one snap within the first ~6 weeks. Took two months to get it replaced and was kind of a pain. Swapped to a Kiwi strap which has been good for the last year or so, though I think slightly less comfortable. A lot of people have luck with the Bobo M2 strap but my head doesn't seem to be the right shape for halo straps unfortunately.

        • +1

Yep kiwi one works well. I did get replacement pu leather eye cup things from occulus because the original ones were making my face itchy (and a gov agency somewhere I believe forced them to offer this) and I think together with the kiwi strap it's super comfortable. Feels way more premium than any headset I've owned now. Don't love halo bands either, the psvr 1 one was horrific.

Love the headset though. Looking forward to number 3.

  • +3

My standard elite strap still in good condition since launch. So not too worried about it snapping.

    • +2

So was mine (with battery), hardly used it at all.

Then lifted it up as normal, snap.

      Got it swapped though.

  • +1

Bummed I missed that 3rd party battery strap for $25.

Everything else seems too expensive now…

    • +1

I would still grab an aftermarket strap if you can find one. I got that $25 one and it makes using the Quest so much more enjoyable.

      • +1

Yeh, I have a Halo and BoboVR but none with battery. For $25 yeh, but don't really need any more straps to pay more than that.

        • +1

          Maybe this might suit? https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08P1N8LDQ/

I was tossing up between this strap and getting the bobovr kit, ended up snagging that $25 one (but then the bobovr went on sale so… that's coming too). I'll probably turf the kiwi strap I had, and keep the vivaforte as a backup to the bobovr.

          • @kwchaz: Yep I think something like that is prob what I'd go with for now. Been meaning to print a nice mount for it for ages, though when I say I don't really need, it's generally because by the time the internal battery is done, I've had enough anyway.

  • +9

My advice spend a few extra and grab the BOBOVR M2 Plus Halo strap bundle (around $150 on Amazon or $140 va AliExpress). Comes with 2 swappable magnetic batteries and a magnetic charging dock. Way comfier, much better build quality and a lot more convenient.

    • +1

How’s this go with super sweaty sessions?

When I play les mills body combat for even a 30 min I am absolutely drenched in sweat (kfc and pack a day will do that to ya) and the default eye pad is absolutely deteriorated so now after a good long term solution

      • +3

Kiwi design sell a ventilated spacer that works pretty well. There are battery powered fan versions for more cooling if you're particularly wet ☺️

Also FYI The BOBOVR M2 strap comes with two varieties of the back of head padding, a regular gel and a more breathable honeycomb one.

      • +1

With the stock strap sweat was definitely a problem so ended up using a headband but with the BOBOVR haven't had that issue.

      • +2

There is also a bobovr f2 fan which doesn't so much blow air on the face but rather draws the humidity out away from the face. I've found this helps with sweat and fogging.

      • +1

I'm also a big sweater, and play about an hour / day of Beat Saber.

I use VRCover Fitness interface for my face (comfy, and very easy to clean properly). BoboVR M2 pro for the strap. If I were buying now, I'd get a BoboVR F2 fan instead of the VRCover, for the money.

I also really like to have a supply of Aliexpress headbands, and wristbands. They actually help more than anything, IMO!

        • Yeah I was thinking light ankle and wrist weights and sweat bands - actually getting quite into body combat, really exceeded expectations

          • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Be really cautious with weights mate! Lots of physios on Youtube reckon they're a really bad idea for VR, for all kinds of complicated reasons.

    • +1

I second this. I have a BOBOVR M2 Plus strap with twin batteries combo. It is great for extended sessions, very comfortable on the face now as pressure distributed much more evenly, especially as a glasses wearer. Hot swapping batteries is very easy. Great build quality.

Link to what I think is the referred to pack.

    • ^ this. I bought a bobovr strap off Ali during 2020 lockdowns and still going strong today. Super comfortable for extended play sessions. I decided on the bobovr after hearing about all the broken straps with the elite

  • +2

Nice find, but Halo strap > Elite strap

    https://amzn.asia/d/9q4gC7K
    These are cheaper too

  • +1

Alternate if you have any e.g.10000mAh spare power banks around, then works well with the popular KIWI design Comfort Head Strap. Just Velcro it to the rear. Connect using a USB cable like the UGREEN USB C Cable Right Angle 90 Degree USB A to Type C. Lasts longer than the incl 5200 mAh which comes with the Elite strap noted here.

  • Meh, waiting for quest 3

  • Sorry for poor knowledge,
I have just bought a meta quest 2.
    Should I buy this ?
If my friend comes over and he wants to play with me. Can we play multiplayer using this and existing one.
Or we have to buy 2 meta quests?

    • +1

This is just an improved strap. If you want something more comfortable and first party, this would be worth considering otherwise look at some of the other options here. Personally, I went with adaptors, the HTC DAS, and a counterweight.

      • +1

Same here, went with an extra battery as my counter weight, great piece of kit, but very hard to find at a reasonable price nowadays

    • +1

Brah. It’s just a head strap. If you have insanely tiny heads you might be able to squeeze in and get one eye each.

    • +1

What… you need two quests and two accounts with the game unless it’s a free game

    • +1

This is just an alternative strap, not a complete unit.

    • Thank you everyone.
Any free recommended good games for it ?

  • OOS :(

  • Did anyone grab one who doesn’t need it?

    • +4

      Literally everyone here

      • Are users who don't have a Quest 2 buying it?

Is it useful for anything else? I could be wrong but don't think it works with the Quest 3.

  • +3

after getting the bobovr 2M plus, i dont know why ppl still want this style…

    • +2

People trust first party accessories - now you know.

  • +2

    RRP $190 .. now ONLY $202.

  • +1

I bought my son the Kiwi Design one without the battery about a year ago. Excellent piece of kit.

  • Wonder if this product will be deleted like echovr is being deleted 👀

I have the bobvr m2 pro and it is great

  • Hey there - I get really really bad skin rash under my eyes using the Quest even for short periods, and I am using the supplied silicon cover.

Is there any strap I can use that would stop this from happening? I've been unable to use it for more than 15 mins at a time.
For example, would a BOBOVR M2 Pro be a good purchase?
    Any suggestions most humbly received!

    • +2

They are required to replace the face cushion thing for you. Call them.

TLDR: They cheaped out and used a material that they knew would cause allergy/rash for some people. They have an alternative but you need to ask for it

      • Hi Justtoreply, thanks - I am actually using the silicon cover supplied (this is the one they ship out) The original "felt" eyepiece was much, much worse and caused my face to painfully welt for weeks. I had to use creme to correct this.

    • +1

The current models already come with the Silicon cover to go over the face cushion and assume this is what you are using.
If the silicon one gives you a rash the perhaps you are sensitive to silicon. Have you tried it without the it and with the default cover. One thing I suggest is not to wear it too tight. This is where the Kiwi Design or BobOVR Halo head straps are great. Most of the weight is away from the face.

      • Thanks Borg - I think I'll get the BobOVR with battery and give it another try.

  • i have had this since the oculus quest 2 came out right back when it was still called a oculus quest still got it today works really well still I still get about 4 to 5 hours of play time wirelessly over PC VR gaming.

  • Holy shit can't believe I missed this x_x

  • If its only 1 cent difference, why not just stick to a whole number?

    • Algorithmic pricing, psychology, gremlins, etc.
