G-Shock GA200-1A Analog/Digital 200m Water Resistant Quartz Watch $99 + $9.99 Shipping (Free with Kogan First) @ Kogan AU

150

Other local places selling for $154+.
Previous best price seems to be $127 buried here (use CTRL+F). https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/371523

Kogan shipping is expensive for something so small, best deal would be to do a free First trial for free shipping. - I recommend using a secondary email as it will be spam central after signing up.

The stainless steel wrapped in resin design that you don't see much these days. I think the Black/Silver colour way with red accents is also good looking.
12, 3, 6, 9 markers seem to be easily readable, not sure about the markers in between. The digital time on the LCD display is very small, might not be usable if you have bad vision.

Here is a photo that might give you a better idea how it looks in person under natural light. https://preview.redd.it/e3yi9vsrxxn51.jpg?width=640&crop=sma…

Better view of buttons. https://www.watchuseek.com/cdn-cgi/image/format=auto,onerror…

Another colour available for $99, but not the best looking IMO.

Points

  1. It's big (typical G-shock size). 55.1 × 52.5 × 16.7 mm (L× W× H)
  2. 80g so not the lightest either due to the stainless steel.
  3. Large buttons with no obstructions so they should be easy to press.
  4. Water resistant to 200m, Shock resistant, Magnetic resistant.
  5. 3 year battery life on CR1220. Not the worst for a small battery but not the best either. (G-shock battery life on coin cells can range from 2, 5, 7 years)
  6. Has Auto repeat countdown timer mode like GA100 (e.g. chime every 4.5 hours to take medication etc).
  7. Full auto-calendar till 2099 (no adjustments needed)
  8. +/- 15 seconds per month accuracy (the best accuracy found in Casio's)

  • TW Steel is a fashion brand but this is good for the price if you like it big -

    TW Steel Maverick 48mm - $87.99

      Thanks for the suggestion WatchNerd.

It uses a Miyota movement which I hear are a good reliable quartz movement. Casio also uses them for some of their analog models.
e.g. this one uses Miyota movement https://www.casio.com/us/watches/edifice/product.EF-527D-1AV…

And just by searching for that, I learned Miyota movement is made by Citizen. You learn something new everyday lol.

Unfortunately the G-shock in the deal is probably not ideal for oldies. On closer inspection I noticed the 11, 1, 5, and 7 o clock markers are the black screws, which could throw you off and some people might never get used to it. Being an Ana/Digi you could rely on the LCD time display, but on this watch the digits are absolutely tiny.

    • I actually have a few TW Steel watches. I personally find them to be excellent quality, built strong and extremely reliable.
I had no idea that TW Steel was considered as a 'fashion brand'?
      Google sold me different stories.
I'd be interested to know more about your justification for the 'fashion brand' statement.

  • @WatchNerd … I do apologise for sounding overly harsh in my previous comment.
What I meant to say, was to ask your opinion on what actually constitutes a 'fashion brand' label?

    • Hi Dusty, I never said they were poorly built or unreliable. I wouldn't have linked to it if I thought that.

There's plenty of information online, just Google - "What is a fashion watch".

  • I was about to post this (last day of Kogan First trial so went looking for deals), lucky I checked for dupes. I went with silver because the bronze one looks like it has a shiny case and band. There's also this:https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/casio-g-shock-analog-watch-with-resin-band-blackwhite-ga400-1a-casio/ which I think I have

Yeah I just didn't think the value was there for that one being all resin.

The (wrapped) stainless steel bezel for the same price got the go from me.

    • which I think I have

when you have so many g-shocks you can't even remember what you have lol

as for the watch, it's kinda annoying for me they went with both a positive and negative display. tf?

Yeah like a punch in the face to most customers who like one or the other lol.

        • they probably made it specifically for this person: https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/538/731/0fc…

          • @tdw: I just found it. It has a dial thing and an extra button. I played around with it for a few minutes and have no idea what's going on so it's going back in the box.

            • @rosebank: "It has a dial thing"

Yeah just from a quick read of the marketing on that model, seems like the "rotatable dial (crown?)" is the main feature, makes it easier to make adjustments compared to pressing buttons.

  • Just saw this one on special but it ends soon =

    Casio G-Shock GW2310-1 Solar Atomic $136.55 delivered

    • Looks like someone already nabbed one so the price went up.

I did notice a price drop on that watch though (or one of it's variants) dropped to around $120 but I didn't post it because I saw this deal when it was $82 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/287165 which you posted yourself WatchNerd back in 2017! lol.

Although now I double checked, seems like the $82 one doesn't have Atomic time which is not much use in AU anyway so maybe a cheaper price on that one will be a better deal.

    • Not sure where to post this so I'll just share it with you lol.
