Note, the voltage is 1.35v with CL32 profile, not 1.4v.
XMP Profile #1: DDR5-6000 CL32-38-38 @1.35VWith $15 more, you can get TeamGroup 6000MHz CL30 RGB kit at PCCG.
https://www.pccasegear.com/products/58485/team-t-force-delta…Both are Sky Hynix M die, can overclock to 7200 easily @1.4v.
Any thoughts on using these on AMD platforms? Is ram overclocking with these similar to ddr4 platforms?
I would suggest you to buy memory with EXPO profile. Technically, you can use xmp profile memory in AM5 MB. Some AM5 MB reads xmp profile. And some needs you to set the timing manually.
Though, EXPO kits carry some price premiums. Like the one blow, same speed and timing as the t-force kit, no rgb, $316.83:
G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO Series (AMD Expo) 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin SDRAM DDR5 6000 CL30-38-38-96 1.35V Dual Channel Desktop Memory F5-6000J3038F16GX2-TZ5N (Matte Black) https://amzn.asia/d/2JXKyzBIn terms overclocking, AM5 doesn’t have great potential. You are looking at 6600MHz max. And it also depends on the quality of the CPU.
I overclocked my 6000MHz CL30 T-force to 7200Mhz cl38 @ 1.4v on MSI z790 MB. Admit the cl38 timing isn’t great. But, it does offer some improvements in Cinebench r23 score.
Is there anything similar (performance and price per GB) but 2x32GB?
Performance wise, yes.
https://au.pcpartpicker.com/products/memory/#ff=ddr5&Z=65536…But, not cheap.
And you need to ensure your MB supports the OC speed the kits offer. Otherwise, you are wasting money. It’s a lot harder to run high memory speed with 1 dimm per channel and double Rank ram (32 GB ram is double rank) configuration. AM5 platform can only push to 6000mhz. Like the MSI x670e carbon wifi has spec as:
4x DDR5, Maximum Memory Capacity 128GB
Memory Support DDR5 6600+(OC)/ 6400(OC)/ 6200(OC)/ 6000(OC)/ 5800(OC)/ 5600(OC)/ 5400(OC)/ 5200(OC)/ 5000(OC)/ 4800(JEDEC) MHz
Max. overclocking frequency:
• 1DPC 1R Max speed up to 6600+ MHz
• 1DPC 2R Max speed up to 6000+ MHz
• 2DPC 1R Max speed up to 6400+ MHz
• 2DPC 2R Max speed up to 4000+ MHzThanks!
Intel seems to keep better timings, for example
https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-z790-e…Still not very clear how it would handle 4x32GB DIMMs.
I found it’s annoying to get the memory spec from ASUS website. MSI has memory spec in all motherboards spec sheets. Probably, just use MSI’s comparable product spec as a reference.
i,e. https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MPG-Z790-CARBON-WIFI/Specifi…
• 1DPC 1R Max speed up to 7600+ MHz
• 1DPC 2R Max speed up to 6600+ MHz
• 2DPC 1R Max speed up to 6400+ MHz
• 2DPC 2R Max speed up to 5600+ MHz
