  • What percentage savings does the 20x points work out to be?

    • +1

      10%

      • +5

        9.1%

  • denominations?

    • catalogue says all denominations of listed cards are eligible for 20x points.

The previous Coles deal worked out better: Buy a $50 gift card and get 2000 points worth $10.

    • +1

already used them all gone so fast

$100 bigger value at least can use on some larger expenses

    • Coles currently has 10% off ultimate kids, active, love and google play (excludes the variable load) but finishes tonight

  • How risky is it to buy restaurant giftcards for use at hotels?

    Consistent results or risky?

(It states hotel is a category supported)

    • i wouldn't recommend the instore ones for large hotel stays as they are $100 each and swipe swipe looks sus

digital $500 ones are good but at the moment only 5% off

      • 5% off is pretty easy to find, looking to get large value 10% off

Amazon had a sale on swap which was essentially 10% off Accor, hasn't been much since

        • Most I had was 19% off

The last three times I stayed at a hotel (and they were chain hotels):

      • Two of the hotels - which forced me to pay upfront and then pay for the deposit separately - insisted to see a physical card with a name on it that matched my ID.

      • At the third hotel - where I could pay at checkout - I used my credit card for the deposit, but I used an EFTPOS gift card for the actual hotel payment. I was yelled at by the manager for using a different card to the one used for the security deposit, after they checked their system and it reported that my EFTPOS gift card was an Alipay card for some reason. Oops.

Maybe you’ll have better luck than me?

      • Luck of the draw

But simply put if digital and can put larger amount all good

If physical you just ask if you could put bond / deposit down with cc and if you could use split cards under savings… Worse they can do is say no

There's no default rule that says the deposit card must be the card for full payment just made up ones usually… But can happen

      • I usually stay at Accor's, have pretty high status with them so they treat me quite well lol

I often use discounted giftcards, visa gift cards, etc for payment

More I'm just unsure if they'll actually be classed as a hotel on their terminals or if it will be hit and miss

  • Just a heads up regarding the Restaurant Choice gift card:

some of the cards I purchased had a 1-year expiry despite the terms and conditions stating they expire '3 years from the date of issue'.
