I thought he said, "Pass the KFC back here NOW" considering what an obese slob he was.

        • Don’t judge a book by its cover

    • +1

      What ended up happening?

I have also locked myself out of internet banking, despite knowing the password.

It was either as you say or issues with replacing the temporary password, as during that time the MyState Bank system appeared to stall.

I regret the time wasted on this 'deal'. The account will be closed as soon as I can.

      • +1

Only went on to transfer the $50 out, which I couldn't do. The phone help is reasonable, you can request a callback after 2-3 minutes and they called within 5 yesterday. But agreed, not worth the time.

    • lol that explains it, set my password on my phone. it won't let bitwarden autofill it in the app???

tried on desktop where bitwarden works but it's telling me i need to reset it. great start.

  • +1

I did this in their previous promo and got my $50 bonus. Legit deal.

    • +3

How long did it take to get?

      • Their phone rep told me the first or second week of March.

    • Why wouldn't it be a 'legit deal'? MyState Bank is a registered bank and the advertising and terms are there for all to see.

  • Transfer from NAB worked fine using app.

The MyState web page did not show the deposit, even when moving between tabs, but the MyState app did show the $50. Refreshing would seem to be an issue with a web session.

  • I registered over the weekend and got a processing email. Still no further communication since though. Anyone else similar application time?

    • This happened to me but i got an email yesterday confirming my accounts and i have transferred moneys today OK. I would call them if you dont have your account details by now. Could be an issue with ur identifications they may not be able to verify something

      • i also got the email confirming my account details but i'm sus of transferring money in until i get the login details which are yet to be received

    • +1

If you mean you didn't receive the SMS password after applying, neither did I. I just phoned them then. They will ask for your customer number, DOB, address, and balance of the account (if you transferred anything into it yet). Then they give you a number, ask you to login using that while still on the phone, then enter a new password for online banking. Then they ask if you want to give a second password for future phone calls instead of reading out all that personal info. Apparently with the phone password they will ask a few of the digits from it, not the entire password. e.g. "Give me the 2nd, 4th, and 8th digit of your password."

  • +1

"The customer number or password you entered is incorrect. Please check and try again. For help please call us on 138 001."

Not exactly sure what I did wrong, been working fine yesterday and this morning. Cust number and password 100% correct on entry, they've locked me out for some reason.

    • Ok so the fraud team locked me out because there are some inconsistencies with my forms of ID. So I need to fill out a two page form, certified and signed by Legal Practicioner, Judges, Magistrates, CEO of a Federal Court, Police, etc.

      Haha. What an absolute joke.

I'm out. Good luck the rest of you.

      • Wtf! Can the bank delete all your details?

I haven't decided to sign up or not, and probably won't. This bank sounds disorganised.

        • The haven't removed any of my details, they've just locked me out of my account until I can get someone to sight my ID and sign to prove this, because they seemingly found some discrepancy between my forms of ID. I asked what the discrepancy was and they can't tell me for legal and security reasons. So I have to get an authorised person to verify my two ID's

          Screw that, not worth $50.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: Did you manage to deposit $50 in and now you can't get it out anymore?

            • @nightqueen: Good question. Nope, thankfully I hadn't gone to that stage yet.

            • @nightqueen: I'm locked out until I provide JP-verified ID information.

This is such a bad customer experience.

              • @YesPleaseThankYou: Yip and I'm not doing that for $50. I've asked them to just close my account. Crickets have been chirping ever since I said that to them.

    • +1

      Same im locked out today

  • +4

Both $50 transfer attempts eventually went in. One as NPP and one as OSKO.

Take note, you can't do a transfer from Bonus Saver to external. It only lets you move from the Glide account out, so I had to move $50 from Saver into Glide, and the Glide to external.

    • Thanks answered my question 🙂

    • So by taking out the $50 after it’s cleared in the Saver account is fine right? Sttill eligible for the bonus later on?

      • Note that I transferred 2x $50 (because the first took ages, so I did a backup transfer). Total $100. So I have left $50 in there.

        • Are you planning to leave it in there until you get the $50 bonus?

      • T&Cs make no mention of needing to leave the $50 in there to qualify.

  • -1

is this $50 dollars for your info? just saying..

    • +1

It’s $50 for reading all the comments. If you make it that far…

    • +7

It's actually a nice change to receive something for your info instead of just letting it get stolen by incompetent companies.

  • After opening the account with $50, do you then have to make 5 transactions on the account within a certain time to be eligible? The IMB bank deal had a similar promo and from memory you also had to make 5 purchases after depositing the money and opening the account

    • +1

      no

  • There's this bonus too:

Earn up to 4.00% p.a. interest
Simple to earn – just deposit $20 & make 5 eligible transactions
How do you qualify for bonus interest?

You can earn bonus interest on your saved balances with this type of account by following these easy steps:
Deposit at least $20 in your Bonus Saver account each month.
Make at least 5 eligible VISA debit card transactions each month from your linked MyState Glide account.

Commonwealth Bank are giving me 2.15% p.a but all I have to do is click a few things every three months for my whopping +0.55% bonus interest.

  • Is it only me & my wife getting this error trying to open an account over the last 48 hours?

    Ouch!
Sorry, an error has occurred while trying to complete your identity verification. Please try again later.
Alternatively, give us a call on 138 001 during business hours to help you open your account.

  • +2

I still cant transfer between Glide and Saver accounts, anyone else had any luck?

    • was able to this morning. Had no option to select 'from' account before that.

  • This or UBank?

    • ME Bank? Apple really missed an opportunity to iBank, perhaps

    • +1

both, this for free $50 ubank to use

  • +1

Epic failed. I'm locked out of my account. Deposited $50 and now cant get back in

    • +1

      Likewise.

I would encourage anyone affected by the ridiculous processes of MyState Bank to lodge a complaint, details here: https://mystate.com.au/about-us/contact-us/complaints-feedba…

First step is to send an email to [email protected]

      • -1

Really isn't worth the 50 bonus for the anmount of effort

        • +2

It is if you want your money back :)

          • @YesPleaseThankYou: Lost cause. CBB putting in hours to get 50 back

            • +2

@nightqueen: There's no way I'm letting these fools keep my $50.

Having dealt with many financial institutions over the years, it's safe to say that my experience with MyState Bank has been the worst.

              • @YesPleaseThankYou: When you get access to your account again, if you notice your payment out gets reversed by mystate automatically, you have to go online and select regular transfer out.
I had issue that all fast payments were getting reversed.

                • @johnmelb: Can they do anything right?

                  • @YesPleaseThankYou: Not really, they try to give excuses and blame somebody or something else.

With previous promo they said I transferred money in the wrong account so I wasn't eligible for the promo.
T&C's didn't specify account though, promo did come through in the end (actually was my partners account, but I did the private messaging via online portal. Then I noticed my partner got automated email that the promo was activated).

For transferring money out: They kept saying that receiving bank account probably didn't support fast payments …

                    • @johnmelb: Wow. Incredible. Let this thread be a lesson for anyone considering banking with MyState Bank.

                      • @YesPleaseThankYou: Well it's been more than enough for me to know that I will never bank with them, ever. If they can't even get an account opened successfully without issue then what other issues would you encounter, who knows.

    • Same!

  • This bank sounds painful. Will definitely not participate.

    • No pain no gain?

  • I just rang them, was on hold for 10 minutes and then they re-set my password. Working now.

  • There's Virgin Money as an alternative. Maybe better service?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/754790

    • why not both?

  • so deposit $50 then get $50, no need to do the 5 eligible transactions? just confirming…

    • +4

says nothing about needing 5x transactions

      • +5

On OzBargain, people make up their own terms and conditions.

      • yes the 5x transaction relates maintaining the interest of that a/c but just wanna have some reassurance from smart ozbargain ppl like you, thanks !

  • I ditched this useless bank after I was asked to provide certified copies of my ID, even after my online ID checks were successfully completed.

I asked for my accounts to be closed and the funds returned to me, which MyState Bank acquiesced to.

  • +1

anyone get the $50 yet, and how long did it take?

  • First 2,500 Eligible Customers
    5013 clicks

    • +1

called them up before and asked if the promo was still available. customer service rep double checked and said it was still available, as its only the first 2.5k new customers.

    • +1

      (a) clicks aren't unique to the user, click it multiple times up goes the click count, (b) not everyone who clicks it will go through with signing up.

      • -1

Like you, been here for over 10yrs - do know how clicks work!
It gives a general indication of how popular Deal is. It's very popular.

But OzBargain isn't only way of signing up to this offer! Others will also be signing up. Offer opened 27 January 2023.

As offer is limited, just a reminder it may be fully subscribed to or about to be. Best to check first.

        chewieeez checked - still available.

  • I was told the id verification went successfully and

"Great news! Your new MyState account is all set up and ready to go! …..In the meantime, you can deposit money online and start using your account now! "

Now after I transfered money in the account I'm locked out??? Is this fraud? Now I need a lawyer or a judge to prove who I am to get my money back?

  • You need to deposit it into your Saver account, not Glide account. I just realised this after reading the T&C's more closely. Anyone else make the same mistake?

    • I deposited into my saver and the bank rejected it saying invalid. So I transferred to glide and then into saver

      • +1

Often T&C's state it has to be from external account.
So $50 internal transfer won't count.
Last time support just said bad luck, you didn't meet the criteria for or bonus.

        • +1

          TnC
Eligible deposits to Bonus Saver account include: Transfers between your accounts, direct credits, NPP transactions, cash deposits, SWIFT payments and Telegraphic Transfers (TT).

Ineligible deposits to Bonus Saver account include: Bank@Post deposits or transfers, cheques, money orders, travellers cheques, international drafts and foreign currency. Interest credit, fee refunds or returned payments are also ineligible.

  • I got 2 cents of interest!

  • Thanks OP. Signed up 2 accounts and deposited in to bonus saver account.

  • +1

Just got a call from a MyState CSR apologising for the problem with the id rejection and subsequent locking of the account. He actually admitted it was a problem with their systems. I said I was not willing to go through the id citing process so they may as well close the account. He constantly apologised for the system issues they have been having and said he will do his best to get my currently submitted id approved and access granted back to my account.

    • +1

Interesting. I suspect that some of the adverse social media attention may have something to do with MyState Bank's changed approach.

It is also good that MyState Bank acknowledged its system issues, a change from its past behaviour of blaming customers.

      • Exactly. Well I just got a call back and he said id verification all good now so my account has been reinstated.

        • That's great news! Took a while

  • Do you have to provide your Tax File Number when you open this account, if you intend to close the account after receiving $50?

    • -1

Only if you do not want a chunk withheld and have to wait till after July to claim it.

    • +1

You will still get the entire $50 without providing TFN. It isn't the same as interest.

  • Seems they hit the 2500 cap as the banner is no longer displayed. Wouldn't be surprising given the over 5k clicks here and they also advertised it during the Aus Open.

Signed up on 29 Jan while the banner was still displayed and $50 deposited into Bonus Saver Account the next day, so I'd assume I qualified. First reminder set for early March.

    • I checked with them through FB few days ago asking whether there's still spots and they confirmed it. But I was just afraid it already running out so didn't sign up. You should be fine I guess.

      • +2

@MiscOzB @StephenCurry I just rang them and the $50 promo has finished a few days ago as they got 2500 customers
I thought of signing up too but didn't

        • I signed up like 3 weeks ago but did my $50 deposit today. Reckon I'm eligible still, or is it for the first 2500 customers who deposit $50, not the first 2500 to sign up?

    • I signed up like 3 weeks ago but did my $50 deposit today. Reckon I'm eligible still, or is it for the first 2500 customers who deposit $50, not the first 2500 to sign up?

      • You would've had to deposit the $50. I suppose you could still try anyway - deposit it now then set a reminder to check on 15 March. If nothing, delete the Bonus Saver Account then wait for the next time they offer it.

  • The terms said they +$50 would be applied within 15 days which I completed all requirements well over 15. Sent them a contact and didn't hear back from them.

    • +1

      No.

It's 15 days from the end of promo date. So I'd wait until 16th March for final check.

  • Oops I just realised the $50 needed to be in the saver account not the transaction account. Luckily I transferred it today just before the cutoff date.

    • If the 2500 hasn't already been exhausted…
