  • This can detect tides?

Tides are caused by the gravitational pull of the moon (and the sun but to a lesser effect). The location of the moon in respect to the earth at any point is easily projected in advance. Thus, it’s a novel addition to the watch.

      • Tide goes in, tide goes out. Never a miscommunication. /s

    Rollll Tide

  • What's the grey bit on the underside (near lugs)?

      They are "wings".

They help to either fill the gap on smaller wrists or keep the watch better positioned (hugging) on your wrist during activity.

      Edit: Also one pro tip.
Depending on the size of the opening, many G-shocks that come with wings can easily be converted to Nato strap type solo loop bands without any adapter.
Just remove/unscrew the wings, remove the band then pass the Nato strap through the wings as you put them back on.

While this video is not for a solo loop band, here is a quick video to give you an idea of what's to do https://www.youtube.com/shorts/OUZ_nGU-mXI

      • have them on my gba800 where the lugs hang over the edge of my wrist and the benefits are exactly as you described.

Got the black one from BCF for $50 yonks ago. Nice watch. Tough and durable and especialy good for metal detecting hobbyists who like to know the tides.

Yeah but I have the feeling it’s too expensive for that sort of watch these days. No solar charging, no Bluetooth etc.

  • So do you set a location for the tide? It doesn't seem to have GPS to work out location.
The tide for start and end point for a kayak trip in an estuary could vary a couple of hours.

  • Sorry, guys, I have absolutely no idea how this watch works. I'm not really the target market and have no need to know what the tide is doing. But I thought it might help somebody!

add code BIRTHDAY10 for $10 off.
i don't need to know the comings and goings of the tide but this has positive display, autolight and flash alarm.

  • Cub membership required, pfft

Soon mcdonalds will require a 'club membership' before you can order a big mac

    • Yeah, I don't like the 'club membership' idea either. I wonder if anyone does?

  • Can't add to cart??

    • Yep, looks like it's sold out.
