60% off Calm Premium Lifetime via South Korea ₩99,600 (~A$115, Was A$550), VPN Required @ Calm

260

Calm is an app for Sleep, Meditation and Relaxation. Experience better sleep, lower stress, and less anxiety with guided meditations, Sleep Stories, breathing programs, stretching exercises, and relaxing music.

This is the cheapest I've seen a Calm lifetime subscription available for a while, since the last Türkiye deal expired. Unfortunately Calm have increased their price in Türkiye to ₺5999.99/~$460 (a 450% increase) so it's definitely not the cheapest any more. The price in South Korea is the current cheapest I've been able to find by switching VPN locations. Many of the usual suspects are charged in US dollars. If you find a cheaper country, then congratulations, you win some OzBargain points!

You only need to connect to a VPN location in South Korea to complete the purchase. There is no need for the VPN after this point.

The deal is still available in Australia for $219.99 (Saving $330 off $549.99) if you don't have access to a VPN.

Calm seem to take their time expiring coupons, and this Black Friday coupon also appears to still be valid, so this deal will possibly continue past the expiry date.

Edit: As both coupon codes are still working, I have removed the expiry date.

        • +2

Sure but will google do it in Idris Elba's voice? Lol

If I spend that much on a sleeping app, I will never be able to sleep lol :)

    • exactly my thoughts ha ha

I used to use Medito. Free and great app. Android link

    • Smiling minds is also free

    • Just tried it, it’s great. Wonder what Calm premium offers that justifies its price tag.

      • There is enough content to get into it for a couple of weeks. It's always the same pattern hence can always listen again and again.
I've tried headspace in the past and medito is on par (and free)
        Haven't used Calm.
I'm in a better space now hence only listen to audiobooks before bed (Libby with LA library is the best) - not meditation but helps as well

  • anyone had any luck finding cheaper with other countries? Don't have VPN to test

    Normally $550 aud…

Is there anything to suggest this app is really worth that much? I know we have a skewed view on apps because they've all seem to hit the race to the bottom dollar but 550 for an app like that seems obscene.. Im struggling to comprehend the bargain price let alone the regular!

    • This is a very niche product, for people who enjoys it they love it but I imagine majority like me don’t bother. I have tried Calm and Headspace, just couldn’t get into it

i like daily calm with tamara levitt. wouldn't pay $550 for it but

  • I pay $12.99 a year, have been for many years now.

    • How?

      • It just shows up as part of my subscription Plans. No workarounds.

“Lifetime” lol. More like “until it’s supported by developer” which is super arbitrary

    • +1

So true lifetime these days means maximum 5 years at best

    • Lifetime is either yours or theirs, whichever occurs first.

I don’t think I’ve had many of my lifetime subscriptions cease to exist (RIP Pocket Weather), I’ve had others severely limit the service offered (looking at you Getflix). Though I have had a few monthly services decide to shut down.

  • Thanks. @ieatcrackers . I got one. Don't think $550 is worth it, but $115 is OK even if the app dies in 5 or 6 years. There's a couple of teachers/voices I like on the app.

    • Are you actually associated, or have you accidentally clicked the box? Otherwise do you have insider knowledge of the app dying in 5 or 6 years? ;)

      • I don't know if it's going to die in 5 or 6 years. I think there were some comments above about lifetime subs that don't last forever, which could happen to any app/service.

I got a year of Calm free, and used it sometimes. I didn't renew after that, but found I missed it when I wanted to use it occasionally, and am happy to pay for it. As I dont use it enough, full price of half of annual price still seemed to high for me. This deal hit the sweet spot.

  • We have a subscription through work as part of our wellness package. I use some of the meditation programs through the day, some focus parts.
I also use it for the kids for bed time.

    • Would you say it's worth subscribing to if you had to pay for it?

      • +1

No, I could probably find something free. It's handy having it in one place though and i use it because its there.

      • +1

I would say it’s only worth subscribing if you know how it can work for you. I got one year for free from Amex, and realised I was using it enough to justify paying for it. Otherwise, there are plenty of other free meditation/sleep sounds sources available.

You can get three months for free via Optus SubHub old OzBargain post or here is a one-month trial I just found on Reddit.

  • Have been using it and found it great, worth every cent. Used headspace in past too I found Calm better
