How many killer wasps does it burn per trip around the sun? Will also accept watts?

      • Power Consumption: 225W

        • Hmm spicey…cheers bud

      • 580 kWh — 10 hours per day
        4.5 stars

        4T-C70CK3X

        • Interesting, those numbers conflict with the 225 w above. This number works out at approx 160 watts.

          • @tunzafun001: Might be 225w max, power consumption will fluctuate depending on what’s displayed and settings.

  • grabbed one, thanks OP

been a while since I see a Sharp TV. Is this considered a good TV?

    • +9

      It's certainly considered a good $809 tv

  • I ordered an Abey sink from Appliances Online recently and they opened it in front of me on delivery to make sure it wasn't damaged. First time I've ever had anything like that happen, was quite annoying too since it didn't neatly fit back into the box afterwards…

    • -2

      cool story bro

      • +2

Did you read the OP? In referring to the rather unusual step of taking the TV out of the packaging before handing it over, which is a huge pain in the ass and not limited to just TV's.

Not good enough for the attention deficit negging crowd though, I see.

  • So the good guys are really trying to make me buy this tv by dropping the price repeatedly…

Since there have been a few people who purchased this on the prev deals, has anyone got any feedback on how it might compare to an entry level Sony or Samsung? Particularly for streaming and light gaming (kids switch)

Is it also true these have some kind of unbreakable screen so I can take accidental damage off my home insurance policy and save a few hunggy there too?

    • +6

Sorry probably not much help but what 70" 4k Sony or Samsung does $809 buy?
I have this and it's great, I didn't even consider a cheap Sony or Samsung given the 3 year warranty and Japanese panel.

      • +1

Sorry I should have specified but I am replacing a 65 inch sony. I was going to go for a 75” but I keep seeing this deal pop up and no real negative reviews from anyone that actually has one, only opinions from those that don’t…
So 70” is prob ok if the picture and OS is good..

I was looking at a ‘cheaper’ end tv because I wasn’t happy with the lifespan of my sony considering what I would say is average to light usage…

        • +1

This is the second sharp I've bought. My last one is still going, not perfect but serviceable and it's around 10 years old. This one had a few nice features such as built in google/Chromecast and Bluetooth in/out which I liked. The warranty, largely positive reviews, panel from Japan all seemed very nice positives :)
Re the picture, I didn't look at it before I bought but it seemingly has better blacks and color than my 4 year old 65" hisense it replaced.

        • +2

Is there any reason you are upgrading? Is it because you want a bigger TV? Consider waiting to upgrade for a significant size increase.

          • @Pinchy: The Sony shat itself and I almost need binoculars to see the 12 year old 42” lcd dumb tv we stuck in its place. so yes size is important.

That said the 65 was ok but I always said if it died I would replace it with atleast a 75 inch..( mainly because no one really does anything between that and 65)..

We sit about 3.5-4m from the tv so my understanding is 75”+ seems to be the go to now for that distance

Its marginally better than other entry level TVs I was comparing to when looking in person at TGGs (>$1k). I recently got this on the last deal for $910 delivered. Although don't expect it to be a lot better based on the positive sentiment from previous deals. Nowhere near the quality of OLED or mini Led (TCL C835), but the mix of quality/size/price is pretty unbeatable.

You can get pretty vivid colours by putting it on dynamic picture quality (we watched avatar in 4k which had great vibrant colours) but you won't get the black blacks of the higher quality TVs. Other picture modes will just adjust contrast or add a sepia tinge. Still extremely happy with a <$1k TV that is >65 inches with good picture quality.

TGG now open the box at pick up to check for screen damage before handing it over to you.

Uh oh, someone put them horizontally in the TCG distribution centre

  • Doh! Got mine today from previous best price. Seems a good tv anyway for those thinking on it.

  • Guess it's not worth risking using my concierge credit to maximise savings in combination with cashrewards..?

edit: There isn't a store within 500km that has your order in stock. Please select delivery, or try a different postcode or suburb.

    None in Perth :(

    edit2: $55 delivery.. Not bad

Tgg told me i void my warranty if i took it home myself in my xtrail as i couldn't stand it up fully.

    • Get roof racks and don't go under any low rail bridges.

    • How can they do that?

      • +2

They opened their mouth, shaped there tounge, lips and jaw they then pushed air through their vocal cords ( by moving their diaphram). This caused the air to vibrate which was picked up by tiny hair folicals and caused my ear drum to vibrate, this sending electrical inputs to my brain which i have been trained since birth to interpret and give meaning to.

What do you mean how can they do that?

You mean would this really invalidate my warranty? I don't know. But i guess if the screen cracked on the way home id be SOL.

they have cameras on the loading bay so they can see.

Thanks for the time you put into this response.

  • No refresh rate specs anywhere?

    Totally agree on delivery.
I had one delivered with jb. Looked perfect on unboxing. Until plugged in. Totally shattered… Physically and emotionally. :(

Doh! Received this TV yesterday from the last deal. No complaints about picture quality for the price, great for watching tennis and streaming YouTube/Netflix. Very bright screen. The inbuilt user interface for switching channels and the guide is fugly though (my last experience is LG WebOS)

    • +2

I'm not a fan of the EPG. I just want to scroll through the list without actually changing the channels.
I've decided to go with Super Eco for the brightness as it is very bright for my lounge. Should save some power too.

      • +1

Agree, it sucks that browsing the guide also changes the channel! But after the tennis is over I won’t be watching much more free-to-air anyway lol!

      • +1

Yeah agree that EPG sucks ass. Super ECO for free to air is pretty good. I use dynamic for high quality movies though.

  • Disregarding price, is this better than a QLED TCL C735 or Hisense U7HAU?

    • +1

Yes! This one is 70", those ones that are double the price are only 65"

      /s

    • You’d probably have to go in-store to compare yourself unless someone has bought 2x 70”+ TVs recently lol

  • Would have bought but, "cannot deliver to your location". Theres a GGs in town and they've delivered TVs before. Oh well.

  • +1

I've had the same TV since 2009 (Sony LCD). I have no idea about TV technology and any advancement since.

    • +3

We had a 2012 plasma for about 5 years with a soundbar and Google TV. Best thing about this upgrade for us was:

      • HDMI arc enables control of the sound bar with the TV (e.g. TV on turns sound bar on and volume on TV remote controls sound bar volume)
      • TV remote also controls our Google TV (although TV comes with inbuilt Google chromecast)
      • went from 3 controllers down to 1 now
      • somehow our old TV wasn't getting SBS channels but our new TV does?
      • somehow our google tv in our old TV couldn't play 4k streams but our new TV enables it?
      • newer free to air channels coming through
      • obvious things like better pic quality, energy usage, brightness colours, weight
      • +1

I doubt this has a better picture quality than a plasma.
        Agree with everything else.

      • +1

Oh wow, that was pretty comprehensive, thank you. I had an issue with SBS for a few years too, it somehow got fixed or maybe I did something (always keen to take the credit!) and it's fine.

I do have Chromecast plugged into my tv and even replaced it when the old one gave me some grief.

Thanks for the other information too, just processing it.

  • +1

Don't forget 6% cash rewards tonight

    • Did you get it?

  • Does anyone have any idea what the viewing angle is like on this model? Thanks!

    • +1

No concerns for me. Some dropoff at a 45 degree angle but I wouldn't notice unless I went from the angle to in front and paid attention.

  • +1

Great price! I recommended this TV for a friend of mine at $1299 and at that price I thought it was a steal. The interface is snappy and haven't noticed a single slowdown, compared to a TCL 65" for same price from a year ago. Honestly the only thing I can fault is the USB is powered on at almost all times, so it makes backlighting a pain. Picture quality wise, performance, no complaints.
    I've previously purchased a Sony X80G 65" for $1500 and a TCL 65" (unknown model) for $900
To me this is equivalent to the Sony, easily. TCL lagged like crazy, and this is the same price basically.

  • It's a 60hz panel for anyone thinking of using it for gaming. It should still be fine if you're a casual gamer/ not hardcore IMO.

    • I agree - I am, by all accounts, a pretty casual gamer on PS5 but bought a Sony 65X90J so I could have HDMI 2.1 and a 120Hz panel. So far, none of the games I've played have supported 120 FPS so I wouldn't have missed out on anything by getting a 60Hz TV.

      • How much was the Sony 65X90J?

        • At the time I bought it, $1850 (April 2022). It has been cheaper recently. Was it worth it? Well, I don't have a TV like the one in this deal to compare it to, but by the same token, I'd hardly say that I'm wowed by it.

  • Ive got an aldi bauhn 70" with the LG os. would this be worth upgrading to? Or would it be basically the same

  • +1

Went from a 7yld Hisense to this TV a couple of days ago and while we haven`t played around too much with the settings, the legs were too wide for it to sit on our tv unit.
When I had initially fitted the legs facing outwards, I remembered that there was a screw holding the leg brackets in that when removed allowed the brackets to be swapped over to let the legs face inwards so it could fit on the tv unit.
Not a big thing but have previously had to buy a board to fit wider legs on.

    • Could you post a picture?

  • Still waiting for mine from last deal to be fixed as the bezel on the top is bent which has bent the screen as well. TGG said Tempo Australia will call me and no call back and just called TGG again and will see tomorrow on what’s going on. This is the first tv out of many I’ve had that has had issues, usually stuck with Samsung/LG/Sony.

    • Unlucky… :( mine has been ok since getting it. Hope you're able to replace it without too much more headache

    • I also had a faulty unit on that deal, and even though TGG submitted the referral to Tempo for me, Tempo did not have it on their system with a case number to be followed up. Tempo created a case when I called them after waiting the two days as per TGG advice and quickly resolved the matter, informing me that the unit had a major panel fault. I ended up taking the unit back for a refund and bought another off eBay. Tempo were great to deal with overall unlike the TGG. I would return the TV for a refund given the circumstances and buy another cheaper off eBay – you have a right to do this under consumer law.

  • Sharp Tv was delivered yesterday.

The picture seems to be faded and the colors are not bright.

Any setting recommendations to get a better better picture quality ?

The colours seems to be much better in the TCL 65C635; however, TCL OS is lagging but sharp is quick.

I enjoy the warmth, natural skin tones, hair colours, etc on the TV, even in eco mode. If you want a more vivid colour profile try setting it to Dynamic mode under Tools or Settings.

  • Curious whether anyone else's TV came with a pre-installed prayer time app that can't be removed? Mine's also not detecting digital channels… wondering if I got some model from the wrong region or something.

    • I checked the apps on mine and found an app called Azan which is a Muslim prayer app according to Google.
It is one of many preinstalled applications and it has never interfered with the functioning of the TV. I cleared its cache and disabled notifications anyway as I could not see a way of uninstalling it.

I’ve had no problems with digital channels – perhaps you can go through the setup process again to see if it makes a difference.
