Crucial MX500 500GB 2.5" SATA SSD $55 + Delivery ($0 VIC/NSW/QLD C&C) @ Scorptec

480

First post so pls have mercy.
Was browsing for the MX500 500gb SSD and came accross this deal on Scorptec, all time low $55 I believe with C&C, or rivals the all time low around $65 with delivery.
I bought 2 + $11 shipping = $60.5 each
1tb, 2tb, 4tb also on sale for close to all time lows as well, but can vary.

Edit:
Amazon has price matched with free delivery: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0786QNS9B

        Kingston NV2 m.2 500gb for $55 on Amazon

        • +3

This has DRAM cache and that Kingston NV2 does not.. also this will last longer in read/write cycles and is solid as a rock reliable.

          • @vid_ghost: This has 5 years warranty, whereas NV2 only has 3 years. NV2 also has controller lottery. Both NV2 and MX500 have NAND lottery. However, for MX500, at least at 500GB, you do get TLC.

NV2, being NVMe, does perform faster and is one of the cheapest NVMe SSDs at the moment. It's technically usable in PS5.

Amazon should price match. Hopefully, soon….

  • Works great in my PS4VR Pro.

My Crucial MX500 500GB is still going strong after 5 years :)

Still in its original packaging? Nice

Mine too. This is a terrific SSD, and a fantastic low-cost upgrade for those with an older PC.

There are few bang-for-buck upgrades which provide the value that this brings.

This should be a poster boy for OzB users up there with Eneloops (and Toyota Camrys).

    • Mine too after 3.5 years though, great drive

  • The 2TB is equal to the all time low but no free shipping

  • This is good and all, but isn’t it pointless when frickin NVMe drives of the same capacity are either the same price, cheaper or much better value? Especially when you factor speed into the equation.

These are great to upgrade older machines with HDDs but no m.2 slots. Or they're great for a games library on older computers with only one m.2 slots (intel 6th and 7th gen come to mind which can still make great budget gaming machines)

Seconded. Hell, I'm on a B450m motherboard with a Ryzen 3600 and I'll stuff as many of these in my case as there are SATA ports on my board. All of those sweet sweet Epic and Bezoptimus Prime co. freebies will have a home at once, dammit!

I add them but dont download :).. updates are 10's of GB's anyways.

        • +1

You should just buy 1tb or 2tb size intead of 5 x 500gb

Or the storage addict who used up all his/her M.2 Slots and needs to move to SATA. I'm one of them.

    • Just thought of another use case, people reusing their older hardware as a NAS that don't have multiple m.2 slots would use these as mirrored cache drives.

    • The MX500 is one of the most reliable, bang-for-buck SSDs around, and has been for quite some years now.
You'll also find that most of the NVME drives around this price are DRAM-less and have lower reliability ratings, which are fairly big negatives.

    • Got a link to one? I'm on the market for a NVMe

    • It's $110 from seller Amazon AU but you don't need to wait weeks for it to arrive. But it's a bit of a trade off save about $7 and have to wait weeks to get it or get it much sooner for a few dollars more.

It was $85 for MX500 1TB delivered last year: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/730183
I still haven't opened mine. It was a FOMO purchase for me.

      • Yea, I remember that, insane price

  • Got the 1TB for $102 via Amazon AU/Harris Tech.
