Pretty sure requiring the purchaser to pay to send the product overseas for a warranty claim is against the law.

Dealing with some of these Chinese sellers is basically Wild West as far as consumer protections lmao

      • +3

        Correction: Wild Wild East

        • +3

Wild West coz China is actually also known as ‘west Taiwan’ u see.

    About US
We Nothingprojector is specialized in Ultra Short Throw projectors and ALR screens.

    Company: Siki Eagle Sarl
Address: 1, Esplanade Miriam Makeba, 69100 Villeurbanne, France

No ABN displayed on the website and the company is based in France with a .com.au website?

  • Yeah, I think I'd rather buy local thanks.

    • Is this really a reason for a neg?

The cheapest I can see (quick google) from an AU seller is over $1000 more without a screen.

      • +1

        Local support. Warranty. Shifty practices.

Plenty of comments here saying that.

I'd gladly pay $1k extra for piece of mind at this price.

        • I see. Company engages in shifty practices. That's a reason to neg.

Claims AU stock and shipping from AU warehouse, but no AU details or ABN? Combined with warranty terms that clearly violate ACL, seems like you should try again OP.

  • +3

Lots of dodgy stuff going on here.
    What is your ABN?

And has changed names on deals multiple times too.

Under 135" for a projector just isn't worth it.
    Go BIG or go home.

ALR screens currently only go upto 120 inch. Well technically one custom screen manufacturer is available who join screens to a custom size… but are crazy expensive. Without an ALR a UST is pointlless.. the projection surface has to be absolutely flat and in any kind of lighting the angle of projection will make the image look washed out without an ALR.

If someone has the space why buy an UST when just the screen, a 120 inch ALR is around 12-1700 delivered!! Nothing but label are the main supplier to US as well . The package pricing is good..this projector punches way above it's weight and image quality is stunning for a DLP based UST. But any Chinese projector , and most make UST projectors ..Xiaomi, Fengmi, Formovie, AWOL, Wemax ..except Hisense, will have the warranty issue for buyers anywhere outside of China. A similar projector from known manufacturers and there are only a handful at the moment..notably Samsung and Epson, would be double that price.

    • Watching the AusOpen on a 120" screen is pretty great

I would recommend Hisense or Samsung at this price range with local support and warranty. It seems tech market is being now exploited with thousands of products with no support or warranty now available in Australia. Imagine something being sold at this price with no local support. Its just total crass.

3 Year warranty, the customer would need to send back to China for repair but we will handel the rest including the backward shipping

For this alone it's worth a neg, no Australian warranty might as well buy it from china…

  • The company has an Australian website which means it has an ABN otherwise you do not get a .com.au domain .. this projector is listed at 5199 on their website…hence I said good price..I have seen the image quality ..it is almost as good as a Mini Led but at 120 inches..Just having an ABN means bugger all realistically speaking .. will anyone do anything barring complaining to the Ombudsman ?

    • Lol, you do realize the website you quote is not official…

      Here it is
      https://www.formovie.com/

  • If it were me, i'd go the Hisense with included screen for a little bit more, eg:

    • Yes I suppose in terms of warranty that would make sense but not in terms of image quality .. this projector produces some spectacular images.. till it does not :-D .. I do not get the fascination with UST to be honest .. 2 more years 120 inch OLEDs will be around and in 6 more years they might be affordable so why pay so much for a projector with a 20 odd year promise on the lamp and a specialised screen .. if you do not have the space for a long throw or even for a short throw but want the cinematic experience then I suppose it makes sense ..otherwise ..I have seen what it can do ..I have a completely dark theatre ..if someone gave it to me for free ..Id take it. because the image quality is just so good..its way better than a commercial cinema hall if the correct media is being used … otherwise Ill stick with my refurbished Epson and my 130 inch screen and keep changing the bulbs till a 120 inch OLED becomes affordable

Well I went with an Optoma P2 and a CLR screen, and it's a thing of beauty. Bought it because my wife likes watching with ambient lights on, and we're renting at the moment.

I don't see the point of waiting for OLED or LCD panels to get to the same size - the tech is affordable now so why not. Plus, I would hate to think how one would even transport a 120" TV. It would be nearly impossible to get up a staircase that has a turn.

      • Til it does not? Why does it stop?

        • +1

Because QC and after sales support is non existent with Chinese projectors and UST in general promise a 20 year lifespan but have been around for 4-5 years .. the Chinese projector tech is way more advanced than what the major players can produce because labour is cheap and they have spent money on getting their products certified to the latest standards. They came out with a triple laser DLP projector before anyone else in the big leagues did.

This particular projector has issues with focussing on one corner in some cases with others it is fine..if you get a lemon or it stops working out of the box you are pretty much on your own unless you want to ship it back to China at your cost during warranty. I would suggest becoming a member of avsforum and read this forum on UST https://www.avsforum.com/forums/ultra-short-throw-ust-projec… before spending cash.

I have seen how this projector performs and honestly with an ALR it is like a high end TV ..but it comes with risks . All USTs do IMO…still a young tech.. I love large screens and am quite happy with changing lamps till OLED screens in the 100 plus range become cheaper. But then I have a completely dark dedicated theatre. No projector to date can match an OLED but they are coming pretty close.

  • How does this compare with Hisense models??

  • +1

I bought this model from BargainDingo (same people). My dealings with them have been very positive although i've never had to do any warranty claims yet. I believe BargainDingo is for their Australian customers and they handle any warranty claims. They even gave me a part refund when they realised they've forgotten to send me an Amazon Firestick as part of the deal.

I upgraded from the Fengmi 4k UST (also purchased from them) and this unit is much, much, better. the Dolby Vision handling is excellent. Black levels is again much better than the Fengmi. There's a reason why it won out against much pricier projectors like the Hisense and Samsung.

Have a 50" Pioneer Plasma & ceiling mounted JVC X35 1080p projector with a 110" manual pulldown screen - both still working fine but would like to go 4k eventually

Was going to buy an LG OLED and a new 4K projector, but wondering whether a UST could replace both?

Would prefer to have a smaller UST box that has no or only minimal speakers built in.

Strong preference to NOT have it be based on Android TV (rather run apps off Apple TV 4K)

Essentially I want a dumb but highest possible brightness and picture quality UST if such a thing exists.

    • +1

You can consider an Hisense L9G or AWOL 3500+, basically the same thing

UST is tend to become bigger and bigger as higher lumens needs better heat management
