  • What 5g providers does this work with? Don't they give you a modem? Then why this?

    • Data only sims?

    • @arkasun

Well its got a Telstra logo on it so it will work with them.

This whirlpool member used an Optus SIM with this modem.

  • not sure how this compares to Telstra 5g modem, has anyone used it before?

I own both this and the nighthawk m6 pro.

They both are built for Telstra data sim. So you will get a summary of data remaining before the end on month cycle when you use a Telstra data sim.

When you use a Optus data sim. You need to set the modem for the Access Point Name (APN) manually on the first time you insert the Optus data sim. It will not show you a summary of data remaining or the number of days before the end of billing cycle. I also see that I don’t get 5G connection when using Optus sim.

Both device is fast enough, and battery reserve can last at least 4 hours continuous usage.

I recommend Inseego MIFI X PRO 5G. Simply because it is cheaper and the LCD screen is more responsive and brighter than the nighthawk m6 pro. It also has a chime for every WiFi connection to the Inseego device.

So Australia gets the X62 version, not the X65, and from the look of the speeds in the below review, the Wi-Fi is a step down from that available on the Huawei 5G pro.

    • Australia always gets second-rate crippled kit

      • well it has the Telstra logo on it….

  • If someone wants to use at home, Telstra AW1000 or Nokia Fastmile 5G modem may be the better options to pick.

wow. still no value 5G pocket wifi modems.
Better off getting a cheap 5G phone to use as a wifi hotspot.

Agree. I was looking for a 5G modem 6 months ago, nothing was a decent price. Purchase one of the 5G Motorola G50s for about $200 and has worked perfectly while travelling. Battery and reception are fine, speed and lag are pretty good and dual Sim as well.

Can't see how this is worth double the price

      • i'm not saying this is worth $400 but the fact it has ethernet means its probably geared for the old SOHO market as Telstra was so strong in 'promoting'

        • Can probably get an Ethernet to USBC adapter for $15 for an android phone.

  • This isn’t a bargain at all. Your phone can do the same thing with wifi hot spot. $399 isn’t worth it for the average consumer

How do you connect a phone to a mesh system via Ethernet cable??

      *edited

      • +1

Openwrt wifi bridge or USB tethering.

      • +2

        USB ethernet adapter

  • poco m4 pro 5g imported dumps on this lmao, this isnt a deal

if you want local a Galaxy A22 5g is another choice

  • This has Ethernet and wifi 6 but no mmwave and I think this is the regular price.

  • 5G phone + USBC Ethernet adaptor + power bank FTW

    • How’s the speed? I used to have a Oppo find x2 5G with optus 5G plan. The speed test on the phone was 150mps, but when I linked it to my Mesh via usb cable, done the speed test via Wifi, the speed dropped to 4G speed which was 40mps.
