I was looking for a cheap wired headset for the missus and came across this deal.

I ordered via click & collect from digiDirect's St Peters warehouse in Sydney.

Spoke with staff on chat to confirm it was in stock (it was at the time) but I was advised 1-4 business days processing time, but I'm not in a rush. (UPDATE: It’s already ready for pickup)

Next cheapest I can find are are $49 at PLE or $59 at the Microsoft eBay store, Amazon and JB-Hifi still at $89.

This model is currently 50% off at official SteelSeries (US) site but it is out of stock so maybe it's a run-out model?

I have the Arctic 1 Wireless at home (same features but with wireless USB-C dongle) and I'm pretty happy with it.

It uses the same driver as the higher end Arctis headset models so the sound quality should be quite comparable.

cheap wired headset for the missus

why don't you get her a good quality one?

      I'd say he did… Arctis 1 isn't bad quality.

I've been happy with my Arctis 3 since I got it. Definitely great for MS Teams, gaming or as a headset for my mobile phone.

It’s for her gaming pc, which she uses infrequently. Also I’d argue this is good quality but just happens to be cheap. As mentioned I have the Wireless version which I use myself and I rate that model.

        Maybe these ?

Seriously, you can't compare, the Clear don't have a mic.

Price match at JB HIFI and use the $10 'perks' voucher.

        • Pfft! No mic… no bargain for gaming :-P

@Mugsy: They’ll be fine for Minesweeper

            • @jv: These would be detrimental to the minesweeper experience… can't hear the boss coming :-P

  • This is a good deal, especially for click and collect. I got mine at Xmas and I don't think I have ever been more impressed all round with a pair of headphones (and I have xm3). The sound, price, comfort and Mic clarity are all excellent, and the headband, ear cups and cable are replaceable if you ever wear them out. Also has a great analogue volume control (way better than any touch control I have ever used) and a pass through port in case you are on a plane and sharing sound, or if you are wanting to record while playing I guess. They are also quite light weight.

The only slight gripe I had with it was the audio cable is proprietary, and not just a 3.5mm jack on the headphone side, not sure what the logic was here but they do sell one for a reasonable price so at the end of the day it's not a massive issue

    • Are you mixing it up with the Arctis 1 Wireless? This is the wired version and I was under the impression that the audio cable is non-removable.

Jackson might be thinking of the Arctis 3 which has the removable cable plus headband. Also sold from DigiDirect. They're very similar.

        • Oh I am definitely referring to the Arctis 3 it seems, my bad. Not sure how many of those features aren't relevant to the 1, but I would say if any are deal breakers pay the extra 10 bucks for the 3, it was 49 bucks recently

OK having a look at this, it seems like a lot of features are missing compared with the 3, including the ski goggles type headband, the removable cable, and the retractable microphone at least, just looking at the picture. Maybe the 3 is a better deal, but DYOR I guess

          • @Jackson: Yeah, each one has its pros and cons…

            • the ski headband is great if you can get use to it and if the headset is used solely by one person. If it's being shared, the traditional design of the Arctis 1 is probably better as it's easier to adjust.
            • detachable cable is good if the original gets ruined. Arctis 1… you'd need to buy a whole new headset
            • Arctis 3 has the daisy chain port where as I cannot see it on the Arctis 1
            • retractable mic on the Arctis 3 makes it better to use as headphones with, say, a mobile
